She'd be eligible in 2024. Great another community organizer. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (born October 13, 1989), also known by the initialism AOC, is an American politician, activist, and community organizer.

https://theintercept.com/2018/11/22/burkina-faso-us-relations/ The insecurity that Burkina Faso is experiencing today appears to be proof that support for an elite unit that works for a corrupt dictator can lead to more terrorism and insecurity. This type of mistake is one of the hallmarks of the so-called war on terror and has been repeated, in various forms, in Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia, Yemen, and numerous other countries. In Cameroon, for example, the Rapid Intervention Brigade, an elite unit that the U.S. has worked with to fight Boko Haram in the north of the country, has been accused of numerous human rights violations while fighting Anglophone separatist groups in western Cameroon.

At the heart of the surveillance operations are small, unarmed turboprop aircraft disguised as private planes. Equipped with hidden sensors that can record full-motion video, track infrared heat patterns, and vacuum up radio and cellphone signals, the planes refuel on isolated airstrips favored by African bush pilots, extending their effective flight range by thousands of miles. The nature and extent of the missions, as well as many of the bases being used, have not been previously reported but are partially documented in public Defense Department contracts. The operations have intensified in recent months, part of a growing shadow war against al-Qaeda affiliates and other militant groups. The surveillance is overseen by U.S. Special Operations forces but relies heavily on private military contractors and support from African troops.

https://news.grabien.com/story-ocasio-cortez-millennials-were-world-going-end-12-years-if-w OCASIO-CORTEZ: “And I think the part of it that is generational is that millennials and people, in gen z, and all these folks that come after us are looking up and we’re like, the world is gonna end in 12 years if we don’t address climate change. You’re biggest issue, your biggest issue is how are going to pay for it? — and like this is the war, this is our world war II. And I think for younger people looking at this are more like, how are we saying let’s take it easy when 3000 Americans died last year, how are we saying let’s take it easy when the end person died from our cruel and unjust criminal justice system? How are we saying take it easy, the America that we’re living in today is dystopian with people sleeping in their cars so they can work a second job without healthcare and we’re told to settle down. It’s a fundamental separation between that fierce urgency of now, the why we can’t wait that King spoke of. That at some point this chronic reality do reach a breaking point and I think for our generation it reached that, I wished I didn’t have to be doing every post, but sometimes I just feel like people aren’t being held accountable. Until, we start pitching in and holding people accountable, I’m just gonna let them have it.” Dam, she's all over the board here! wth? :radioactive:

https://www.wsj.com/articles/americas-other-endless-war-somalia-11547738433 Somalia is one in a series of American wars unleashed by the Sept. 11 attacks, from Afghanistan and Syria to Niger and Yemen. On any given day, across a swath of Africa, South Asia and the Middle East, hundreds of U.S. troops might find themselves dropping bombs on or exchanging gunfire with any number of armed Islamist organizations—al-Shabaab, Islamic State, the Taliban, the Haqqani network and al Qaeda’s branches in the Maghreb or the Arabian Peninsula. It was al-Shabaab’s rise from Somalia’s anarchy that brought the U.S. back to the country in force. President George W. Bush began basing small numbers of U.S. troops in Somalia in 2007. President Barack Obama’s administration conducted air raids against al-Shabaab leaders. President Trump recently ordered a withdrawal from Syria and a sharp drawdown in Afghanistan. At the same time, he has declared parts of Somalia “areas of active hostility” and authorized an escalation of offensive operations against al-Shabaab. The Pentagon doubled to 500 the size of the U.S. force on the ground. U.S. airstrikes against al-Shabaab positions and fighters have tripled since 2016, to 47 last year, according to U.S. Africa Command. The military says it killed 338 al-Shabaab fighters in 2018.

Nancy Pelosi (D – Boomers) has a problem. But the big betrayal by the Pelosi Set is on war and empire. The same arguments animating the GOP insurrection against Trump by neoconservatives keeps Pelosi’s Smug Liberal interventionists happy. The leadership of both parties love the Empire. They work non-stop to keep that gravy train flowing. It’s how they stay in power, amass incredible personal fortunes and why the country at large — left, right and center — hates their guts.

https://www.msn.com/en-nz/news/world/entire-burkina-faso-government-resigns/ar-BBSs3DR The Prime Minister of Burkina Faso, Paul Kaba Thieba, has resigned from office along with his entire cabinet. No reason was given for the move, which was announced in a televised statement by the country's president. Mr Thieba, a former economist, had held the position since January 2016 when he was nominated by President Roch Marc Christian Kabore. His government has faced growing pressure over a rise in the number of kidnappings and jihadist attacks.

https://news.yahoo.com/trump-promises-announcement-border-talks-090000368.html (Bloomberg) -- President Donald Trump “major announcement” on Saturday will include a proposal to extend protections for so-called Dreamers for three years, in exchange for $5.7 billion in funds for border security, said a person familiar with the proposal. As well as protections for Dreamers, young people brought to the U.S. illegally as children, the plan would also extend the visas for Temporary Protection Status holders, though it’s unclear for how long. Trump’s concessions, expected to be outlined in a speech at 4 p.m. on Saturday, are aimed at getting Democrats back to the negotiating table in a bid to end a partial government shutdown now into its fifth week.
