Speaking to German newspaper Die Zeit, the executive director of the UN's World Food Programme, David Beasley, said that living conditions, mostly food distribution, in refugee camps in crisis-affected regions had deteriorated dramatically before the European migrant crisis struck in 2015. “We paid a heavy price for this mistake and I'm afraid we're about to make it once again,” Beasley believes. According to the UN food chief, while many asylum seekers wanted to stay in their home region, the lack of food has driven them away. “If they don’t have enough food, they will leave. And many of them would go to Europe,” Beasley said. Beasley also warned that while the UN has been seemingly making progress in fighting world hunger over the last 10 years, the number of people suffering hunger worldwide has now dramatically increased again; he added that the food crisis is caused mainly by wars and climate change. Yemen is threatened by famine because Saudi Arabia is blocking the country’s ports, preventing aid deliveries, urging Gulf countries not to stand aside but instead join the food aid program for crisis-stricken regions, Beasley said. A WFP report from March says that some 108 million people across the globe faced “crisis food insecurity or worse,” a dramatic increase from 2015 when the figure was 80 million. The document says that major food crises were fueled by “conflict, record-high food prices and abnormal weather patterns.” The number of asylum seekers in the EU during the second quarter of 2017 reached 149,000, according to statistical data from Eurostat. The applications mainly came from Syria, Nigeria and Afghanistan. Germany, Italy, France, Greece and the UK account for almost 80 percent of all first-time applicants in the union, the data shows. If Beasley is right, and Europe is indeed about to be flooded with millions of disgruntled migrants, the anti-establishment wave that brought brexit and countless subsequent tremors, will seem like a walk in the park next to the nationalistic backlash that will soon follow.

After rating agencies declared Venezuela in selective default and after a meeting with creditors on debt restructuring failed earlier this week, the International Swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDA)—a finance industry body—has voted that both Venezuela and its state oil firm PDVSA had defaulted on their debt payments. The vote by the New York-based industry group will trigger payouts on debt default insurance on its bonds, the so-called credit default swaps (CDS) that investors use to protect against defaults. In a unanimous 15-0 vote, the members of ISDA’s Americas Determinations Committee voted on Thursday that “a failure to pay credit event occurred with respect to Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.” The members of the committee—which includes Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan, Deutsche Bank, Barclays, and Credit Suisse, among others—decided to meet again on Monday, November 20, to continue discussions on how to proceed and discuss an auction that is expected to determine the amount that holders of CDS will be paid. The committee also voted that “a failure to pay credit event had occurred” with respect to PDVSA, and a more detailed analysis will be prepared. The group will also discuss on November 20 how to proceed with CDS on Venezuela’s oil firm’s bonds. More at: https://oilprice.com/Latest-Energy-News/World-News/Venezuela-Officially-In-Default.html

Communism has achieved all it was designed to achieve: an expression of murder and theft that's palpable to the masses. Not so different from other forms of State; for example, in fascism and in communism, risks are democratized while rewards are centralized within a tyranny. In feudal times at least, damage to a lord's lands and peasants from foreign invasion meant he lost too, and even into the high middle ages kings and lords were expected to, you know, lead their armies or the conscripts would not fight. There was skin in the game.

In order to give the government power to ban the slave trade without admitting slave to be property and not people they had to give it power over immigration and some of them wanted to give it that power either way.

Immigration is NOT commerce, the northern states were intent on denying that slaves were property that is why they covered all bases with "Migration or importation".

Franken has admitted his guilt and we have a photograph and yet nobody has even mentioned expelling him from the Senate, Moore denies everything and there is zero evidence or testimony with any credibility, as for the morons in the comments if the charges were proven about the girls below the age of consent then that would be worse but no one has even alleged rape. I don't see groping as a reason to expel Franken but I would not vote for anyone guilty of it, Moore is innocent however and if I lived in Alabama I would vote for him.

I wouldn't expect a Canadian to understand, but allow me to unfurl this delicate issue. You see, Al Franken is being doxxed by MSM because he drew attention to Leean's breasts, which are normally uncovered in public (albeit in pornos). The patriarchy will stop at nothing to suppress topless women, but Franken is a tireless crusader of social justice -- he needs our support to expose toplessness and welcome titties into the public discourse where they can enjoy equal rights. I believe this was Al's intent from the beginning. Unfortunately, the crafters of the public opinion and the law are against him, but they cannot fight us all if we unite for toplessness in America.

