You said now was the wrong time. If now is the wrong time then YOU mast have some idea when the "right" time would be whether the military had a timetable or not, what would be the "right" time? And even from an interventionist standpoint this withdrawal is a masterstroke for American strategy if not for the MIC, let Turkey who has been backstabbing us waste lives and money beating up on Syria while Assad shoulders the burden of defending the treacherous Kurds, Iran may even go to war with Turkey to defend Syria and waste their blood and treasure.

In Louisiana's Saturday election, Republicans had a lot to cheer about. Among statewide office-holders, the incumbent GOP Lieutenant Governor (68 percent), Attorney General (66 percent), Treasurer (60 percent, and Agricultural Commissioner (58 percent) were all re-elected without the need for a run-off, under the state's 'jungle primary'-style system. It also appears that the solid Republican majorities in both state legislative chambers will remain intact -- with the GOP expanding its Senate advantage into super-majority territory by picking up a pair of Democratic seats: Confirmed: With 100% of precincts reporting statewide, the GOP has gained a supermajority in the Louisiana Senate. They flipped SD-28 & SD-38.— Nathaniel Rakich (@baseballot) October 13, 2019 Two major statewide races are headed to run-offs, and both are looking pretty good for Team Red. The incumbent Republican Secretary of State won a plurality of the vote, but didn't reach the bare majority threshold required to stave off the two-way election, scheduled for November 16. The Democrat in the contest only won about one-third of all votes, but because two other Republican challengers were in the mix -- combining for roughly 25 percent of the aggregate vote -- the sitting officeholder was held under 50 percent. All in, the trio of GOP candidates won 66 percent of the ballots for this office. This is going to be a Republican hold. Then there's the big one: The gubernatorial race. Democratic incumbent John Bel Edwards, a pro-life moderate, was unable to avoid a runoff, attracting just 46.6 percent of the 'jungle primary' vote. The two leading Republicans in the contest racked up 51 percent of the vote, with the top GOP vote-getter, businessman Eddie Rispone, advancing to directly challenge the governor in November. Those are ominous tea leaves for Gov. Edwards, underscored by this trend: My first map for #ElectionTwitter: Louisiana Governor shift from the 2015 Runoff to the 2019 Primary. Edwards' vote share dropped in 62 of 64 Parishes. The only two exceptions were Jefferson + Orleans in the Southeast, reflecting Democrats' increasing suburban strength.#LAGOV pic.twitter.com/8NE35dgltR— Ryan Matsumoto (@ryanmatsumoto1) October 13, 2019 The Communications Director for the Republican Governors Association put out this statement in response to Saturday's results: "No amount of goalpost-moving from Team @JohnBelforLA or @DemGovs can disguise that this was a stunningly poor performance for JBE. Days ago they were confidently predicting he'd beat 50. He lost vote share across the board & didn't even get a majority in his home parish." A plugged-in Louisiana GOP source tells me that the gubernatorial battle is now leans Republican, adding that "DJT coming down definitely got GOP votes out." If not now then when? There will NEVER be a "good" time to leave according to those who want us to play world cop but really "now" is always the best time to leave any of these tarbaby wars. If you really want Trump to withdraw from other places and finish withdrawing completely from Syria then don't complain about his timing.

