"It is not fair that the older generation are handing over the responsibility to solve this crisis to us young people who have not started this crisis. It’s not fair that we have to do all this." And this is a crux of the matter. The expectation that everything must be fair. Yet nobody can truly define what that is. What is fair to varies widely from one person to person and wildly so from group to group and nation to nation. She argues on the false premise of Moral Fallacy https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moralistic_fallacy and she and many others are in no position to determine (the false authority fallacy) https://effectiviology.com/false-authority/ what my morals or anybody else's morals are or should be. The nuevo socialist operates in these zones wrapping their position in empathic and/or sympathetic ways. i.e. "Don't you want clean air to breathe? Then we need to nationalize industry to accomplish this". "Clean water helps babies, so we need to eliminate all cars". This leads those who take this view into the trap of "The ends justifys the means" and statements like "against the wall" pop up and reveal the inner thinking. btw, Greta, life is not fair. Sometimes in this world situations are put upon generations they wish they never had to deal with. All the wars throughout history can certainly be enough proof of that.

Alexandria Oscasio-Cortez of New York) and her Squad.” Taylor, a 35-year-old political novice, is joined by three other Republican women with much deeper political resumes: -Nancy Mace, a state representative in South Carolina who is running for the GOP nomination in South Carolina’s 1st Congressional District. The congressional seat is currently held by Democratic U.S. Rep. Joe Cunningham. She is the first woman to graduate from The Citadel -Beth Van Duyne, former mayor of Irvine, Texas, from 2011-2017, is running for the GOP nomination in the Texas 24 Congressional District. She was appointed in 2017 by President Donald Trump as a regional administration for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), overseeing Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arkansas and Louisiana.

https://news.yahoo.com/democratic-rep-jeff-van-drew-220448426.html WASHINGTON – New Jersey Rep. Jeff Van Drew, the lone Democratic congressman to come out against the impeachment of President Donald Trump, will become a Republican next week, multiple Democratic sources told USA TODAY. The president approached Van Drew about switching parties during a meeting Friday that was first reported by the Washington Post. The sources confirmed the meeting and that the freshmen lawmaker from the South Jersey district that voted for Trump in 2016 would be announcing a switch to the GOP sometime next week. Van Drew did not respond immediately to a phone call and text message asking for comment.

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to r3volution 3.0 again. https://www.ccn.com/the-fed-just-blew-the-lid-on-the-next-financial-crisis/ The Federal Reserve’s intervention in the financial system reached truly epic proportions Thursday after the central bank’s New York division announced the largest series of repo operations ever. The announcement came mere days after the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) painted a rosy picture of the U.S. economy in its final policy meeting of 2019. But what the Fed says and what it does are two completely different things. Central bankers are admitting – by their actions, not words – that crisis is brewing in the financial sector.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/orleans-declares-state-emergency-following-200458038.html New Orleans declared a state of emergency and shut down its computers after a cyber security event, the latest in a string of city and state governments to be attacked by hackers. Suspicious activity was spotted around 5 a.m. Friday morning. By 8 a.m., there was an uptick in that activity, which included evidence of phishing attempts and ransomware, Kim LaGrue, the city's head of IT said in a press conference. Once the city confirmed it was under attack, servers and computers were shut down. While ransomware was detected there are no requests made to the city of New Orleans at this time, but that is very much a part of our investigation, New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell said during a press conference. Numerous local and state governments have been plagued by ransomware, a file-encrypting malware that demands money for the decryption key. Pensacola, Florida and Jackson County, Georgia are just a few examples of the near-constant stream of ransomeware attacks over the past year. Louisiana state government was attacked in November, prompting officials to deactivate government websites and other digital services and causing the governor to declare a state of emergency. It was the state's second declaration related to a ransomware attack in less than six months. Wonder who's behind this?

https://www.yahoo.com/news/brazilians-arrive-waves-us-mexico-192820616.html EL PASO, Texas (AP) — Growing up along the U.S.-Mexico border, hotel clerk Joe Luis Rubio never thought he'd be trying to communicate in Portuguese on a daily basis. But with hundreds of Brazilians crossing from Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, each week, the Motel 6 by the airport has become a stepping stone for thousands of the Portuguese speakers on a 6,000-mile (9,500 km) journey from Brazil to El Paso to America's East Coast. “Thank God for Google Translate or we’d be lost,” says Rubio. The quiet migration of around 17,000 Brazilians through a single U.S. city in the past year reveals a new frontier in the Trump administration's effort to shut down the legal immigration pathway for people claiming fear of persecution. now this.

“Like the plurality of Americans who don’t identify with a political party, we are not on Team Red or Team Blue, but we are hurt by the bad policies of both,” he wrote. “That’s why the Congress should impeach and remove the current president. He has shown disrespect for the Constitution, spending money without congressional approval, sending troops into war without a congressional declaration, and refusing to cooperate with congressional requests and subpoenas,” Sarwark added. “This is not an issue of policy disagreement or personal animosity. When someone doesn’t have the ability to do the job properly, they need to be fired,” he concluded. Doesn't this apply to Obama or any politician? I feel like screaming..."no shit motherfucker!, Ya think!"

“If the American people knew the magnitude of this dysfunction . . . 2,400 lives lost,” Lute added, blaming the deaths of U.S. military personnel on bureaucratic breakdowns among Congress, the Pentagon and the State Department. “Who will say this was in vain?” Since 2001, more than 775,000 U.S. troops have deployed to Afghanistan, many repeatedly. Of those, 2,300 died there and 20,589 were wounded in action, according to Defense Department figures.

The documents were generated by a federal project examining the root failures of the longest armed conflict in U.S. history. They include more than 2,000 pages of previously unpublished notes of interviews with people who played a direct role in the war, from generals and diplomats to aid workers and Afghan officials.

Agree, you stated what I was searching for, "decentralizing". I think culture & religion plays a huge part as well. Religious mindset which guides government as we know can be as totalitarian as any totalitarian government without one.

Yeah, lets not forget Obama used the IRS to spy on political parties. https://www.forbes.com/sites/robertwood/2015/07/23/19-facts-on-irs-targeting-president-obama-cant-blame-on-republicans/#489671f631f2 In January 2010, the Supreme Court in Citizens United held it unconstitutional to ban free speech by corporations, unions and other organizations. In August 2010, the IRS distributed a BOLO (Be on the Lookout) list for Tea Party organizations applying for tax exempt status. In October 2010, IRS Exempt Organization chief Lois Lerner met with the DOJ about prosecuting conservative groups.

 And they (or others) get to determine what that is. Catalonia should determine for itself and as you say be consistent with individual rights. Which makes me wonder, at what point does a government become to intrusive to those rights? I guess its as much as the individual (or persons) are willing to tolerate? A balancing act between the smallest least intrusive government while still having one with the maximum amount of freedom.

A valid point. I see it as those who democratically elect a government with self-determination would (I hope) also includes individual rights. Basically, breaking down government to smaller and smaller components. So, 49 states would understand that CA wants to secede under self determination and CA understands that the county level wants to leave as well and be individual or perhaps join up with Nevada.
