"This is a tremendously successful blow for the government," said Raul Benitez, a security expert at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). Yepez, boss of the Santa Rosa de Lima cartel, a Guanajuato-based gang, has been engaged in a bloody struggle for criminal control of the state with the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), one of the country's most powerful and violent groups. The Guanajuato attorney general's office said security forces captured Yepez with five other people and rescued a kidnapped local businesswoman during the operation. An "arsenal" of weapons was also secured during the raid. Security Minister Alfonso Durazo said Yepez would be taken to the Altiplano penitentiary, a maximum-security prison where drug lord Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman was housed before he escaped through a tunnel in 2015. Guzman was recaptured in 2016. A hub of the carmaking industry, Guanajuato was once one of the safer regions of Mexico, but the violence of the past few years has pushed national homicide tallies to record levels. Writing on Twitter, Durazo said Yepez had been arrested for suspected organized crime and fuel theft. More at: https://news.yahoo.com/mexican-army-arrests-drug-lord-153102762.html

From libertyauthors.com, please check this out and see how you like it. 🙂 A self-published historical novel called Dawn of Betrayal Post by MaxGrant » Sat Aug 01, 2020 9:38 pm What do you call it when a core of immigrants, mostly Russian and Eastern European ne’er-do-wells, infiltrate our country during the migrant boom years following WW I and seek to transform it into the type of socialist totalitarian hell-hole they left ? What do you call it when home-grown Americans over succeeding generations embrace and promote this anti-human ideology? Some rightly call it Subversion, Sedition or Treason, but I call it Betrayal. Betrayal of their countrymen, indeed all of humanity. Seeds sown in the ‘20s and ‘30s blossomed into sleeper cells, spy rings, bought poltroons, termite-ridden bureaucracies, legions of useful idiots, subversion on behalf of Red China, and actual ascendance to power: the travesty of the Clinton co-presidency, the Bush deceptions, and, most damaging, the recent Obamanation. Ronald Reagan was right when he stated that the USA is the last best hope for freedom on Earth, and for that primarily it has been under constant and increasing effective attack by enemies foreign and domestic. Dawn of Betrayal, a short work of historical fiction, is a look back – and forward – at the origins and effects of the Communist conspiracy in America. A synopsis can be found at the web page: https://dawnofbetrayal.wordpress.com/ My author’s page also features a very short story based on personal observations of human trafficking, “Justice by Moonlight,” which can be found here: https://sites.google.com/site/theauthormaxgrant/home Also found there are three brief paragraphs regarding some obscure pre-Cold War items that I learned of during my research for the novel.

The judge presiding over the Ghislaine Maxwell case has banned her lawyers from publicly naming abuse victims involved in the lawsuit. US District Judge Alison J Nathan ruled that Ms Maxwell’s attorneys cannot reveal the names of the individuals accusing her of sexual crimes in the course of her work for infamous pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. “Not all accusations or public statements are equal,” Ms Nathan wrote in her ruling. The judge ruled that the victim’s contribution to the lawsuit is not the same as a public statement, and that the victims “still maintain a significant privacy interest that must be safeguarded.” “Deciding to participate in or contribute to a criminal investigation or prosecution is a far different matter than simply making a public statement ‘relating to’ Ms Maxwell or Jeffrey Epstein, particularly since such a statement might have occurred decades ago and have no relevance to the charges in this case,” she wrote.

