Is the economy off track and what crisis are you talking about? The economy is booming. This is about as good as it gets. That isn't an endorsement of policy and it doesn't mean things won't get worse. But we aren't in a crisis right now. Things are great in the USA, especially compared to the rest of the world.

I have never understood the SALT deduction. You incentivize higher taxes at the local level. There should be a cost associated with living in a blue state that isn't subsidized by everyone else. The people who are complaining about this wanted big government. They should bear the cost of big government.

The cigar in the original post seems a little feminine. I am not saying the original poster is but... All I am saying that thin little brown thing looks like it is something you might see "coming" out of Jussie Smollett's mouth. I am about smoke a cigar in the freezing cold garage like a degenerate with a tumbler full of coffee.

I think I realized the average person was insane, incompetent or evil in high school when I realized how worthless the average school teacher was. I think 70% of teachers are socialists and 90% are placeholders. So I always faulted the electorate who votes more than the individual politicians.

I didn't say anything remotely similar to that. Not even close. But yes. Mises would agree that entrepreneurs who deliver products better and cheaper create wealth. Day traders create wealth. Bill Gates creates wealth. People who build Ferrari's create wealth. And middlemen create wealth. You seem have this notion that only physical goods are wealth and services aren't wealth. That would be wrong.

The only people who would agree with you are probably Marxist economists. Mises spends a lot of time in Human Action ripping arguments like yours to shreds.

So Bill Gates and Sam Walton have created more wealth than just about any two people in world history. Turning raw materials in physical products is not necessary to producing wealth. Doing something more efficiently and cheaper creates wealth. In Bill Gates' case marketing software that improves lives creates wealth. Middlemen also create wealth. It is cool that the Hitchhiker's Guide has stories about about middleman aren't worthwhile. I'll stick to economics textbooks that point out how important middleman and speculators are for creating a properly functioning economy.

Last time I checked K-Mart is bankrupt. Wal-Mart isn't. I think I last stepped into a K-Mart when I was about 5 years old. Clearly Sam Walton did something right. Sam Walton is one of the greatest (if not the greatest) entrepreneurs in history. How does that apply to what I said? It doesn't seem at all related to government handing out subsidies.

He said they work "exploiting the workers". https://www.cnbc.com/id/39849019 The US ranks near the top of every ranking of economic freedom. Venezuela near the bottom. The End.

Chavez seized dozens of multinational corporations. It turns out people don't want to invest in a country where the government arbitrarily takes property on that kind of mass scale. That's kind of a common thread in countries with hyperinflation. Allende seized thousands of farms. Mugabe had his own "land reform". Comparing that to food stamps is quite dumb. In terms of level of respect for property rights, the US is probably a 9 out of 10. Venezueula is more like a 2 out of 10. You can say Medicare is the same thing as mass seizures. It just makes your opinion wrong and not serious. https://www.reuters.com/article/venezuela-nationalizations/factbox-venezuelas-nationalizations-under-chavez-idUSN1E79I0Z520111201

As they should be. If someone aggresses against you, how would you resolve the dispute with courts and police? Or if you run someone over, how will they have recourse against you? Never really answered by sovereign citizens.

You need courts, police and military and you need to pay for them. The absence of taxation is an absence of liberty. Saying taxation is theft just like stealing a TV set is theft is the same argument argument PETA would use. PETA will say taking a life is wrong. So they will equate killing a human and killing a cow or vilify trophy hunters. I get those are arguments people make. The problem is rights only exist to further human life. Taxation is an important part of furthering human life to the extent it used to core functions like courts, police, and military. And if you disagree. go start your own tax free competing country and see how well that works.

Ummmm..... Yeah.... It is actually the only question that matters. The test of how good an idea is if it works. Doesn't work. Not a good idea. Anarchism doesn't work. Therefore bad idea.

For some reason, all of these anarchists that move there equate not having a strong rule of law with freedom. Mexico is a third world shithole. Property rights and rule of law are what make a functioning society. Mexico has neither, therefore it is not free. I am not going to dump on this guy. I am strongly against the drug war. He should have watched Narcos Mexico. These guys don't mess around. One of the film crew scouts for Narcos was murdered in Mexico because he was poking around.

Kind of. Yeah. Hugo Chavez just took dozens of American businesses. You can't just take businesses. What other process should they go through? The World Trade Organization ruled against Venezuela. Then they didn't pay. At some point you just have to just start taking stuff to make things whole.

Is it theft? They probably shouldn't be getting any revenue from Citgo. Venezuela just nationalized numerous American and Canadian corporations and they never compensated those companies. Here is what a judge ruled. U.S. Judge Authorizes Seizure of Venezuela’s Citgo https://www.wsj.com/articles/u-s-judge-authorizes-seizure-of-venezuelas-citgo-1533853734 “There is a huge amount of judgment coming down the line, and they don’t have the resources to pay.” https://www.houstonchronicle.com/business/energy/article/CITGO-13261273.php

This is the kind of whataboutism that makes me post in these Venezuela threads. Donald Trump is nothing like Maduro. Neither was Obama. Neither was any other US president. Jacob Hornberger is a buffoon and a continual to embarrassment to actual libertarians. He is the worst. And of course he is a Salvador Allende apologist and had to get his usual anti-Pinochet rant in. As far as Trump's actions, all he is doing is making sure Maduro doesn't steal the rightful president's assets. This isn't some crazy foreign intervention. This is what Trump should be doing. This is what a libertarian should support. And it is worth noting, the Venezuelan government stole billions from US companies. Chavez literally stole US businesses. A US judge already has awarded that the US government seize billions in Citgo's assets and confiscating all the CITGO refineries in the US is apparently on the table to satisfy their debt. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/08/20/business/energy-environment/conocophillips-venezuela-oil.html https://www.cnbc.com/video/2018/08/30/why-venezuelas-citgo-is-in-danger-of-being-seized.html https://www.cnbc.com/video/2018/08/30/venezuelas-citgo-refineries-in-the-us-are-at-risk-of-being-seized-and-sold.html

Oh, hi. I pop up in every major thread about trade advocating for free trade and I make many posts in the trade threads.. Started criticizing Trump about it in in summer of 2015 when he announced. I have made dozens if not over a hundred pro-immigration posts. And I am not blood thirsty. You are blood thirsty. Your worldview has resulted in the deaths in hundreds of millions and enslavement of billions. There is no debate over Marxism. It doesn't work. Ever. Supporting a Marxist regime is morally bankrupt. Give one example of the US stealing a country's resources. I would love to hear one.

But you are those things. No freedom loving person can support the Maduro regime. Freedom loving people don't support Marxist dictators and they don't morally equate Marxist dictators with US presidents. The failure of Marxism isn't a neocon plot. It happens all on its own.

I mean you said some variation of that multiple times. It is literally the only reason I kept responding. It was the whole reason you kept linking to my quotes. I just linked to you saying it sounds like BS that I wasn't intervention. Here is another one. You said that. The Jews and Enron and Dick Cheney didn't secretly plant that.

No need to call me a liar. I mean you literally said this in your first response to me saying I am not promoting intervention, which is what responded to. I feel like that statement is outside of the kindness trusting tree. All I did was point out I am not promoting intervention. And you continuously posted comments of mine that in no way promoted intervention. Nothing bitchy about. No liquor cabinet. No need to call me a liar. You equate not actively opposing something as supporting it.
