There has been no conspiracy by Big Oil to suppress climate change facts, District Judge William Alsup said at a court hearing on the suit brought against several Big Oil companies by the cities of San Francisco and Oakland. This means one of the main pillars of the plaintiffs’ case has been toppled. The suit alleged that the five Big Oil defendants engaged in “a large-scale, sophisticated advertising and public relations campaign” aimed at promoting the use of their products despite their awareness that these products were contributing to climate change. The Five Big Oil majors, including Exxon, Chevron, Shell, ConocoPhillips, and BP, were questioned by the judge on Wednesday on climate change as the two California cities seek billions from them to tackle environmental damage resulting, according to the plaintiffs, from the defendants’ activities. The five companies’ stance is that the lawsuit should be dismissed, Reuters noted in a report on the hearing, because control over the production of oil and gas and carbon emissions from the industry is the prerogative of environmental regulators and not courts. The Big Oil defendants have also argued the environmental damage the two cities’ authorities claim they have sustained is “speculative”, involving billions of people using oil and gas as well as long environmental processes. Offering to believe data during a debate while sending someone to double check it is nothing like signing the bill to see what is in it, especially since Rand and others had already been making the case for a veto.

Since he signed it he must have trusted them according to your theory. I know it isn't what you are proposing but it is the only theory that could allow you to continue having faith in Trump, your theory makes him an idiot and and an idiot can't MAGA.

So you are saying he thought he could trust them. Only a very stable IDIOT would think he could trust them. If you are going to have faith in DJTvsg your only option is to hope that he made a deal for something of more value.

You don't sign this bill as a "test", they failed the test when they sent him the bill. The only theory that can claim any silver lining is attached to this cloud would be that he cut a deal to get something else in return for signing it, only he can know if he did that or if it was worth it, we must condemn this bill and his action of signing it because we can't know and it is dubious even if true. This bill didn't get a veto, the fact that it might be slightly worse than he thought it was isn't likely to have made him veto it if he had known, if this didn't get a veto then it is hard to say anything will.

When it comes to Star Wars Universe-style tech breakthroughs, lightsabers, holograms and hyperdrive get all the love. But spare a thought, if you will, for the poor moisture farmers of Tatooine. Granted *spoiler* it didn’t end to well for Aunt Beru and Uncle Owen, but the idea of pulling water from the desert air was always a compelling one. A team at MIT is showing off a new device it’s been field testing in Tempe, Arizona that it says is capable of doing precisely that. The solar-powered system utilizes metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) that are able to pull water out of extremely dry desert air as low as 10-percent humidity — an impressive feat, given that most similar technologies require more than 50-percent. He threatened to VETO the bill, he didn't. There were plenty of overwhelmingly good reasons to to VETO the bill and there were NO good reasons to sign it. Not knowing about this specific reason isn't an excuse for signing, the entire bill is a case of "messing with Trump" and he signed it.

Australian nurses and midwives are being forced to announce their 'white privilege' before treating Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander patients - a move which has been slammed as 'racist to its core'. Graeme Haycroft, spokesperson for the Nurses Professional Association of Queensland, (NPAQ) told Sky News the addition to the code of conduct could have serious consequences for nurses and is simply 'racist'.The Board describes the move as 'a decolonising model of *practice based on dialogue, communication, power sharing and negotiation, and the acknowledgment of white privilege'. Mr Haycroft said 50 per cent of NPAQ members were opposed to the new rule. 'They have said "this is wrong, do something about it",' Mr Haycroft told host Peta Credlin. The inclusion of 'white privilege' in the code of conduct was first exposed by Cory Bernardi's Australian Conservatives. Senator Bernardi heavily criticised the move, labelling it as 'another virtue signal' and 'nonsensical'.

IF WHITE farmers want to flee for a “racist country” like Australia they should leave the keys to their houses and tractors behind, the head of South Africa’s radical Marxist opposition party says. But Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema, who recently declared his party was “cutting the throat of whiteness”, denied white farmers were being killed. “We don’t know violence, we know negotiations,” Malema told a packed Human Rights Day rally in Mpumalanga Stadium on Wednesday. “And we are very robust in our engagement sometimes. A racist country like Australia says: ‘The white farmers are being killed in South Africa.’ We are not killing them. Now Australia says: ‘Malema, EFF want to kill white farmers, they must come to Australia.’ “If they want to go, they must go. They must leave the keys to their tractors because we want to work the land, they must leave the keys to their houses because we want to stay in those houses. They must leave everything they did not come here with in South Africa and go to Australia.” His comments came as Australian Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton stared down criticism from “crazy lefties” as he pushed on with plans to bring white South African farmers to Australia. “They don’t realise how completely dead they are to me,” Mr Dutton told Sydney radio station 2GB on Thursday. During an appearance on The Laura Ingraham Show this week, Senator Rand Paul warned that “Absolutely, there is a deep state” and that it is actively working to “try to bring Trump down.” “The deep state is the intelligence agencies that do not have oversight,” Paul said, adding “Only eight people in Congress know what they’re doing, and traditionally, those eight people have been a rubber stamp to let the intelligence communities do whatever they want.” The Senator was referring to the majority and minority leaders of the House and Senate, in addition to the chairmen and ranking members of the two intelligence committees. “There is no skeptic among the eight people that are supposedly overseeing the intelligence community.” Paul warned. The Senator then warned that intelligence heads, with the rubber stamp of the ‘gang of 8’ have abused their positions. “John Brennan and James Clapper were doing whatever the hell they wanted, without any judicial warrants,” Paul declared. “I think there were numerous people in the Obama administration who were using intelligence — one, to try to bring Trump down; but two, also, they were using it for political purposes,” Paul stated, adding that “this is very, very worrisome.” “This is the real problem,” Paul said, noting that founding father James Madison warned about such over reach.

Charges have been dropped against 11 members of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s security detail that were accused of beating protesters in Washington, D.C. Federal prosecutors made the decision to drop the charges against 11 of out the 15 security members in connection with the incident. Police originally announced charges against 16 people in connection with the violent clashes in June. The scuffle took place last May after roughly two dozen protesters gathered outside of the Turkish Embassy to protest Erdogan’s policies during his visit to Washington. This week, Rocklin High School students are using social media to organize a pro-life walkout using the hashtag #life. “To honor all the lives of aborted babies pretty much. All the millions of aborted babies every year,” said organizer Brandon Gillespie. He says his history teacher inspired the idea. As thousands of students across the country walked out of class demanding strict gun laws, in honor of the Parkland shooting victims, Benzel was placed on paid administrative leave when she asked students to consider whether there’s a double standard in the national school walkout. “I would like a conversation about when is too much? And are we going allow this on the other side?” said Julianne Benzel The principal at Rocklin High declined to meet with us for an on-camera interview, but a district spokeswoman tells us, he does plan to sit down with the student about the possible abortion walkout, and that’s not going over well with some of his peers. Citigroup is setting restrictions on the sale of firearms by its business customers. The new policy, announced Thursday, prohibits the sale of firearms to customers who have not passed a background check or who are younger than 21. It also bars the sale of bump stocks and high-capacity magazines. It would apply to clients who offer credit cards backed by Citigroup or borrow money, use banking services or raise capital through the company. If business customers decline Citigroup’s restrictions, the bank said it would work with them to “transition their business away.” More at: https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2018-03-22/citigroup-enforces-gun-control-restrictions-customers
