The Washington Post has been busted by WSJ columnist Kimberly Strassel for intentionally withholding information from their reporting of Christine Blasey Ford's claim that Brett Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her at a high school party in the early 1980s, which "further undercuts the Ford accusation." Strassel obtained a copy of the email WaPo sent to Mark Judge, one of the teenagers Ford claims was at the party - revealing that the Post knew the names of those at the alleged party, as well as the fact that one of them was a woman - Ford's "longtime" friend Leland Keyser (then Ingham). Publicly, the Post reported that there were four boys at the party the same day they revealed to Judge that they knew there was a girl. What's more, WaPo now writes: "Before her name became public, Ford told The Post she did not think Keyser would remember the party because nothing remarkable had happened there, as far as Keyser was aware." And instead of reporting this, the Post allowed Ford's claim tha there were four boys at the party stand until word of Keyser's alleged attendance became public knowledge late last week. Then the last thing we need is hordes of foreign parasites to suck us dry of blood. Get back to me when you can prove that. But even if you do it won't mean we should tolerate illegal immigrants.

According to the latest WSJ/NBC News poll, 61% of Republican voters say they're very interested in voting on Nov. 6, when Republicans will be looking to stop the Dems from retaking control of the House. To put that number in context, the poll showed that 65% of Democrats said they're very interested in the vote. Over the first eight months of 2018, Democrats boasted an aggregate 12-point advantage over the Republicans on this metric - an advantage that has shrunk considerably. Less than three months after Trump's latest tweet slamming OPEC, in which he warned the petroleum cartel that it must "REDUCE PRICING NOW!", Trump was at it again and on Thursday morning, with Brent hitting $80 per barrel and higher gasoline prices creating another headache for Republicans ahead of the midterm elections, the president lashed out at OPEC, saying that the US protects the countries of the Middle East, and warning these nations that "they would not be safe for very long without us, and yet they continue to push for higher and higher oil prices! We will remember." Trump's latest threat, however, was summarily ignored on Sunday when OPEC leader Saudi Arabia and its biggest non-OPEC oil-producer ally, Russia, ruled out additional increase in crude output, defying Trump’s calls for action to cool the market. "I do not influence prices," said the Saudi Energy Minister Khalid al-Falih during a press conference in Algiers for a meeting that ended with no formal recommendation for any additional supply boost, Reuters reports. In recent weeks, oil prices have moved back to 4 year highs, a rally that according to analysts has been mostly due to a perceived decline in oil exports from Iran due to fresh U.S. sanctions, stemming from Trump's decision to pull out of the Iran Nuclear deal. As a result, as much as 1.5 million barrels of output are in danger of being taken off the market. And while Falih said Saudi Arabia had spare capacity to increase oil output, he said that no such move was needed at the moment. Instead, Falih blamed refiners for not converting enough product: "My information is that the markets are adequately supplied. I don’t know of any refiner in the world who is looking for oil and is not able to get it" he said. Still, indicating that Saudi Arabia was quite ready to steal even more market share from Iran, Falih said that Saudi Arabia was ready to increase supply if Iran’s output fell: “Whatever takes place between now and the end of the year in terms of supply changes will be addressed.” Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak echoed the comments, saying that no immediate output increase was necessary, although he believed a trade war between China and the United States as well as U.S. sanctions on Iran were creating new challenges for oil markets. Separately, Oman’s Oil Minister Mohammed bin Hamad Al-Rumhy and Kuwaiti counterpart Bakhit al-Rashidi told reporters that producers had agreed they needed to focus on reaching 100% compliance with production cuts agreed in June, which means offsetting and compensating for falling Iranian production. However, Al-Rumhy said the exact mechanism for doing so had not been discussed.

The Trump administration has proposed a new rule denying visas and green cards to legal immigrants who are likely to claim government benefits such as food stamps or housing vouchers. The move could force millions of low-income immigrants to choose between vital support and their hopes of US residency, advocacy groups have warned. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced on Saturday the planned change would allow officials to disqualify immigrantsí applications based on receipt of federal assistance such as food stamps, Section 8 housing vouchers or Medicare and Medicaid drug subsidies. Such benefits would be considered ďa heavily weighed negative factorĒ in granting green cards for permanent residency or in issuing visas for temporary stays. Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen said the proposed rule would ďpromote immigrant self-sufficiency and protect finite resources by ensuring that they are not likely to become burdens on American taxpayers.Ē According to a report in The New York Times, Donald Trumpís top immigration adviser Stephen Miller has pushed ďhardĒ for the new rule over the past few months. The DHS plan marks a sharp departure from current guidelines, in place since 1999, which specifically prevent authorities from considering benefits in deciding a personís eligibility to immigrate to the US or stay in the country. The new rule would apply to those seeking visas or legal permanent residency, but it would not affect people anyone applying for US citizenship.

