Only an idiot would think that giving more money to the federal government will end pollution, overeating, obesity, diseases and cancer.

It sure does seem like the Trump administration has made it a point to after pedophiles. No wonder the liberals are so upset with him.

Imagine that... being on good terms with the non-libertarian president and maintaining a positive relationship. Certainly sounds like the smart way to have influence with the single most powerful government employee we have. Makes much more sense to me than being an asshole to the president and no ability to share libertarian ideas and approaches to current events... in my opinion.

Don't you think the bankers much more money from inflating the money supply than they would from having control of all of the gold? I don't think I understand your premise.

I think we all know that a gold standard would be good for the people and bad for the bankers and politicians... thus it is extremely unlikely to ever be restored.

I think 3rd parties are great, but until we have preferential voting I don't see the 2 party system being broken. Until then my opinion is that the GOP is the best course to beat back the Marxists. Improving the GOP seems to be the most effective path for improving liberty. No doubt the improvements will be very very slow, but that is better than going backward. If you prefer to spend your time and money within the Constitution party, I respect your decision even though I suspect it will be fruitless.

I didn't see this posted yet. I doubt this will happen, but I am glad to see it being considered. Has anyone else heard about this? Trump Fed pick wants to revive the gold standard. Here's what that means As President Donald Trump named his picks to fill two influential seats on the Federal Reserve's Board of Governors, the price of gold surged. That may be because one of the them, Judy Shelton, is a believer in the return to the gold standard, a money policy abandoned by the U.S. in 1971. Shelton is raising eyebrows among mainstream economists for her views, which include slashing the Fed's benchmark rate to zero and pegging the value of the dollar to gold prices. She's not the first Trump pick for the Fed to advocate a return to the gold standard, with his two previous failed Fed choices -- Stephen Moore and Herman Cain -- also advocating for a revival of the policy. In picking Shelton, Mr. Trump is aiming to place a supporter on the Federal Reserve, which he's argued is slowing economic growth and depressing the stock market by keeping interest rates too high. The Fed currently is maintaining its benchmark rate in a range of 2.25% to 2.5%, but Shelton has said she wants to lower rates "as fast, as efficiently, as expeditiously as possible." More at link

Just who is it that you picture voting for him? I would estimate Amash's chances of costing Trump the election are about 0%.

I think its funny that NBC was stupid enough to hire her and now they have to pay her for not working. Unfortunately for Amash, he has no such contract. We certainly will see what happens with Amash and I suspect there won't be much to see. Most likely he will fade away. Just another lost libertarian voice. Maybe he can get a job wherever the Southern Avenger works.

Megyn Kelly also became a household name on her way to becoming unemployed. She lost the trust of Republicans and never gained the trust of Democrats. Not a good place to be in political television. Maybe Amash will be able to turn this into a gig as an NBC talk show host, but I don't see that being successful. Sometimes bad things happen to people and it isn't a part of some grander plan or purpose. Being a household name isn't necessarily a step to something better... just ask Larry Craig.

After Ron Paul quit the Republican party in 1985, he came back to it years later. When he returned to Congress as a Republican in 1996, it was because he saw that the best path forward was through the GOP and not the Libertarian party. In 2007 Dr. Paul and his campaign asked libertarians like myself to join the GOP. While I was reluctant to do this, I realized he was older and wiser and it made sense. I think it is quite obvious that the Libertarian party will not be able to compete with the Republican and Democrat parties. I also think that in the last 12 years, we have seen the GOP move away from the neocon persuasion and more toward libertarian positions. As flawed as the GOP is, it is the best path forward. My view is that we should continue the effort that was started in 2007 and do our best to promote liberty through the GOP. That makes a ton more sense that aligning with the Democratic Socialist party. There is no other viable choice.

Exactly. This is a great time to make a stink about FISA abuse. We all knew it would be abused and here it is happening at the highest level and what does Amash have to say about it? Wasted opportunity.

Why does Amash has to say nice things about Trump? What if he just didn't make a point to call for an impeachment he should know will never happen? Given that Trump absolutely won't be impeached, it seems to me that the smarter approach would be to just continue working for his constituents. Lining up with AOC and the gang is the definition of political stupidity.

What a shame. Amash could have built a bridge with Trump and helped push the GOP in a more libertarian direction, just as Rand Paul does, but instead he chose to burn bridges. While Rand doesn't see eye to eye with Trump on many issues, he does have an open line of communication and the respect of Trump. Amash now has no influence and we libertarians will lose one of the few voices we have in D.C. TDS is a terrible disease. Rep. Justin Amash (R-MI), the Michigan Never Trump GOP congressman who recently publicly backed impeachment of President Donald Trump, is now underwater in his own district according to a poll obtained exclusively by Breitbart News.

Foreign Aid to Israel puts the U.S. deeper in debt and is bad Foreign Policy

by Cleaner44 on 07-12-2011 at 11:47 PM
When the United States government gives foreign aid to any nation, it throws the concept of Fiscal Responsibility completely out the window.

The U.S. is deeply in debt and must continually borrow money from nations such as China just to operate on a daily basis. Borrowing money to give away to foreign nations that do not pay into our national treasury is fiscally irresponsible. Borrowing money to give to Israel is a heavy burden on the American taxpayer and we simply can not afford

Fiscal Responsibility: Ron Paul vs. Mitt Romney

by Cleaner44 on 06-25-2011 at 04:00 PM
When it comes to the issue of fiscal responsibility both Ron Paul and Mitt Romney understand that the spending of the U.S. federal government is out of control. The annual budget deficits are leading to an ever increasing national debt that is unsustainable. The federal spending must be cut massively in order to balance the budget and that means massive cuts to the size of the federal government.

There are three steps that must be taken in order to get to a point of fiscal responsibility.
