Haven't watched. Probably won't. But the odds that Jesse Lee Peterson was able to win any argument on any topic against Yaron Brook are zero percent. You can say whatever you want about Yaron Brook's views, but he is very articulate and smart. Jesse Lee Peterson has the brains and verbal ability of a combination of Evander Holyfield and Joe Frazier. Edit: Skipped around. I am pretty sure Peterson has brain damage. I would imagine most doctors listening to this would want to get this guy in concussion protocol. Good chance he has CTE. He would be the last person I would ever want articulating something I believed in.

Total deaths in all of the United States with a rifle in any given year between 250 and 400. https://thefederalist.com/2014/11/11/knives-kill-more-people-each-year-than-rifles-time-for-knife-control/ Interesting they dwell on something that makes up such a small number of deaths.

Is the US a socialist leaning country? Federal, State, and local spending combined with the cost to comply with regulations is over 50% of the economy. Denmark ranks ahead of the US in business freedom by the World Bank and are neck and neck in the Heritage Economic Freedom Index. Sweden was the most capitalistic country in the world 60 years ago. So it is a sliding scale.

That is what every mush head on the left says. I'll help you out. It is a matter of degree. China is socialist country. The government literally owns much of the means of production. China is also a shithole country. It is an impoverished mess. Scandanavian countries are roughly the same as the US in terms of free enterprise. They have more generous welfare states and higher taxes but they also have fewer regulations, freer trade, don't spend as much on military, and until recently lower corporate tax rates.

I believe Zippyjuan says the reason is politics moved too far to the right and when Ronald Reagan was governor he was basically a Democrat. Here is the Gipper saying Medicare will lead to a Marxist dictatorship which I guess is a standard talking point among Senators like Barbara Boxer and Kamala Harris.

Their season could go so many ways right now. If they beat MSU at home and get a win out of OSU, PSU, or ND that would put them at 9-3 and put them near the top 10. On the other hand all four of the teams mentioned are very possible losses and Indiana isn't a free game either. They have a top 10 team in talent. But make errors like they are in the MAC. So they could just as easily be 7-5. Gut instinct is 9-4 (win a bad bowl game win or a loss in a good bowl game if they finish 9-3 in the regular season) and finish 18th in the final rankings.

I mentioned in another thread Doug Casey wrote two of the best fiction books I have ever read: Speculator and Drug Lord. I never really paid attention to him because I thought he was a goldtard salesman. But smart guy. IMHO, he might be the best liberty writer in history.

As far as novels, I read Speculator and Drug Lord by Doug Casey over the last couple of weekends and I honestly think they blow Atlas Shrugged (or anything he mentioned) away in terms quality of writing. I always thought Casey was slightly crazy but he writes a heck of a great story. Highly recommended. As far as the rest of the stuff Rowe said, I agree. I remember Peter Thiel saying something about how much more ineffective government has become.

The way I read what you say is that you dislike the Kurds because they aren't primitive monkeys. They embrace evil Western corporations and want to live in the First World. And they committed the really big sin in your eyes of siding with the evil US after being gassed by the heroic Saddam Hussein. Absolutely shameful they wouldn't take their nerve gas like good boys and girls.

Geez. These threads. Yes corporations would and should exist in a free market. The one thing Mitt Romney got right was corporations are people. They are people voluntarily banding together under a contract outlining property rights. Government has a role with corporations to enforce contracts. The fact that large corporations are usually owned by more than a few people is a good thing. Large groups of people are able to voluntarily invest with knowledge that there are legal protections which enables business to raise more capital and grow. If you didn't have corporations, you would have sole proprietors and maybe a family member or two.

When he gets things right like judges, tax cuts, deregulation, slightly less militarism, taking on the press I say it. When he gets things wrong like tariffs, compulsively lying, behaving like a buffoon, chumming up to Saudi Arabia, massive budget increases, agricultural subsidies, ousting and trying to oust good members of Congress I get involved in those threads. It isn't an all bad or all good thing with Trump.

Sanders plays this race card that whites are oppressing minorities and that is why there is a wealth gap so he thinks reparations and free college are the answer. But why do Jews, who have also faced major discrimination, and most have only recently come to the US with nothing outperform every ethnic group? Never pointed out are blacks are concentrated in the lowest paying/easiest college majors and Bernie wants to double down on that. It isn't whitey's fault that blacks don't become doctors or engineers and other high paying jobs. The standards are already EXTREMELY relaxed for blacks and hispanics to get into those programs. It isn't whitey's fault that blacks are much less likely to be entrepreneurs. https://www.nber.org/papers/w3537 How much welfare and affirmative action have been given to blacks since the War on Poverty. That debt of slavery has long been paid but Bernie thinks we need to spend trillions more to "make things right". "African-Americans over-represented among low-paying college majors" https://www.pbs.org/newshour/education/african-americans-over-represented-among-low-paying-college-majors I just can't admire anyone who wants to see Bernie's vision implemented.

