Be patient as Tech evolves. I think the presence of GNU/Linux and the Free Open Source Software movement helps. I also think Television Media will eventually die and be replaced by on-demand streaming content including news. The old commercial driven 24 Hour News cycle constantly trying to hold attention for ratings is a disaster. I hope Radio news dies as well to be replaced by something like subscriber premium podcasts. I'm also holding out and hoping Facebook's dominance is vulnerable. If we keep advancing, I wonder if highly advanced portable fabrication Tech could lead to so much self sufficiency, people would be more free.

I gotta give most of the credit to Rand since he delivered the idea and got it through, but you have to give Trump some credit for helping him out - he couldn't do it on his own. Does anybody here think that Hillary would have helped Rand pass this?

It was the carbs that kept her overweight - starches, sugars, etc.. cause she is losing weight now and eating more dairy than she did before. If you eat oranges, apples, grapes, potatoes, rice and beans all day you will get fat too. If you replace most of the sugars and starches with non-starchy vegetables, seeds, nuts and oils then you will probably not gain weight.

I see technology as empowering people, which I suppose can be good or bad or merely squandered. As for aggression, it sounds like some people here are want to see the system collapse and then pick up the pieces in a harsher survival of the fittest world of some kind. Maybe some see Taxation as Theft or aggression, but I don't see throwing away what we have now to solve that as a good trade off.

Uh, no my scenario HAS EVERYTHING to do with the studies you posted. I described PRECISELY how a study could come to the false conclusion that it came to, which is, a conclusion that is literally retarded.. I'm sorry, but anybody who says meat causes diabetes literally sounds retarded, it's like saying water is dry. This is basic logic: People are told foods in Section A are healthy and foods in Section B are unhealthy. People who want to be healthy eat foods out of Section A, people who are not concerned typically eat foods out of Section B. Section B has a lot of refined carbs and things that cause diabetes, and it also has red meat which does not cause diabetes. So people who eat food out of section B get diabetes, not because they are eating red meat, but because they are eating everything else in that category. People who try to eat healthy eat foods out of Section A, which has less meat and far less red meat, and also less refined carbs and starches. Meat doesn't cause diabetes, there are plenty of scientific studies that prove precisely what I am saying, you are insanely wrong. That doesn't mean you are going to get diabetes, because you don't eat a lot of refined carbs and sugar and starches. But what it does mean is that you are giving people really bad health advise.

I am not sure if that is a good idea because it replaces one system of brainwashing with another, and both achieve the exact same thing, fixed habits of reaction to any figure of authority. I think his best chance is to eliminate the instruction of others, including either of us, and do it for himself.

First of all, understand that you need to have Many Goals, not just ones that suit what you want. That is usually the hardest thing to do as a parent. The way that many of the lessons that achieve the goals is often very counter intuitive, and will go completely against your instincts as a parent. Thats the basic idea of Reverse Psychology, but when that label is not clearly understood, efforts to try to apply reverse psychology can easily backfire. I am sure that you dont want to see your kid fail at all. Most parents dont. But, at the same time, most parents set their kids up to fail because they have become over protective and not letting the children learn how to cope with failures. It is one of the most important lessons any person can learn in life. Its also why there are theories out there that say that the A Student often works for the C Student. The reason for that is the C Student is used to things not working out perfectly, and having the tenacity to continue working towards a solution, while the A Student simply shuts down if things dont work out perfectly for them immediately. One critically important factor is that you have to REJECT THE GRADES OF PUBLIC SCHOOLS. I cant emphasize this enough. Everyone one is good at something. And not everyone is interested, or good at the things we are expected to be good at. Imagine yourself in school. You fail an Art class. Then you go home to your parents, and they tell you "its okay, not everyone is good at drawing or art". What that teaches is that Art itself as a focus is useless, and the level of interest you have is irrelevant because the demands of society comes first. Now, imagine you come home from school. Not your kid, but YOU. YOU failed math. You simply did not understand. You get your ass handed to you because it is considered a fundamental skill that you must excel at. The psychological consequences of this type of judgement are tremendous. It starts with creating a sense of self doubt which later leads to other major problems such as emotional dependency on authority as well as teaching that everything is hard. If you need to see the results of making children feel shame or guilt for getting poor grades in emphasized subjects, just look at the Youth of America today. Do you think they have any self esteem what so ever? Any confidence? Any ambition? A few do, but not enough to place the US as even a decent place to live any more. The Grades that your kid receives from ANY Public School MUST be taken into context of the School. Did your kid fail in school, or did School itself fail your kids? Now, your kid is good at something. And not just at texting or posting selfies. But there are other hidden dormant underlying and often undiscovered skills your kid is probably an absolute genius at. Those are what need to be found and encouraged because of the secondary lesson of "if you are good at this, what else are you good at"? That type of encouragement builds Self Esteem, Self Worth and maintains a Healthy Interest in many areas they could potentially be great at. If you only focus on the bad stuff and only what the Professionals tell you, then you are setting your kid up for failure and teaching them to undermine any Self Reliance. Fish are great at swimming. But if you teach a Fish that it is stupid based on its ability to climb a tree, then the Fish will grow up and believe it is a worthless piece of shit for the rest of its life. And that is exactly what Public School does. Your job as a parent is to offer as much incentive which turns your child into a confident and self reliant person. It is hard enough to do that, but, now that you know you have to resist the urge to accept the passing judgement of a system that sets your kid up for failure, you have twice as much work to do. We are always told to "think before we speak". That holds true even as adults. If you punish a kid for disobedience, what is the...

From your link: (most)Fruits are also acidic. Acidity doesn't cause diabetes or even insulin resistance. To cause these things, you have to trigger an insulin response in the body with sugar of some kind. (Breads do it as glycogen, for example) The insulin response fleshmeats trigger is insignificant.

As smarter foreign policy and modern leaner military. I sometimes we're always arming ourselves like we're still in the Cold War. Otherwise, maybe there is potential for drone tech having a role in transporting goods so less road damage. Or do the opposite of that Foxconn nonsense coming to Wisconsin. These colossal businesses should be paying taxes, not getting huge breaks. Thats not smaller government exactly, but rebalancing the tax burden.

Can you figure a way to provide "modernity" with far less government? Regardless our fine government will see to it that our collectively cushy lifestyle ends before long what with pissing off folks from all corners of the globe. Somebody will manage to strike a resounding blow, probably sooner than later, whether it's biological or to the power grid, life will tend to be far from cushy...

I'm for what we've achieved even with our flaws. I don't follow the ideas mentioned here that we need to destroy America so it can be rebuilt. I'm also not sure what the appeal is for the embrace of Dog-eat-dog survival of the fittest. I think we have to much of that and its what leads to things like ENRON. Not trying to push for a central architect of society, but questioning the appeal of that kind of cut throat culture or why people want a more primitive lifestyle or dislike modernity so much.
