Swordsmyth replied to a thread Roku in Science & Technology
Roku is the latest Big Tech company to censor radio host and TV personality Alex Jones’ Infowars, as the company deleted a fan-made Infowars Live channel less than 24 hours after it went public on the platform. In a now-deleted tweet, Roku first promised to protect the First Amendment rights of all Americans and allow the content to remain on the platform. It was later followed up with a second tweet explaining their decision to delete the app. Speaking to Big League Politics via phone, the creator of the channel, John, who preferred to keep his last name anonymous, explained that he is in no way associated with or employed by Infowars. A software developer by profession, John explains that the channel was made as a personal project, so he could enjoy Infowars’ programming on a television set. John, who describes himself as a decade-long fan of Infowars, began work on the now-deleted app on Veterans Day of 2018, deciding to find a new way to consume Infowars content when the company was banned from Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and its mobile app was banned from Apple and Android devices. After going through a lengthy review process to make sure the channel would meet Roku’s standards, it was published early during the evening on January 14, 2019. “I started to realize the monopoly these technology companies have on our lives,” John explained, “I really started thinking critically about this, and thought that as a developer, I can’t make an app and just send it to someone’s phone. With Roku, I could make a private channel.” He then used this feature to make a beta version of the channel, which he shared with a limited group of friends and family as he continued to test and program the application along side his wife, who provided graphic design work for the project.

House Republicans revealed that the FBI's former top lawyer, James Baker, has been under active federal investigation for leaking information to the media. A Monday letter from GOP Reps. Jim Jordan and Mark Meadows to Connecticut US attorney John Durham asks for an update on the leak probe. The investigation was revealed to Jordan and Meadows during Congressional investigations, when Baker's attorney, Daniel Levin, refused to let him answer lawmakers' questions. "I’m sorry, I’m going to cut – not let him answer these questions right now," Levin interjected when Jordan asked about Baker's interactions with reporters. "You may or may not know, he’s been the subject of a leak investigation which is still – a criminal leak investigation that’s still active at the Justice Department," Levin continued. Meadows cut in, asking "You’re saying he’s under criminal investigation? That’s why you’re not letting him answer?" to which Levin replied "Yes." While the subject of the media leaks is unknown, a confidential source told the Daily Caller's Chuck Ross that the leak investigation is a nothingburger. "I’m 100 percent confident they did not find any wrongdoing," said the source, adding that the investigation discussed during the hearing "is not a new or reopened investigation" separate of the one reported in December 2017 by the Washington Post. Levin’s exchange with Republicans followed after Baker discussed interactions he had with Mother Jones reporter David Corn, who met with dossier author Christopher Steele prior to the 2016 election. It is unclear what alleged leak Baker was under investigated for. A spokesman for Durham declined comment.

I have yet to see convincing evidence that it is genetic but I am willing to consider the possibility. Acting on any such weakness is a choice however.

I'm not self righteous, I have never claimed to be perfect, I have committed sins in my life and I have done my best to repent of them. None of that means that other sinners shouldn't be called on to repent.

If there is any genetic basis then acting on it is a sin, it would be a stumbling block that they would be expected to overcome, there are similar conditions related to other sins but none of them justify acting on the temptation.

The president of the European Council has dared British politicians to back remaining in the EU after Theresa May’s Brexit deal was voted down by the House of Commons by a historic margin of failure. After MPs rejected the plan by 432 to 202 Donald Tusk said: “If a deal is impossible, and no one wants no deal, then who will finally have the courage to say what the only positive solution is?” His European Commission counterpart Jean-Claude Juncker also warned that “time is almost up” in Brexit talks, telling Theresa May: “I urge the United Kingdom to clarify its intentions as soon as possible.” Guy Verhofstadt, the European parliament’s Brexit coordinator, said it was “the time to find out what UK parliamentarians want”. The EU’s legislature will debate the result early Wednesday morning. The prime minister lost the vote by a larger than expected margin on Tuesday night after her MPs deserted her and plunged her into the worst Commons defeat for a government for practically a century. Michael Barnier, the EU’s chief Brexit negotiator told reporters in Strasbourg: “Now it is time for the UK to tell us the next steps. On our side we will remain united and determined to reach an agreement.” He did not answer when asked whether he had faith in Theresa May. Mr Barnier met with MEPs from the European parliament’s Brexit steering group immediately following the vote. In a statement Mr Juncker said the European Commission had “invested enormous time and effort to negotiate the withdrawal agreement”, adding that the EU had shown “creativity and flexibility throughout” the process. “The risk of a disorderly withdrawal of the United Kingdom has increased with this evening’s vote,” he said. “While we do not want this to happen, the European Commission will continue its contingency work to help ensure the EU is fully prepared.”

