It's absolutely laughable to think that they are following ANY rules as part of the witch hunt. The law and the precedent is on Trump's side, if he has private reasons for the payments made with his own money then it doesn't matter if they might also affect the campaign.

FBI had no legal right to interview Flynn: Gregg Jarrett

On Tuesday, attorneys for Michael Flynn filed a sentencing memorandum and letters of support for the former Army lieutenant general in federal court. The sentencing memorandum reveals for the first time concrete evidence that the FBI created multiple 302 interview summaries of Flynn’s questioning by now-former FBI agent Peter Strzok and a second unnamed agent, reported to be FBI Special Agent Joe Pientka. Further revelations may be forthcoming soon following an order entered late yesterday by presiding judge Emmet Sullivan, directing the special counsel’s office to file with the court any 302s or memorandum relevant to Flynn’s interview. While Flynn’s sentencing memorandum methodically laid out the case for a low-level sentence of one-year probation, footnote 23 dropped a bomb, revealing that the agents’ 302 summary of his interview was dated August 22, 2017. As others have already noted, the August 22, 2017 date is a “striking detail” because that puts the 302 report “nearly seven months after the Flynn interview.” When added to facts already known, this revelation takes on a much greater significance. First, text messages between Strzok and former FBI Attorney Lisa Page indicate that Strzok wrote his notes from the Flynn interview shortly after he questioned the national security advisor on January 24, 2017. Specifically, on February 14, 2017, Strzok texted Page, “Also, is Andy good with F 302?” Page responded, “Launch on f 302.” Given Strzok’s role in the questioning Flynn, the date (three weeks from the interview), the notation “F 302,” and Page’s position as special counsel to Andrew McCabe, it seems extremely likely that these text exchanges concerned a February 2017, 302 summary of the Flynn interview. Additionally, now that we know from the sentencing memorandum that the special counsel’s office has tendered a 302 interview summary dated August 22, 2017, we can deduce that an earlier 302 form existed from James Comey’s Friday testimony before the House judiciary and oversight committees. During the day-long questioning of the former FBI Director, Rep. Trey Gowdy asked Comey whether the agents who interviewed Flynn had indicated that Flynn did not intend to deceive them during the interview. After Comey replied “No,” Gowdy pushed him, asking “Have you ever testified differently?” Comey again responded, “No.”

If you want to do something about it go ahead, if you want to hire someone to do something about it use your own money. It's news because if our relationship with Pakistan decays far enough we may be forced to leave Afghanistan and that would be a good thing, it is also news because it demonstrates that we don't want too many immigrants from Pakistan.

The "Civil War" but that was a case of "rebellion" not lack of a Republican form of government. True, but I doubt that we can get Congress to pass a ban on ballot harvesting with the Demoncrats in control of the House, we also need federal investigations into all other forms of election fraud that result in prosecutions. And in any case Congress doesn't have legislative authority over state and local elections but if they are corrupted sufficiently the Republican form of government clause could be applied.

A federal judge rejected a lawsuit Thursday by a Republican incumbent from Maine who lost the nation's first congressional election held under a candidate-ranking system.Republican U.S. Rep. Bruce Poliquin sought to have the voting system declared unconstitutional after he lost the election to Democrat Jared Golden despite having the most first-place votes. Poliquin asked U.S. District Judge Lance Walker either to declare him the winner or order another election for the 2nd Congressional District. But Walker, appointed by Republican President Donald Trump, said states are given great leeway in how they conduct elections. Critics can question the wisdom of ranked-choice voting, Walker said, but such criticism "falls short of constitutional impropriety." There was no immediate word from Poliquin on whether he planned to appeal. A recount that Poliquin requested, meanwhile, will continue for a few more weeks. Golden and supporters of ranked voting said after the ruling that they felt vindicated by Walker's decision. Golden said that Walker's "decision is clear" and that he hopes Poliquin works with him to ensure a smooth transition for the congressional district. James Monteleone, an attorney for the Committee for Ranked Choice Voting, said he believes Walker's ruling "will stand up to any appeal." Poliquin, however, said he remained concerned about some Maine voters expressing confusion with the voting system. He defended Maine's old system as a "common sense, one-person, one-vote process." In his ruling, Walker rejected Poliquin's arguments that ranked balloting gives some voters more expression than others or proves too confusing for the average voter.

