Florida Deputies Will Now Carry Rifles On School Grounds: Broward Sheriff Broward County Deputies will begin carrying rifles on school grounds in the wake of last week's shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, according to Broward Sheriff Scott Israel. “This morning, I implemented a practice within the Broward Sheriff’s Office and spoke to Mr. Runcie and he’s fully cooperative of my decision, that our deputies who are qualified and trained will be carrying rifles on school grounds from this point forward,” Israel said in a Wednesday press conference. "Schools as soft targets need to be fortified," said the Sheriff, who said that officers would safely secure weapons when not in use. "When they are not carrying the rifle, until we look for gun locks and gun lockers, the only place when they're not slinging the rifle, that will be allowed to be stored, will be in their locked police vehicle," Israel said. The sheriff of the Florida county where a shooter killed 17 people at a high school last week has ordered all deputies who qualify to begin carrying rifles on school grounds. https://t.co/M0gteqMa6Z pic.twitter.com/qp5NpvJIcQ — KION News 5 46 (@KION546) February 21, 2018 When asked by a reporter if AR-15s will be carried, Israel said that some would. "It will be done safely," replied Israel, "We need to be able to defeat any threat that comes onto campus." Israel also discussed the fact that Marjory Stoneman Douglas' School Resource Deputy was on campus the day of the shooting: “Deputy Peterson was on campus. As you all know, he’s the School Resource Deputy. He was armed. As our command staff moves forward in this investigation the response and actions of Deputy Peterson will be looked at and scrutinized as will everyone.” The Sheriff's full press conference can be viewed https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js&quot; charset=&quot;utf-8&quot;></script>"]here.

President Trump suggested that arming teachers would be an effective method of preventing future school shootings while sitting down for a listening session on school shootings at the White House on Wednesday. "If you had a teacher who was adept at firearms, they could very well end the attack very quickly, and the good thing about a suggestion like that -- and we're going to be looking at it very strongly, and I think a lot of people are going to be opposed to it. I think a lot of people are going to like it. But the good thing is you're going to have a lot of people with that," said the President. President Trump on concealed carry for teachers: "If you had a teacher who was adept at firearms, they could very well end the attack very quickly." pic.twitter.com/SnKjyYH0uw — Josh Caplan (@joshdcaplan) February 21, 2018 Trump said that athletic director at Stoneman Douglas High School, Chris Hixon, had "saved a lot of lives," however if he had been armed, he could have saved more. "He wouldn't have had to run, he would have shot, and that would have been the end of it," he said, adding that he only supported concealed carry for people "adept" with guns. Trump also knocked gun-free zones around schools. "A gun-free zone to a maniac, because they're all cowards, a gun-free zone is 'let's go in and attack,'" he said. "I really believe if these cowards knew that the school was well-guarded from the standpoint of pretty much having professionals with great training, I think they wouldn't go into the schools to start with, it would pretty much solve your problem."

I think Trump is planning to talk a lot and panic people into buying the gun industry's overstock and then do nothing. Just to be clear: I condemn that action as much as I do gun control.

In an announcement that, in many ways, mirrors the sudden departure of former Lululemon Chairman and CEO Laurent Potdevin earlier this month, Ford announced late Wednesday that Raj Nair, an executive vice president and the president of Ford North America, would be leaving "effective immediately" due to unspecified reports of "inappropriate behavior." An internal review determined that certain behavior by Nair was "inconsistent" with Ford's code of conduct. "We made this decision after a thorough review and careful consideration," said Ford President and CEO Jim Hackett. "Ford is deeply committed to providing and nurturing a safe and respectful culture and we expect our leaders to fully uphold these values." Nair said he "sincerely regrets" his actions... The Italian government is one of the most bankrupt in the world; its debt level is an unbelievable 132% of GDP– and rising. In other words, the Italian government’s debt is substantially larger than the value of the entire Italian economy. It’s almost as bad as Greece, and it grows worse each year as the national government routinely runs budget deficits. Their only solution, of course, is hiking taxes and increasing regulation… exactly the opposite of what they should be doing. And, just like the ancient Romans, the government is on a witch hunt for anyone they think (in their sole discretion) might be dodging taxes. They already have a system in place called the redditometro, an automated tool for the tax authorities to comb through income and expense records of Italian residents. The algorithm finds anyone whose expenses were higher than his/her income and presumes that s/he has been evading taxes. The irony here is pretty profound given that the Italian government itself has expenses that are higher than its income. After all, that’s how it ended up with such a prodigious debt level.

Stomach upset is among the most commonly reported side effects of ibuprofen. "The FDA advises ibuprofen be taken with food or milk in patients who have experienced stomach upset with this medication in the past," said Joshua Russell, MD at Legacy-GoHealth Urgent Care. Ibuprofen, like aspirin and naproxen (among other medications), is a type of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). "These medications can seriously damage the lining of the stomach," Dr. Russell said. "Taking ibuprofen on an empty stomach may cause irritation of the stomach lining and bleeding ulcers," said South Florida-based cardiologist Dr. Adam Splaver of Nanohealth Associates. "This holds true for all other NSAIDs as well as aspirin, which may reduce the stomach lining's ability to protect itself from the harsh acid produced to aid in the digestive process," he said. Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte is taking seriously the U.S. Intelligence Community's report tagging the firebrand leader a threat to democracy in Southeast Asia, his spokesman said on Wednesday. The report, produced by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, places Duterte alongside Cambodian's Hun Sen, the Rohingya crisis and Thailand's military-backed constitution as threats to democracy. "We view this declaration from no less than the intelligence department of the United States with some concern...," presidential spokesman Harry Roque told DZMM radio. Roque rejected the U.S. Intelligence assessment of Duterte as a threat to democracy. "I do not think that's true. He is a lawyer, he knows the law, he wants to uphold the rule of law, he knows about the bill of rights," he said. Pakistan has been given a three-month reprieve by a global watchdog over a U.S.-led motion to put the South Asian country on a terrorist financing watchlist, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif said late on Tuesday. Pakistan has been scrambling in recent months to avoid being added to a list of countries deemed non-compliant with anti-money laundering and terrorist financing regulations by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), a measure that officials fear could hurt its economy. FATF member states have been meeting this week in Paris, where it was expected that they would decide on a U.S. motion, backed by Britain, France and Germany, to have Pakistan added to the so-called “grey list” of countries which are not doing enough to comply with terrorist-funding regulations. Asif, who is currently on a visit to Russia, tweeted late on Tuesday that Pakistan’s “efforts have paid (off)” during a Feb. 20 meeting on the U.S.-led motion, suggesting there was “no consensus for nominating Pakistan”. He also suggested the meeting proposed a “three months pause” and asked for the Asia Pacific Group, which is part of FATF, to consider “another report in June”. What's interesting to me is how easily the public is conditioned/brainwashed. It wasn't even that many years ago that pretty much everyone agreed that transgenderism is a disorder… and now it's being "celebrated." And if you don't agree with that, then you're the bad guy. It reminds me who the temporary ruler of this world is. (John 12:31)
