"Caused by guns"? Damn those evil guns! Always jumping up into people's hands, dragging those people out to places filled with innocent, helpless (read disarmed) victims and forcing them to pull the trigger! Of course! It's so obvious now. /s

The Democratic Party is reeling after shoving Clinton down its own members' throats. Too bad we're too partisan to capitalize on that. We would actually have as good a chance of taking that party over as the full-on socialists do, if we weren't so convinced the Demoncrats (TM) have cooties.

God knows how they phrased that question, to get that result. But that's irrelevant. Massie came on and said, I'm trying to remove the regulation that tries to make all schools gun free zones. And Todd says, 65% of Americans disagree with you. Todd had no poll which measured how many Americans think schools should no longer be gun free zones, and he was deliberately vague about what the poll was about. I'm going to try to refute what you say by saying 65% of Americans disagree with you about something else entirely, and call it journalism. Good job, Chuck Todd! And now that you've redefined the word 'journalism', what word do we use for journalism? And do we keep using the word 'propaganda'? Do we only call it propaganda when Russia does what you do, and call it 'journalism' when you do it?

Well, I see a different dynamic at play. The MSM had to pretend to hate Trump during the campaign, even as they gave him unrelenting free publicity, because that's how you get a tool nominated when your polls are telling you 94% of Republicans hate you and want someone of whom you disapprove. Now that he's in place and doing the Establishment's bidding, what do they do? Continue to pretend to hate him, and so further the divide and conquer game? Decide 'he's not so bad', so you don't have to criticize him for doing your bidding? How do they do both at the same time? It's fun to watch them tie themselves in knots.

Chuck Todd just said 65% of America disagrees with Massie, who is advocating rescinding 'Gun Free Zone' status for schools, and flashes a stat that 65% want unspecified 'stricter gun control'. All Massie can do at this point is de-spin Todd's spin. But he's doing it well. Right down to the last second.

Funny how the same mainstream media that tells us 24/7 how much it hates Trump rushes to cover his ass when the going actually gets rough. Trump's not the Establishment, but when the Post covers the Establishment's ass, it also covers Trump's ass. How does that work? I need a Trumpsplaination.

Steve Westly, former California controller and Calpers board member - manager of the largest public pension fund in the US, made a stunning admission, confirming everything: "The pension crisis is inching closer by the day. CalPERS just voted to increase the amount cities must pay to the agency. Cities point to possible insolvency if payments keep rising but CalPERS is near insolvency itself. It may be reform or bailout soon." The pension crisis is inching closer by the day. @CalPERS just voted to increase the amount cities must pay to the agency. Cities point to possible insolvency if payments keep rising but CalPERS is near insolvency itself. It may be reform or bailout soon.https://t.co/RjThekwvNB — Steve Westly (@SteveWestly) February 22, 2018 Westly was referring to an editorial laying out "the essence" of California’s pension crisis, exposed last week when the $350 billion California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS) made a "relatively small change" in its amortization policy. Specifically, the CalPERS board voted to change the period for recouping future investment losses from 30 years to 20 years. While this may not sound like much, the bottom line is that it would require the California state government and thousands of local government agencies and school districts "to ramp up their mandatory contributions to the huge trust fund." As author Dan Walters observes, with client agencies – cities, particularly – already complaining that double-digit annual increases in CalPERS payments are driving some of them towards insolvency, the new policy - which kicks in next year - will raise those payments even more. “What we are trying to avoid is a situation where we have a city that is already on the brink, and applying a 20-year amortization schedule would put them over the edge,” a representative of the League of California Cities, Dane Hutchings, told the CalPERS board before its vote. CalPERS, however, has no choice because as both Walters and Westly claim, America's largest public pension fund itself is on the brink, "and the policy change is one of several steps it has taken to avoid a complete meltdown." As we have reported previously, the Calpers system, once more than 100 percent funded, now has scarcely two-thirds of what it would need to fully cover all of the pension promises to current and future retirees. And that assumes it will hit an investment earnings target of 7%per year, that many authorities criticize as being too optimistic. Last In December we also reported that the increasingly panicked fund, decided to boost its stock allocation to 50% in order to raise its future liability discount rate to 7%, as any reduction in stock allocations would also lead to a lower discount rate which in turn which would require more contributions from cities, towns, school districts, etc. and could bring the whole ponzi crashing down.Amusingly, one Calpers board member argued to raise the equity allocation even higher, to 60%, so that the discount rate was greater than the current 7% in order to make the books appears "better." Ironically, it was just a decade ago that Calpers' lofty equity allocation resulted in a staggering losses, and the current dead end. The trust fund lost about $100 billion in the Great Recession and never has fully recovered. In December 2016, Calpers voted to lower its earnings projection to 7.0% – it had been 7.5% – hoping to avoid another disaster were the economy to turn sour; since then it has been taking quiet steps to lever up its equity exposure once again.

Michigan lawmakers have been trying unsuccessfully for years to overhaul or get rid of the state's costly no-fault auto insurance system. Now, a bipartisan group of lawmakers thinks it has the answer: Get rid of the requirement for mandatory auto insurance coverage altogether. The "Macomb Solution" proposal, named because the bills are sponsored primarily by representatives from Macomb County, would allow drivers to get insurance, or not. Drivers could continue to buy unlimited or limited coverage or none at all. Only two states in the nation — Virginia and New Hampshire — have no or limited auto insurance requirements for their drivers, according to the Insurance Information Institute. “This package of bills is no different than going through a cafeteria line. You are only paying for the items you select. Car insurance should work the same way," said Rep. Peter Lucido, R-Shelby Township. "Those who do not have the money or wish to assume risk of loss from injury, property damage and lawsuits can choose to not buy auto insurance at all." Read the NRA’s full statement below: The more than five million law-abiding members of the National Rifle Association have enjoyed discounts and cost-saving programs from many American corporations that have partnered with the NRA to expand member benefits. Since the tragedy in Parkland, Florida, a number of companies have decided to sever their relationship with the NRA, in an effort to punish our members who are doctors, farmers, law enforcement officers, fire fighters, nurses, shop owners and school teachers that live in every American community. We are men and women who represent every American ethnic group, every one of the world’s religions and every form of political commitment. The law-abiding members of the NRA had nothing at all to do with the failure of that school’s security preparedness, the failure of America’s mental health system, the failure of the National Instant Check System or the cruel failures of both federal and local law enforcement. Despite that, some corporations have decided to punish NRA membership in a shameful display of political and civic cowardice. In time, these brands will be replaced by others who recognize that patriotism and determined commitment to Constitutional freedoms are characteristics of a marketplace they very much want to serve. Let it be absolutely clear. The loss of a discount will neither scare nor distract one single NRA member from our mission to stand and defend the individual freedoms that have always made America the greatest nation in the world. Heading into the weekend, the Italian government massively stepped up security across the country in anticipation of demonstrations by anti-fascist and far-right groups, ahead of the general election on March 04. Italians will go to the polls next Sunday, in an election that could rebalance the political environment or send shockwaves through the European Union. According to CNBC, here are the three leading candidates dominating the race: Silvio Berlusconi, former prime minister and head of Forza Italia. Matteo Renzi, the embattled leader of the center-left Democratic Party (PD) and former prime minister who quit the post in 2016 after a referendum on constitutional reform failed. Luigi Di Maio, the anti-establishment 5 Star Movement’s (M5S) leader.