Mexican president-elect Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador said he does not want to fight with US President Donald Trump on immigration.Trump's hardline approach on the subject has ramped up tensions and riled Mexicans, who he previously claimed would pay for the construction of a wall between the two countries. But the leftist Lopez Obrador told reporters in the border state of Sonora on Saturday that angry exchanges were not the answer. "We are not going to fight with the US government, we are not going to fight with President Donald Trump," he said. "The migration problem is not resolved by building walls or by use of force, but it's a diplomatic job of respect," added Lopez Obrador, who takes office on December 1. There seems to be a bit of a disconnect between Nikeís branding and the sporting good giantís political leanings. While Nike has caught heat from right-leaning supporters for its decision to feature Colin Kaepernick in the companyís latest ad campaign, a new report from the Center for Responsive Politics ó a non-profit, non-partisan research group focusing on money in politics ó shows that Nike employees and its political action committee have donated more than three times as much money to republican candidates as democratic challengers for the 2018 election season. In all, Nike has given $424,000 to the GOP compared to $122,000 to Democrats. The findings follow a recent trend showing Nike has donated more to Republicans than Democrats in every election cycle since 2010 with the exception of 2016. According to the report, nearly half of all donated funds from Nike employees has come from co-founder Phil Knight and his family. The Knight family has also given $1.5 million to republican Knute Buehler in his race for Oregon governor against incumbent democrat Kate Brown. The contribution is the largest individual donation to an Oregon candidate since the state started electronically tracking such dealings in 2006. Nike World Headquarters are located Beaverton, Oregon. Among Buehlerís platforms are lower corporate taxes and repealing Oregonís sanctuary state laws for undocumented immigrants. Compared to its rival companies, Nike has donated far more to politicians than itís competitors. Both Nike and New Balance have each given more than $1.2 million to Republican candidates since 2010, however Nike has also donated more than $900,000 to Democrats over that same time span. By comparison, Adidas and Under Armour have donated less than $600,000 combined to both parties since 2010.

China's Catholic Church reaffirmed its loyalty to the country's ruling Communist Party on Sunday, while welcoming a landmark deal struck with the Vatican on appointing new bishops. The Vatican on Saturday signed an agreement giving it a long-desired and decisive say in the appointment of bishops in China, though critics labeled it a sellout to the government. China's around 12 million Catholics have been split between an underground Church swearing loyalty to the Vatican and the state-supervised Catholic Patriotic Association. The Catholic Church in China said it would "persevere to walk a path suited to a socialist society, under the leadership of the Chinese Communist Party." It "deeply loved the motherland" and "sincerely endorsed" the agreement, hoping relations between China and the Vatican would improve further, it added in comments on its website. The Vatican has said the accord, a breakthrough after years of negotiations, was "not political but pastoral", and hoped it would lead to "the full communion of all Chinese Catholics." If they lower their prices and/or their currency to compensate and keep the market share then they are paying the tariffs, if they don't then they lose all of the money and are incentivized to make a fair deal to end the tariffs.

It is as useful to have controlled opposition on the world stage as well as the domestic one, if Iran isn't controlled opposition why did they help with Iran-Contra? If they aren't controlled opposition why didn't we invade them instead of Iraq? Why did they cooperate with Bush/Reagan and keep the hostages long enough to make Carter look bad for the election? Everything about Iran suggests that they are are controlled opposition but even if they are not currently there is no reason they couldn't have been at first just as the Shaw was originally, they could have achieved what the Shaw failed to do and become independent after starting out as controlled opposition.

The Saudis and the Russians have said they intend to increase production in spite of Iranian objections, if they do we may see the end of OPEC now, if that happens Iraq and any other members who can will rush to increase their production. On the other hand your post about the Saudis saying they are running low one one grade of crude may indicate that they are actually running out of oil and not only won't be able to increase production but may be forced to reduce it, if that is the case the end of Saudi Barbaria may happen soon. Interesting times.

A media adviser helping the Republican-led Senate Judiciary Committee respond to a sexual assault allegation against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh has resigned amid allegations of his own sexual misconduct, a committee spokesperson said on Saturday.Garrett Ventry, 29, a communications aide to Senate Judiciary committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, was "one of several temporary staff brought on to assist in the committeeís consideration of the Supreme Court nomination," a Senate Judiciary Committee spokesperson told Reuters. "While he strongly denies allegations of wrongdoing, he decided to resign to avoid causing any distraction from the work of the committee," the spokesperson said. Ventry was previously fired from the office of North Carolina House Majority Leader John Bell because a female employee of the North Carolina GOP General Assembly accused him of sexual harassment, according to NBC. In a statement to NBC, Ventry denied any wrongdoing. After a brief call late Saturday, the lawyers and aides to Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, chairman of the Judiciary Committee, planned to talk again Sunday morning to continue negotiations over the conditions of the testimony, according to three people familiar with the call. Negotiations could still falter over the details, which include who will question the woman, Christine Blasey Ford. But in tentatively agreeing to a Thursday hearing, Republicans made a significant concession that suggested they were working to ensure that the session occurred after several days of uncertainty. If no final deal is made, Grassley will be left to decide whether to move ahead with a committee vote on Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court nomination scheduled for Monday. Kavanaugh, who has vigorously denied the allegations, has repeatedly expressed his desire to testify. The move by Ford, 51, a research psychologist in Palo Alto, came after an extended back-and-forth between her lawyers and top Judiciary Committee aides. Grassley had set 2:30 p.m. Saturday as a final deadline for Ford to agree or decline to appear. The tentative deal came as White House officials and Republicans on Capitol Hill were growing increasingly frustrated at what they said was a ploy to delay Monday’s vote. Republicans had been pressing for Ford, if she were to agree to testify, to do so Wednesday.
