Nicolas Talbott, a graduate student at Kent State University in Ohio who is transgender, was told in May that because of President Donald Trump’s transgender ban in the military, he would no longer be eligible for placement as an Army officer. He could continue participating in the Reserve Officers' Training Corps program, but the benefits that he joined for — health insurance and student loan forgiveness — were no longer available to him.“Everyone else would walk away with a job in the United States Army, and I would walk away with just more student loan debt,” Talbott said. Talbott’s experience is just one version of a broader story unfolding across vast portions of the federal government as the Trump administration has rolled back a wide array of protections for transgender people, many of them put in place during the Obama administration. The Obama White House used its powers to declare that legal and legislative efforts to defend against sex discrimination should apply to gender identity. The Trump White House called that executive overreach — and reversed course wherever it could. Across the country, transgender people and groups that are advocates for them have wrestled with the effect of that shift as they have learned of policy changes from the departments of Education and Labor to the departments of Health and Human Services and Housing and Urban Development, from the Pentagon to the Justice Department to the Office of Personnel Management. Last month, a federal district judge struck down a Health and Human Services Department rule that would, among other changes, expand the protections for health care workers who refuse to treat transgender patients if it clashed with their beliefs, the third judge to do so. But so many similar regulations are in place or pending that advocates for transgender rights are hardly relieved. “We’ve been a priority for this administration since the day they got in the door,” said Gillian Branstetter, a former spokeswoman for the National Center for Transgender Equality, who is transgender. The Education Department has rescinded Obama-era rules that allowed transgender students to use bathrooms of their choice or participate in sports corresponding with their gender identity. The Defense Department has established restrictions on transgender troops that largely prohibit them from transitioning while in uniform. Transgender people who came out before the policy, which went into effect in April, may continue to serve, but that will depend on how four lawsuits play out.

Four people were killed and two injured in a shooting on Saturday near Mexico's National Palace, the presidential residence in the capital's historic downtown, officials said.President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador was traveling outside of Mexico City on Saturday. Preliminary reports indicated an armed man entered a building on a small street near the palace looking to relieve himself, Mexico City police said. After two people in the building reproached him, the man withdrew a pistol and opened fire. When police arrived, they found four people with gunshot wounds lying in the building's courtyard, and shot at the gunman. Paramedics found the gunman dead, along with two other people, the police said. One of three people who sustained injuries died en route to the hospital. More than 100 police officers rapidly arrived and cordoned off the street, according to television images. The building sits in a narrow, pedestrian-only street that opens onto an entrance of the National Palace used daily by government staff and reporters. Vibrant rows of neatly lined plants grow on a patch once trampled by the cattle of a large commercial farm run by a family of German descent in Namibia. From that 2,400 square-metre rectangle of sand in the northern Otjozondjupa region, Kornelius Hamasab, 69, now produces spinach, onions and tomatoes. Hamasab is among the 16 percent of black Namibians owning arable land in the semi-desertic southwest African nation. White Namibians, who are descended from former colonisers Germany and South Africa and make up six percent of the population, own 70 percent of the land. "It doesn't seem right to me," said Hamasab, who acquired his land as compensation five years after the farm downsized into a guesthouse in 2000 and laid off its staff. "The government should do something about it," he added, while his family picked and rinsed collared greens to be sold in the capital Windhoek, 150 kilometres (90 miles) away. Namibia adopted a "willing-buyer, willing-seller" approach to land reform after independence from South Africa in 1990. Farmers wishing to sell their business must first offer it to the state, which parcels it into smaller plots and redistributes to "previously disadvantaged Namibians". That strategy has done little to redress the imbalance, however, prompting President Hage Geingob to call for a more muscular approach. "The willing-buyer, willing-seller principle has not delivered results," Geingob told a land conference last year, adding that the "status-quo should not be allowed to continue". Geingob has since demanded constitutional amendments to allow for the forceful expropriation of white-owned commercial farms with "fair compensation".

I suggest you look at all the desecrated and destroyed churches and all the other devastation being caused by the invaders; then tell me it's worth risking another war. War and conquest can't be prevented now thanks to the EU and the invasion. It's not the fault of those who will fight to preserve what can be preserved.