Proclaiming the truth and calling sinners to repentance is quite biblical and it is what our society is desperately in need of. Failure to do so will bring the sins of the wicked on the heads of the "religious authorities" who fail to do it.

Talks have made no progress in resolving the United States' intention to withdraw from a nuclear arms treaty, U.S. and Russian diplomats said Tuesday.Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov met in Geneva with U.S. Undersecretary of State Andrea Thompson about the dispute over the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty. "On the whole, we are forced to state that there is no progress. The US position is frozen in its uncompromising and peremptory demands," Ryabkov said, state news agency Tass reported. Thompson said in a statement that "the meeting was disappointing as it is clear Russia continues to be in material breach of the treaty and did not come prepared to explain how it plans to return to full and verifiable compliance." Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Tuesday that Ankara would set up a "security zone" in northern Syria suggested by US President Donald Trump.Erdogan's comments came a day after he had a telephone conversation with Trump to ease tensions after the US leader threatened to "devastate" the Turkish economy if Ankara attacks Kurdish forces in Syria. Turkey has welcomed Washington's planned withdrawal of some 2,000 US troops from Syria but the future of US-backed Kurdish militia forces labelled terrorists by Ankara has poisoned ties between the NATO allies. Erdogan said he had a "quite positive" telephone conversation with Trump late on Monday where he reaffirmed that "a 20-mile (30 kilometre) security zone along the Syrian border... will be set up by us." Damascus meanwhile denounced Erdogan's "language of occupation" in talking about a security zone. "The statements made today by the Turkish president reaffirm that this regime... does not deal (with anyone) except in the language of occupation and aggression," state news agency SANA quoted a source at the Syrian foreign ministry as saying. The Turkish president said he would visit Russia on January 23 for a meeting with President Vladimir Putin over the US troop pullout plan. It isn't arbitrary at all, the illegal invaders make themselves members of the group when they engage in the activity of invading, that activity sends the following message: "We will break your laws, come and take your welfare, and outbreed you. Your own culture and values mean nothing to us." And just to leave us with no doubt the caravan members chanted: "No Borders. No Walls. No U.S.A. AT ALL!"

Think things are bad in the US and Europe when it comes to social media speech suppression? Check out, Africa. Will this be our future? Aware of the threat that social media poses to their power, repressive regimes in Africa have employed various methods to stifle internet-based mobilization. These include internet shutdowns, targeted social media applications shutdowns, website takedowns, extensive surveillance of digital communications, online propaganda, and the detention of online critics, writes Babatunde Okunoye for Foreign Affairs. According to Okunoye, in 2018, repressive governments adopted yet another tactic: taxes on social media usage. In countries such as Uganda, Benin, Tanzania and Zambia, there are now laws in place which impose daily taxes on social media and other over-the-top services. In Uganda, for instance, citizens have to pay 200 Ugandan Shillings (US $ 0.05) per day to access Facebook, Twitter, or WhatsApp as a law adopted last year. Citizens of Benin have had to pay 5 CFA francs ($0.008) per megabyte consumed through social media platforms like Facebook, WhatsApp, and Twitter as stipulated by Decree No. 2018 - 341 of July 25 2018. The decree also introduces a 5 percent fee, on top of taxes, on texting and calls.

You are just making things up now, the caravan has declared in words what all the illegals have declared by their actions: "No Borders. No Walls. No U.S.A. AT ALL!" That means: "We will break your laws, come and take your welfare, and outbreed you. Your own culture and values mean nothing to us."
