I agree on the enemy of liberty part, just trying to understand why.

How did Seattle get so bad? No state tax, big economy, legal cannabis. Not exactly an enemy of liberty. Yet socialist culture and homeless all over. So what happened. Is it more than just importing Californians? Seattle was not like this in the 90s.

Our resident open-borders-under-any-circumstances "libertarians" are too afraid to comment because Ron's position on the wall (and border overall) is fascinatingly consistent with Swordsmyth

There absolutely exists a tyranny of the minority. It's called the minority rule. “The Most Intolerant Wins: The Dictatorship of the Small Minority” by Nassim Nicholas Taleb https://link.medium.com/Z2EZRAlbfV I highly recommend people read all of Taleb's works.

This was awesome. Ron was amazing, he is in superb physical shape. At 8:00 he gets into the wall, I think he is a lot more into the wall than some here would like to admit, believes protecting borders is the one of the few things government should be doing. Ron looked tremendous.

Say the budget is 5 trillion (rounded for simplicity) and the deficit is estimated at 1 trillion. So taxes reportedly will cover 80% of spending. I have a hard time believing 5T is all we're spending. Yes, it's monstrous, but I would not expect the off-budget spending to be anywhere near immaterial. No amount of hidden spending/printing would surprise me. So if $5 trillion is the public budget, how high do you think the total budget is?

Can scientists provide any proof that the sun rises in the east? Reptiles have bigger brains than the vermin at CNN.

If I believed she was sincere about anti-war, she would get serious consideration from me. I would think long and hard about accepting her socialist lunacy in exchange for bringing the troops home. I think many libertarians would. But the probability of her sincerity, by my calculation, is lower than 1996 Carmen Elektra blowing off Dennis Rodman for yours truly.

Trump seems fine with letting Manafort hang AND his lifelong friend Roger. I'm not sure if he could do anything, but the silence is disappointing. Trump doesn't defend many civilians, certainly not from censorship. And if he doesn't defend Roger, who besides his kin does he care to defend?

I don't think ending slavery was a motivation AT ALL for war. Nor did I say it was a "major motivation" for the South to secede. I called it a factor. Not THE factor. It was a legal tactic. "When the Southern states seceded, they were concerned to do so legally or constitutionally under the Constitution so that the North could not legally claim that it was an act of rebellion and invade the Southern states. To make this case, the South needed to make a case that the North had broken the Constitutional contract and that the South was seceding because the North had not kept to the Constitution. This presented a legal challenge for the South, because the reason for which the Southern states were seceding was the tariff, but the Constitution gave the federal government the right to levy a tariff. Therefore, the Southern states could not cite the tariff as a breach of the Constitutional fabric." https://www.lewrockwell.com/2018/11/paul-craig-roberts/a-civil-war-lesson-for-the-uneducated/ The fact remains that Jackson avoided a war over secession. If we're going to deify presidents, it should be Jackson, not Lincoln, that is immortalized (I am against deifying anyone).

I did. My comment stands. Slavery was a factor in secession, not a factor in the war. The cause of the war was tariffs. See Dilorenzo on Lincoln vs the Constitution. See Ron call the war a tariff war when running. Why did NJ, a slave state until the end of the war, not secede? Why were they allowed (along with other northern states) to have slaves? As Lincoln said, you can have your slaves if you collect the tariff.

kona started a thread US wars in History
When was the last constitutionally declared war before WWII? Was it the war directly preceding it? Wikipedia lists many wars in 20th century before WWII and also some in between WWI. What/how many wars throughout US history were truly constitutional? Is it simply a matter of congress declaring?

The point is that Jackson was able to avert a war over secession, as did every other president not named Lincoln. In comparison to Dishonest Abe, he was a saint.

Capitalism IS the Free Enterprise system. You are not describing capitalism, which this country hasn't seen in centuries. You are describing fascism, corporatism, globalism, all of which are crony capitalist, meaning not capitalist at all.