No, I haven't been there. But it is the people who let in the hostile foreigners who are risking it so causally, if I had my way it would never have been at risk from the hostile foreigners or the EU.

The story of the $120,000 (eaten) banana just won't end, and tonight it took another, even more surreal turn. The now-iconic white wall that as recently as Saturday held a duct-taped banana - arguably the world's most expensive - at Art Basel Miami Beach was "vandalized" on Sunday afternoon, forcing exhibitors to cover up the writing in red lipstick with a white cardboard. The banana, which attracted hundreds after it sold to an art collector for $120,000, was replaced with the phrase “Epstien (sic) didn’t kill himself,” written with red lipstick. There's always money in the banana stand.https://t.co/Up3lydwv98 pic.twitter.com/ZrIXPGYew5 — Rudy Havenstein, Just the right amount of malarkey (@RudyHavenstein) December 9, 2019 According to the Miami Herald, the surreal scene confused those who were present in the gallery, most who assumed it was just another "art" performance: "This is the gallery where anyone can do art, right?” the man is heard saying in a video provided to the Miami Herald when a security guard confronted him. This guy decided to write on the banana wall LOL *♀️ #ArtBasel @OfficialJoelF pic.twitter.com/jjWDyugNuv — sacha-stephanie (@sachasteph_) December 8, 2019 Sacha Medici, 24, was strolling inside the Miami Beach Convention Center, hoping to spot Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan’s banana art piece, titled “Comedian,” which was eaten by a performance artist on Saturday afternoon.

It would be those who let in millions of hostile immigrants who would be responsible, they will destroy European civilization if there is no war and if the wars go badly they will be responsible for causing them.

A spokesperson for Art Basel directed any questions to authorities. Katherine Wisniewski, spokesperson for the Emmanuel Perrotin art gallery, where the vandalized wall is located, said their gallery is not affiliated with Webber.

You can't do basic math? If we know the number in 2019 and we subtract the number of troops he just sent we find that the number prior to them being sent is lower than the number in 2016. Here is another source: The clearest measure of Trump’s retrenchment efforts, or lack thereof, is foreign troop deployments. In the final months of Obama’s presidency, approximately 198,000 active duty U.S. military personnel were deployed overseas, according to the Pentagon’s Defense Manpower Data Center. By comparison, the most recent figure for the Trump administration is 174,000 active duty troops. But even that difference reflects an accounting trick. Beginning in December 2017, the Defense Department started excluding troops deployed to Afghanistan, Iraq, and Syria from its official reports, citing a vague need to “protect our forces.” When the estimated troop levels for those three countries are added back in, the current total is around 194,000—roughly equivalent to the number Trump inherited. https://www.foreignaffairs.com/artic...-expanded-them

An alarmist headline out of US state-funded media arm Voice of America: "Pentagon Concerned Russia Cultivating Sympathy Among US Troops". The story begins as follows: Russian efforts to weaken the West through a relentless campaign of information warfare may be starting to pay off, cracking a key bastion of the U.S. line of defense: the military. While most Americans still see Moscow as a key U.S. adversary, new polling suggests that view is changing, most notably among the households of military members. Remember when Russia bombed Belgrade back to the middle ages, invaded and occupied Iraq, started an eighteen-year long quagmire in Afghanistan, created anarchy in Libya, funded and armed al-Qaeda in Syria, and expanded its bases right up to US borders? Neither do we. Perhaps American soldiers are simply sick and tired of the US military and intelligence machine's legacy of ashes across the globe and recognize the inconvenient fact that Russia most often has been on the complete opposite side of Washington's disastrous regime change wars. Nothing to see here... The second annual Reagan National Defense Survey, completed in late October, found nearly half of armed services households questioned, 46%, said they viewed Russia as ally. Overall, the survey found 28% of Americans identified Russia as an ally, up from 19% the previous year. ...While a majority, 71% of all Americans and 53% of military households, still views Russia as an enemy, the spike in pro-Russian sentiment has defense officials concerned. —VOA
