The situation around student loans is truly complex.
I took out a student loan years ago and was quite taken aback by the skyrocketing interest rates. It felt like I was misled about the true nature of the loan, and it became overwhelming. I managed to get a partial refund on that loan due to the unreasonable terms.
The moral side of taking out a loan means it should be repaid, but students should never be taken advantage of in their pursuit of education. If someone just loses interest in their studies, I don't think they should just get a free pass on loan forgiveness. But in cases where the loan contract is dubious or exploitative, there needs to be intervention.
For those willing to get a refund or forgiveness, I recommend to visit Bankruptcy Law Center site. Their lawyers helped me with my case.
