I maybe could make some argument that the federal government could have some function to provide catastrophic healthcare coverage, more as a public health argument perhaps. But the individual healthcare could be better left to the states - states could be the association of pooled risk talked about, maybe. But that is for the insurance industry, not government.

There's more . . . The dealmaker-in-chief got beat like a drum by the Speaker of the House. Paul Ryan played Donald Trump for the political amateur that he is, and even Trump knows it. Mr. Trump has told four people close to him that he regrets going along with Speaker Paul D. Ryanís plan to push a health care overhaul before unveiling a tax cut proposal more politically palatable to Republicans. He said ruefully this week that he should have done tax reform first when it became clear that the quick-hit health care victory he had hoped for was not going to materialize on Thursday, the seventh anniversary of the actís passage, when the legislation was scheduled for a vote. http://www.gq.com/story/paul-ryan-out-conned-donald-trump

Maybe that did happen . . . I really do not know/speculate about that, nor can confirm via youtube what I watched live via CSPAN's courtesy coverage to non-cable US citizens during the GOP House Stakeout, revealed after Priebus and Bannon walked out of the full GOP House Member meeting where they voted to vote - no holds barred. Yep. Trump gives Ryan full support but I kinda think that bromance is over now - wonder who survives ? 4D chess is hard - all those multimatrix (if ya' speak Linux OpenSCAD) I could be wrong of course, but maybe it is Trump's move after RINO Ryan went into hyperspace . . . checkers ?

Well Matt, they would have to at least record a "present" to help defeat and keep the needed number of "ayes" for a majority from the yes/no/present total. That aside, Ryan lost his RINO clan yesterday (some solid "no" and I suspect some "present" GOP votes) while the Freedom Caucus held the line. Wisconsin Republicans seem to understand.

Very happy here about how the GOP revolt against RyanRomneyCare went - the bloodbath vote would have been best. Ryan SuperPAC spent how much (?) in radio/TV ads in GOP districts only to FAIL against the Freedom Caucus bloc - more good news. Some nervous breakdowns from the GOP "yes" commitments yesterday are already reported - regretting that decision - but they were already ripe for challenges from newly empowered healthcare freedom candidates in 2018 mid-terms. All is swell, though champagne gets uncorked when Ryan is gone.

Clean repeal is in the air with that executive order, but even without it. People may be confused by the executive order as the law of the land Obamacare was in effect for 2016. Obamacare has resulted in a drop in life expectancy in the USA - never mentioned in yesterday's House debate by either side. That's already a good enuf reason for everybody to opt out of any plan/scheme denying healthcare freedom. As NY Times paper edition headline reads this am - GOP Revolt Sinks Bid to Void Health Law I will argue that any clean repeal gets signed into law by Trump - no veto like Obama, especially since Pence as President of the Senate will have already had to deem it a "reconciliation bill" needing only the GOP Senator majority.

Ryan bluff that it had to be "repeal and replace" tricked Trump - that is why he has to go as Speaker. Breitbart floats replacing Ryan as House Speaker after colossal Trumpcare fail “Republican officials in Congress and the White House are now openly discussing finding a GOP replacement to Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) as Speaker of the House, after Ryan failed to pass the American Health Care Act out of the House and misled the public and President Donald Trump when he promised repeatedly the bill would pass”. The split between the House Freedom Caucus and the Tuesday Group (moderates) proved difficult to manage for former Speaker John Boehner. Last week, Boehner said that in 25 years he never was able to see Republicans agree on a health care plan and that

Rand Paul takes victory lap on GOP health bill Senator Rand Paul (R-Ky.) quickly declared victory on Friday, praising conservatives for "standing up against ObamaCare Lite." “I applaud House conservatives for keeping their word to the American people,” Paul said in a statement. Republican leaders pulled their bill to repeal and replace ObamaCare on Friday afternoon, acknowledging that it was headed toward defeat. Paul — who has been a top antagonist of the House bill — added that "I look forward to passing full repeal of ObamaCare in the very near future.” http://thehill.com/blogs/floor-action/senate/325702-rand-paul-takes-victory-lap-on-gop-health-bill

Not sure Paul Ryan saves face . . . Motion to Vacate speaker can be put in the docket. House Republicans pull health care bill Before the vote was canceled, White House press secretary Sean Spicer said Friday afternoon that Trump has "left everything on the field when it comes to this bill." But Republicans had few firm commitments from conservatives and watched a continued exodus of moderates. This was exactly what House leadership was worried would happen when they changed the bill, the source said. Friday afternoon, moderate Republicans and members of the conservative Freedom Caucus have indicated they won't back the bill. http://www.cnn.com/2017/03/24/politics/house-health-care-vote/

So Paul Ryan tried . . . Trump Insists on Vote to Repeal Health Care, Despite Facing Defeat WASHINGTON — House Speaker Paul D. Ryan, facing a revolt among conservative and moderate Republicans, told President Trump on Friday that he did not have the votes to pass legislation to repeal the Affordable Care Act and to decide whether to pull the bill from consideration. But the president insisted that lawmakers cast their public votes Friday afternoon. https://www.nytimes.com/2017/03/24/us/politics/health-care-affordable-care-act.html CSPAN Live went blank though . . .and So Ryan v. Trump . . . wonder who survives. Trump’s First Legislative Effort Fails as G.O.P. Pulls Bill to Repeal Obamacare WASHINGTON — House Republican leaders, facing a revolt among conservatives and moderates in their ranks, pulled legislation to repeal the Affordable Care Act from consideration on the House floor Friday afternoon in a humiliating defeat for President Trump on the first legislative showdown of his presidency.