Republican Govs. Scott Walker of Wisconsin and Rick Scott of Florida did not hesitate for a second Wednesday when asked what Alabama Republican Senate nominee Roy Moore should do amid accusations that he was engaged in sexually inappropriate behavior with teenagers as young as 14 when he was in his 30s. “He should get out,” said Walker, chairman of the Republican Governors Association, which is holding its annual meeting a the JW Marriott Austin Wednesday and Thursday. “This is way above partisan politics,” said Scott, the association’s vice chairman. “This is about doing the right thing. It’s pretty clear what’s right and what’s wrong. This is not about Roy Moore. This is about victims.” “I think about my family,” Scott said. “I have daughters and I have grandsons and when you hear these media reports, it’s disgusting. You just can’t imagine that these things are happening. Whether you are talking about what’s happening in Alabama or L.A., D.C., or the media reports coming out of my state capital.” “He needs to do the right thing, and the right thing for the citizens of his state, and that means he gets out of the race,” Scott said.

In early October a group of European intellectuals published a conservative manifesto with 36 tenets defending 'old Europe' and its values, which we are republishing today in full: 1. Europe is our home. Europe belongs to us, and we belong to Europe. These lands are our home; we have no other. The reasons we hold Europe dear exceed our ability to explain or justify our loyalty. It is a matter of shared histories, hopes and loves. It is a matter of accustomed ways, of moments of pathos and pain. It is a matter of inspiring experiences of reconciliation and the promise of a shared future. Ordinary landscapes and events are charged with special meaning—for us, but not for others. Home is a place where things are familiar, and where we are recognized, however far we have wandered. This is the real Europe, our precious and irreplaceable civilization. 2. A false Europe threatens us. Europe, in all its richness and greatness, is threatened by a false understanding of itself. This false Europe imagines itself as a fulfilment of our civilization, but in truth it will confiscate our home. It appeals to exaggerations and distortions of Europe’s authentic virtues while remaining blind to its own vices. Complacently trading in one-sided caricatures of our history, this false Europe is invincibly prejudiced against the past. Its proponents are orphans by choice, and they presume that to be an orphan—to be homeless—is a noble achievement. In this way, the false Europe praises itself as the forerunner of a universal community that is neither universal nor a community. 3. The false Europe is utopian and tyrannical.

A California man has proposed a ballot measure to exempt residents who don’t have kids in state public schools from paying the taxes to fund them. The “California Education Tax Relief Act,” proposed by Lee Olson of Huntington Beach, would allow California residents with no children in the public school system to avoid paying taxes and fees designated for state school funding, KTVU reports. Last week, the state Attorney General’s Office gave approval for circulation of the initiative, allowing proponents to start collecting the signatures necessary to get a spot on the November 2018 ballot. Russian President Vladimir Putin will next week host Turkish and Iranian counterparts Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Hassan Rouhani for summit talks on Syria, officials from Turkey and Russia said Thursday. With the violence in Syria diminishing but still no political solution in sight, the three presidents will meet at Putin's official residence in the Black Sea resort of Sochi on November 22. The meeting -- the first such summit between the trio -- comes as Ankara, Moscow and Tehran cooperate with increasing intensity on ending the more than six-year civil war in Syria. They are sponsoring peace talks in the Kazakh capital Astana and also implementing a plan for de-escalation zones in key flashpoint areas of Syria. Turkey's presidential spokesman Ibrahim Kalin said that the three leaders would discuss progress in reducing the violence in Syria and ensuring humanitarian aid goes to those in need. Describing Iran, Russia and Turkey as the three "guarantor" countries, he said the talks would look at what they could do for a lasting political solution in Syria. Turkey's top diplomat Mevlut Cavusoglu said the foreign ministers of the three countries would meet in the southern Turkish city of Antalya by the end of the week. Confirming the summit, Putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov said it was just these three countries who were the "guarantors of the process of political settlement and stability and security that we see now in Syria". There was no immediate comment from Tehran. More at: https://www.yahoo.com/news/iran-russia-turkey-leaders-hold-syria-summit-next-204848510.html