The head of the U.N. agency focusing on AIDS said he would leave the job six months early, bowing to apparent pressure just a week after independent experts looking into sexual harassment blasted the "defective leadership" at UNAIDS. At least one major donor reportedly threatened to halt its funding.Executive Director Michel Sidibe revealed his plans to leave in June at a UNAIDS board meeting Thursday, agency spokesman Mahesh Mahalingham said. Sidibe took up the job in 2009. Sexual harassment allegations at UNAIDS have been an unwelcome distraction for the agency, which has helped get millions of people infected with HIV on antiretroviral therapy. It spearheads U.N. efforts to end the AIDS epidemic as a public health threat by 2030 — a key United Nations goal. Media reports suggested Sweden, the agency's No. 2 donor last year, was preparing to stop funding the agency over the crisis. Sweden provided $30.8 million to UNAIDS in 2017, second only to $82.4 million from the United States. "We do not trust him. He must leave now. We are freezing our support until he is gone," Swedish International Development Cooperation Minister Isabella Lovin told the Svenska Dagbladet newspaper. Outside experts released a report last week saying a culture of impunity and a toxic working environment at UNAIDS cannot be changed unless Sidibe resigned. It cited a "vacuum of accountability" and said agency leaders failed to prevent or adequately respond to allegations of sexual harassment, bullying and abuse of power. According to Patreon, creators like Laura Loomer, Sargon of Akkad, Milo Yiannopoulos, and the Proud Boys violate their terms of service. But on the other side of the coin, Antifa creators that plot violent insurrection against the United States are A-Ok. Research from watchdog group Far Left Watch shows that groups who openly call for violence, in violation of the site’s Community Guidelines, are not being removed if they are on the left-wing of the political spectrum. The two most glaring cases come from two far-left podcasts, titled “Revolutionary Left Radio” and “The Guillotine Podcast.” Both podcasts support political violence in pursuit of a communist revolution. Revolutionary Left Radio has over 700 monthly donors giving between $1 and $100 each. The shows host, Brett Anderson, who goes by the moniker “Breht Oshea” has a criminal record stemming from a clash with police during a pro-Trump rally in 2017. He is also an advocate of armed confrontation against those who he has ideological disagreements with. I like my working class like I like my antifascism: armed and militant.

No, it didn't, campaign related means that its purpose is to help him get elected, the purpose was to protect his brand and his familial relations during a time when they would be most likely to be damaged.

The damage to China’s economy from the trade war with the U.S. can’t be immediately made good even in the case of a resolution with President Donald Trump, Citigroup economists say. That’s because the tariff war is underlining China’s rising cost of labor at a time when the job market is under pressure, Citi economists led by Liu Li-Gang said in their 2019 economic outlook report. The trade war with the U.S. could cut China’s export growth by almost half next year, putting around 4.4 million jobs at risk, the economists wrote. “It is a reality that China is losing some of its cost competitiveness, especially in labor-intensive and low-value-added sectors,” according to the report. “Although shifting the supply chains is not feasible in real time, manufacturers may seriously weigh the option of leaving China if punitive tariffs last longer than expected." Even amid signs of a detente between Beijing and Washington, Citi’s baseline scenario is still that the 15 percent additional tariff will be levied on Chinese exports after March 1, as 90 days may be insufficient to resolve "large differences" between the two countries on issues of IP protection, forced technology transfer, state support to state-owned enterprises, and cyber intrusion and theft. The economists expect the trade war will cut China’s export growth by almost half to 5.1 percent in 2019. The 25 percent tariffs on US $250 billion worth of imports from China would reduce China’s exports by 5.6 percentage points, denting GDP growth by 1.04 percentage points.

Pakistan on Wednesday condemned a U.S. decision to add it to a list of nations that infringe on religious freedom, calling the move "unilateral and politically motivated."Secretary of State Mike Pompeo added Pakistan to the U.S. list of "countries of particular concern" regarding protection for people to worship according to their beliefs. It was previously on a special watch list. The downgrade would expose Pakistan to potential American sanctions, but Pompeo waived those penalties, citing U.S. national interests. The Foreign Ministry condemned the move, saying Pakistan is a "multi-religious and pluralistic society where people of diverse faiths and denominations live together." In recent years Islamic extremists have repeatedly attacked religious minorities in Pakistan, including Shiite Muslims and Christians. Members of the Ahmadi sect face heavy discrimination and are subject to restrictions stemming from a 1984 law that forbids them from "posing as Muslims." The U.S. said the decision to downgrade Pakistan was largely the result of a law that prescribes death for blasphemy against Islam. The mere rumor of insulting Islam can spark lynchings in Pakistan. As a resolution to a rebellion, that is just a possibility and it would take place with the consent of the legislature of the state. The post you replied to was about the invocation of the Republican form of government clause in the first place not about the possible result.

Kosovo will vote Friday on whether to create its own army, in a heavily symbolic show of independence from Serbia that has inflamed tensions between the former wartime foes.Since breaking away from Belgrade in a guerilla war in the late 1990s, Kosovo has relied on NATO-led forces to guarantee its security. But at the end of the week -- dubbed "Army week" by one Kosovo newspaper -- Pristina lawmakers will vote on legislation to transform its own lightly-armed emergency response force, known as Kosovo Security Force (KSF), into a professional army. The measure is widely expected to pass as it draws support from all political parties in ethnic Albanian-majority Kosovo, except for a minority of ethnic Serb MPs who have boycotted the sessions. But there is outrage in Belgrade, which refuses to accept the former southern province's independence and has cast the army plans as a threat to the 120,000 Serbs still living in Kosovo. Last week Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said she "hoped" Serbia would not need to use its army against Kosovo, though it is "one of the options on the table." NATO, which has four members who don't recognise Kosovo, has condemned the army move as "ill-timed." But Pristina's core ally Washington has given the green light, calling it a "positive step". The commander of the current 2,500-strong KSF, which is trained for crisis response operations, said this week that the new army will be equipped with US weapons and vehicles.
