The potential for supply chain disruption as a result of China dealing with the Coronavirus, and almost a complete shutdown of their manufacturing economy, is looming heavy upon Wall Street multinationals invested in China. However, tangentially related, as a result of USMCA we are now seeing signs of shifted investment into North America and increases in forecasts for U.S. manufacturing. (Via CNBC) Early in the week, New York’s Empire State Manufacturing Survey for general business conditions posted a reading of 12.9, up 8 points from January and its best level since May. New orders surged to 22.1, the highest since September 2017, and shipments rose to 18.9, the best since November 2018. On Thursday, the Philadelphia survey exploded 20 points higher to 36.7, the highest since February 2017. New orders hit their highest since May 2018. (more) The Philadelphia FED tracks factory orders in eastern Pennsylvania, Southern New Jersey, and Delaware. New orders in that region soared far higher than all expectations, reflecting a strong consumer-driven economy with ongoing purchases of durable goods. President Trump’s focus on ‘America First’ incentives has lowered overall energy costs, decreased the cost of doing business, cut regulatory hurdles and completely reset the total cost of production. The U.S. is now competitive, and without transportation costs the total cost of durable good manufacturing in the U.S. is now the best bet. Secure jobs, higher wages, low taxes and consumer confidence creates a domestic cycle of economic growth inside the U.S. A big jump in building permits and housing starts is an example of that strength.

There was a palpable sense of disappointment last night when instead of cutting its benchmark overnight interest rates as some - notably Goldman Sachs - had speculated might happen, the PBOC announced that it would only lower its benchmark 1- and 5-year lending rates, i.e., Loan Prime Rate, by 10bps to 4.05% and 5bps to 4.75% respectively, a move that was widely anticipated. The underwhelming rate cuts left analysts asking for more as consensus emerged that piecemeal lending rate cuts can only help the Chinese economy so much, especially if China is indeed set to unleash fiscal austerity as local Chinese media reported over the weekend: “The ten basis point reduction will help companies weather the damage from the coronavirus at the margins,” Julian Evans-Pritchard, senior China economist at consultancy Capital Economics, wrote in a note after PBOC published its latest loan prime rates. “But even if the ... cut is passed on to all borrowers, that would only decrease average one-year bank lending rates from 5.44% to 5.34%. The ability of firms to postpone loan repayments and access loans on preferential terms will matter more in the near-term." However the market's bitter taste from the underwhelming rate cut was quickly reversed after the PBOC reported its latest monthly credit data, which was a whopper, blowing out market expectations: total social financing, the broadest credit aggregate, soared by over 5 trillion yuan, the biggest one month injection on record, surprising the market to the upside mainly on higher government bond issuance. According to Goldman, "this mainly reflected the economic conditions and policy stance as the economic impacts from the virus were still rising." Here is the summary from the January credit stats: Total social financing: RMB 5070BN in January, vs. consensus: RMB 4200bn.

In a breaking major development in the battle for Idlib, Turkey has reportedly asked the United States for its Patriot missile defense system "to deter" the Russian and Syrian Army offensive in Idlib, reports Bloomberg citing an official in Ankara. This would constitute a significant flip-flop and irony, and could prove deeply embarrassing for Erdogan, given it was long the firm stance of Washington that it would not provide Patriots if Turkey went forward with procuring Russia's S-400s, which began transfer to Turkey last year. A senior Turkish official in Ankara was reported as saying Turkey asked the US. to deploy two Patriot missile-defense batteries on its southern border to defend against Russian air power. Reports Bloomberg: Turkey is yet to receive a U.S. response to the request, which was relayed last week to James Jeffrey, the U.S. envoy for Syria engagement, the official said, asking not to be identified discussing sensitive information. The U.S. Embassy in Turkey declined to comment. This means Erdogan may have flipped on Putin as well — certainly such a request could mark a major turn back to the US, Turkey's powerful NATO ally.

LOL The Constitution specifically allows new states to be formed with the consent of the legislature of the original state. It doesn't say a word about moving territory from one state to another and its already been done before. All it takes is the will to use civil disobedience against the state government or successfully getting large enough majorities in Congress.

We have had this conversation before. I'm done for now, I see no reason to keep debating someone who ignores the plain words of the Constitution and seeks to empower state and local governments to violate the basic human rights of the individual. Justice Thomas proved that the 14thA incorporates the BoR including the 1stA which was excepted originally anyway.

Trump is not a dictator, he can't do everything all by himself overnight. Trump has done more against abortion than any POTUS since Roe v. Wade and he has cut funding to PP. He is doing far more good than bad but people like you refuse to see it because you demand instant perfection.

The rural areas of any state that is totally overrun should look to join an adjoining conservative state. This can work, civil disobedience can force the state legislature to agree and the Constitution doesn't actually require the consent of the state legislature unless a NEW state is formed. Some parts of West Virginia were returned to Virginia after the civil war without the consent of the West Virginia legislature by an act of Congress, if we take back the House we can go that route.

Trump IS a sinner, not all sinners are evil, Trump is not evil, there is more good to him than bad. Trump is moving us towards limited government, protection of private property and the preservation of life. Scribes and pharisees are willfully blind.

He is getting us out of Afghanistan and he was and will get us out of other places. You demand perfection and you demand it all overnight, the world doesn't work that way, Trump's supposed official powers do not overcome the power of the swamp that has been building for generations, they can get rid of him several ways unless he plays them against eachother and to do that he must make deals with some of them

You are confusing policies with people, we do not agree with all of Trump's policies anymore than Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego agreed with Nebuchadnezzar's decree that everyone should worship his golden statue or than Abraham agreed with the Kings of Sodom and Gomorrah on qweers. Trump IS NOT the lesser evil, he is a minimal good and we can and must work with him against the evil just as Daniel worked with Nebuchadnezzar. You keep talking about lesser evils because that is your only argument even though I repeatedly have said Trump is not a lesser evil and I don't support lesser evils. I'll keep working with Republicans and sinners and let the libertarian scribes and pharisees sit around feeling holier than me while getting nothing done.

Because he cared more about those. What's illogical is to think that the 1stA bothers to say that it only applies to Congress while the others don't but that none of them apply to the states. You guys don't debate that point because you can't. That's nonsense, Article 6 states that the entire Constitution applies to the states whether the Constitution specifies that it does or not, the BoR is part of the Constitution and only the 1stA bothers to specify that it only applies to Congress. And precedent is secondary to the law and the Constitution, it can't make them null and void.

Former Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid on Wednesday said it was possible the crowded Democratic primary race was headed toward a contentious convention fight and downplayed the political dangers of a scenario many party leaders are dreading.“I don’t think we’ll have one, but we could have one,” Reid told The Associated Press in an interview days before the Democratic caucuses in his home state of Nevada. “We’ve had brokered conventions before, and we’ve always come up with good candidates. It’s not the end of the world. It just slows the process down.” More at: https://www.usnews.com/news/politics/articles/2020-02-19/harry-reid-brokered-convention-not-the-end-of-the-world

Trump is shredding regulations. And he is finding creative ways to add regulations that actually undo regulations to get around the red tape about regulations, like creating a new category of "fast dishwasher" that is exempt from the water regulations. He is also cutting off the money to the UN and other globalist institutions.