The probable cause statement against the McCloskeys written by St Louis Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner's underling was dripping with bias and filled with so many ridiculous falsehoods that the lead police detective investigating the case reportedly refused to sign at least two different versions. The Czech Republic continues to be at the forefront of the battle for gun rights in Europe. On July 13, the Czech government announced that it endorsed a plan to enshrine the right of individuals to use a firearm to defend themselves and others in the central European nation’s constitution. The move comes three years after another pro-gun constitutional amendment passed the Czech Chamber of Deputies (the lower house of the Czech Parliament) but failed to receive final approval. Last September, 35 members of the Czech Senate introduced legislation to amend the Czech Constitution’s Charter of Fundamental Rights and Freedoms. The proposal would alter the charter to include language that roughly translates to the following, “The right to defend one's life or another's life and weapons is guaranteed under the conditions laid down by law.” In a document explaining the forwarded change, the senators noted, “The current proposal… strengthens the fundamental rights of individuals. The proposal itself introduces a constitutional enshrinement of the right to defense with arms.” The item goes on to explain, “Given the importance of the right to life, which is the most basic right, because without life other human rights cannot be fulfilled, the proposal considers it appropriate to symbolically elevate this right to the constitutional level.” According to European news source Euractiv, the Senate proposal came about in part due to a grassroots gun rights effort akin to those that have made Second Amendment supporters such a political force in the U.S. Pro-gun activists had presented senators with a petition containing more than 100,000 signatures in support of greater protection for gun rights. According to a report from the Czech News Agency (CTK), the Czech government was expected to remain neutral on the self-defense amendment, but changed its position after “an intense debate.” The proposal earned the support of Czech Defence Minister Lubomír Metnar, who cited “security developments” as a reason to back the measure.

By next year, Donald Trump will have reduced legal immigration by 49% since becoming president. The cuts to legal immigration have come in several categories, and it appears the Trump administration is not finished restricting immigration. The National Foundation for American Policy projects that the number of legal immigrants will decline by 49% (or 581,845) between FY 2016 and FY 2021 due to Trump administration policies. (From the FY 2016 total of 1,183,505 down to 601,660 in FY 2021.) How did the Trump administration reduce legal immigration by 49% without changing U.S. immigration law? The answer is by using executive and administrative authorities, some of which are being challenged in court. Below is a review of the impact of administration policies on legal immigration categories since Donald Trump became president. Immediate Relatives of U.S. Citizens: The Immediate Relatives of U.S. Citizens category is projected to decline by over 50% between FY 2016 and FY 2021, meaning about 300,000 more spouses, children and parents of U.S. citizens would have been reunited in FY 2021 absent Trump administration policies.

The Trump administration is hiking the fees for a range of immigration benefits, including an 83% increase for petitions from green card holders seeking to become U.S. citizens and the first ever charge for asylum requests. Set to be published in the federal government's journal of regulations on Monday, the new U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) fees will take effect on October 2. Roughly 97% of USCIS' budget is funded by application fees, unlike most other federal agencies, whose funds are appropriated by Congress. The final rule includes a more than $500 increase in the fee for the form filed by immigrants to obtain U.S. citizenship — which among other benefits, allows them to vote. Fees for other forms, including for family members of victims of crimes who assisted law enforcement and for those seeking genealogy records, will also go up. Some fee exceptions and waivers will be eliminated through the rule, which will also make the U.S. one of only a few countries in the world to charge a fee to apply for asylum, a humanitarian protection for those fleeing persecution based on race, political opinion, religion, nationality or membership in a "particular social group." By imposing a $50 charge for asylum petitions, the U.S. joins Fiji, Iran and Australia as the only countries requiring immigrants to pay a fee to seek legal refuge. Applications for works permits, including for asylum-seekers, will also go up by 34%.

United Airlines is now planning for even deeper furloughs of pilots following the latest weakening of air travel demand due to the coronavirus, a company official said Thursday. The big US carrier currently is planning for 3,900 pilots to be furloughed, up from 2,250 expected in early July before the latest spike in US coronavirus cases that has led to another deterioration in customer interest. "Because COVID-19 cases continue, and demand improvement remains very slow, we may need to furlough more pilots in 2020, and in 2021, than originally planned," Bryan Quigley, senior vice president for flight operations, said in a memo to staff. Quigley said total revenues for the airline are down about 85 percent. The company expects to end the third quarter with a daily cash burn of $25 million per day. "This is simply not sustainable for us," Quigley said.

The U.S. government announced Friday that four huge dams on the Snake River in Washington state will not be removed to help endangered salmon migrate to the ocean. The decision thwarts the desires of environmental groups that fought for two decades to breach the structures. The Final Environmental Impact Statement was issued by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Bureau of Reclamation and Bonneville Power Administration, and sought to balance the needs of salmon and other interests. The plan calls for spilling more water over the dams at strategic times to help fish migrate faster to and from the ocean, a tactic that has already been in use. Three Republican members of Congress from Washington state hailed the decision.