The US spends 250k a classroom. Nobody on the left ever questions where that money goes. Nobody ever questions why the US government will be any more efficient running health care. Here is a little known fact. The US spends almost as much per person on government health care as the UK already between Medicare, Medicaid, the VA system and Obamacare subsidies. "total federal resources dedicated to health care, which include tax benefits as well, total about 8 percent of the economy" https://www.crfb.org/papers/american-health-care-health-spending-and-federal-budget "otal current healthcare expenditure in the UK accounted for 9.6% of gross domestic product (GDP) in 2017, compared with 9.7% in 2016. https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/healthandsocialcare/healthcaresystem/bulletins/ukhealthaccounts/2017 The Green New Deal cost would be multiples of the economy with little environmental benefit and giving up the huge gains we've made in oil discovery. The US is already energy independent. " We provided a range of estimates for each element. If one adds up the low end of the range, the total is $52 trillion (over the next 10 years); at the high end it is $93 trillion." https://www.aspeninstitute.org/blog-posts/how-much-will-the-green-new-deal-cost/ And here is a fun fact from a Harvard educated economist. Medicare is underfunded by $200 trillion dollars. https://www.npr.org/2011/08/06/139027615/a-national-debt-of-14-trillion-try-211-trillion It's telling they use the failed New Deal (unemployment was 14% at the start of WWII eight years after FDR was elected) and Medicare in the names of their current proposals. But hey. Supporting Bernie is no big deal. Freedom hero FDR had 90% tax rates and confiscated gold and put business owners in jail for violating price control laws and the country apparently was great or something.

Hate them all. There is no policy gateway between Bernie and Ron. They were never on board with Ron's actual views. It was mostly young people who saw what a disaster Iraq was and Ron was one of the only people to stand against Iraq at potential political cost from the start. This isn't a new position for me. I hated them back in 2009-2012 before I joined the forum and occasionally lurked. I knew they were never real allies. And there were a lot of them. Now that they are in their 30s with unpaid student loans, they want their human rights, i.e. free shit.

Sanders said Venezuela and Argentina were where the American Dream was most likely to be realized in 2011. Interest rates are now 60% in Argentina as they try to avoid Venezuela's fate. Bernie supported the Communist Sandinistas against the US . He still says nice things about Castro. He thought breadlines were a sign of civilization because in wealthy countries wealthy people hoard the food from the poor. Then there are his Leninstyle rhetoric and policy proposals against the modern day kulaks he wants to liquidate. Sorry. I don't equate John Cornyn and Mitt Romney with Bernie.

Bernie is the most fundamentally evil person in politics. I don't care even a little bit what a Bernie supporter thinks. The small good Snowden did exposing something everyone knew (and not even as bad as I would have thought) is a drop in the ocean to the destruction and loss of freedom Bernie could do.

I still sort of thought he did what he did out of principle but thought he should be prosecuted with a light sentence to discourage people from dumping secrets like Manning or Reality Winner or this latest Trump leaker. Now I just think he is anti-American trash and wouldn't mind seeing him get life in prison if not be executed.

Basically everything has gone right for Michigan defensively and they are only up 10-3 against Iowa at the half. They have a quarterback who has gotten worse every year. Just a terrible decision maker. Three fumbles and a interception this half. If Michigan played in a conference where they had to score points, they would have a losing record. A team like Georgia would beat them 60-14

A good broker will get you fills at a better than an anticipated price. A bad broker will get you fills at a worse than anticipated price. People focus on the couple of bucks in commissions and customer service and stuff that really doesn't matter but ignore the big stuff like saving 5 or 10 or 20 cents on getting in and out of trades. Honestly any retail trader who doesn't use Interactive Brokers is lighting money on fire. There is a reason they are the top rated broker every year. https://www.interactivebrokers.com/en/index.php?f=1340

I haven't formed an opinion on this yet. But the consensus on Robinhood is that the fills are terrible and it is absolute junk. I suspect that nothing is so expensive as a free brokerage account. The way a broker routes trades has a huge impact and I suspect that selling this data to high frequency trading firms for a "free look" is how these brokers will make their money.

I agree with Rand but I say that as someone who thinks Bradley Manning should have been executed and would probably put Snowden in jail for breaking his contract. This leaker is no whistleblower or hero, but I suspect Rand would be defending him or her if they were leaking Hillary intel. This is Rand being very inconsistent.

You pretty much listed a bunch of AOC talking points. 1. Greedy doctors gouging consumers aren't the problem with medical costs 2. Debt is an investment. The bond market is larger than the stock market. I am pretty all those people who buy debt are looking to make money. 3. Insurance is a way to transfer catastrophic risk. It isn't a scam. 4. People who get a mortgage that they can't repay are just as much at fault as bank that lent to them with relaxed standards. I just looked up and see 97% aren't defaulted on. There are more than just " some good mortgages" 5. People should be able to make a decision about whether they take on debt and under what terms. Free people don't need big brother to keep them from making dumb decisions.

So basically you are a Communist who doesn't think people should be allowed to get mortgages, have credit cards, or invest in bonds. The virtuous people in your world are people who don't pay what they owe and the bad guys are the people who lent money so that the borrower could get future consumption today. And that is predatory in your world because apparently people don't have free will.

Lew isn't a libertarian. He is a nihilist who just wants to destroy things and wants controversy. I have come to believe he doesn't care even a little bit about what Austrian economics even says. I think at this point he just likes that it is "anti-establishment." If all of sudden more mainstream economists started quoting Mises, then Mises would become a bad guy and get trashed because he wasn't "pure" enough like Rothbard. All the while he would be licking Trump's butt.