On Sunday, members of the Antifa movement in Portland, Oregon held a remembrance event for an activist that was killed. During their demonstration, they vandalized Oregon's Democratic Party headquarters. Named "Light The Sky For Sean," Antifa used flares and fireworks in honor of 23-year-old Sean Kealiher, who was killed in a hit-and-run near a popular pub for members of Antifa. Kealiher was well-known member of the group and Rose City Antifa said, "Our sources indicate that this was not related to fascist activity." Ecuadorian President Lenin Moreno has repealed a controversial decree abolishing fuel subsidies, restoring them in their original form, the BBC reported Oct. 14. Moreno added that he was willing to consider revising sweeping austerity measures, including plans to cut salaries for government employees. After the announcement, protest leaders said they terminated their mobilization efforts to oppose the fuel subsidy cuts. Ethiopia will reduce the projected capacity of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) by roughly 1,300 megawatts, the Addis Fortune reported Oct. 12. Addis Ababa's decision to downgrade capacity may be an attempt to rationalize the project and accelerate its timeline, although the move will have little effect on Ethiopia's regional spat with Egypt over the dam. Recent news articles reinforce reports that have been carried by major-media outlets for over a year: Employment levels in blue-collar jobs have been growing at their fastest rate in more than 30 years, with most of the growth taking place since Donald Trump took office. The Investment Watch blog ran a report on October 12 that was headlined “Under Trump, employment for the non-college-educated is the best it’s been in 50 years.” The article noted: “Blue-collar professionals such as plumbers and mechanics are earning more than the average salary for white-collar jobs — and they don’t require a traditional college degree, according to a recent Bloomberg report.” That statement is particularly significant in the face of multiple reports in the news of late about the burden of college debt. CNBC reported last year that more than 44 million Americans collectively hold nearly $1.5 trillion in student debt. When they graduate, the average student loan borrower has $37,172 in student loans, a $20,000 increase from 13 years ago. The article noted that though college graduates still earn more than non-graduates, avoiding student debt could make trade schools more appealing. Many trade programs are covered in part by employers, and state-sponsored programs in Michigan and Georgia offer trade degrees tuition-free. This phenomenon was analyzed by reporters at Issues & Insights last May. The Issues & Insights writers found from analyzing the data that 1.2 million goods-producing jobs were created in the U.S. economy since Trump took office — more than twice as many as were created during the last 27 months of the Obama administration. During Obama’s last 27 months in office, the economy created 109,000 manufacturing jobs, compared with 470,000 created from January 2017 through May 2019 under Trump. Jobs in the durable-goods manufacturing industry declined during this time under Obama. Blue-collar workers are seeing stronger wage gains as well, noted the report, with weekly wages for goods-producing jobs up $70 under Trump compared with $39 under Obama.

Forbes faced ridicule and condemnation after the media outlet encouraged women to travel alone to Pakistan, including to areas where the Taliban is active. “Pakistan. It’s not exactly on every solo female traveler’s bucket list. But that doesn’t mean that it shouldn’t be,” states the article, which serves as promotional material for Vlogger Eva zu Beck, who made a video asserting that Pakistan “could be the world’s #1 tourism destination.” The article even notes how Beck headed straight into “Taliban Territory” during the trip, which is obviously a fantastic idea for any female traveling alone. Respondents to the article on Twitter were not so enthusiastic about Pakistan being on a solo female traveler’s “bucket list.” “This would only be a good idea if it were the last item on her bucket list,” commented Yasmine Mohammed. “Is the bucket for her head to be carried around in,” quipped Michael Malice.

In August, we reported that at least half of China's breeding pigs have died from African swine fever or been slaughtered to contain the spreading of the disease. New figures published Monday from the Ministry of Agriculture of the People's Republic of China showed the pig-apocalypse continues to get worse. The country's herd in Sept. collapsed 41.1% YoY. China is losing millions of pigs to an outbreak of African swine fever https://t.co/VypseSLjPK pic.twitter.com/1IWZmpNBJX — Inkstone (@InkstoneNews) October 4, 2019 While government estimates are more conservative, the recent plunge in pig herds across the country could be around 50% to 55% by late 4Q19, Rabobank told Reuters. "Next year, especially in the first half, production will go down further," Pan Chenjun, senior analyst at the bank, told Reuters last Friday. The supply of the country's favorite meat has collapsed by 40% to 50% this year, depending on what statistics you read. This has already devastated rural communities and pushed up food prices to crisis levels. "Something like 50% of sows are dead," Edgar Wayne Johnson, a veterinarian who has spent 14 years in China, told Reuters in June. As the chart below shows, the Pork Index Guangdong Daily priced in dollars per kilogram has soared to record highs in Oct., adding pressure on Beijing to contain food-price inflation during the trade war with the US.
