I can never remotely understand this line of thinking. Justin Amash is probably one of five most liberty minded congressmen of the last 100 years. The odds of replacing him with someone better are 0.000000000000000000%. I don't support impeachment but it is a very reasonable position. Judge Napolitano seems to think Trump is on thin ice.

Of course, I support Justin. That said, he could go about opposing or disapproving of Trump in numerous ways. Instead he makes a comment about impeachment which puts his seat in jeopardy. That tells me he probably is ambivalent about being in Congress. Mark Sanford did the same thing. His calling for impeachment doesn't serve any purpose politically or in getting Trump impeached.

China is one of the poorest places on Earth. The median income is around 600 bucks a month with a low quality of life. They have grown from a low starting point through debt and wage arbitrage which cant last forever. China is not a success story. They have a zillion people and a Communist government who takes a big cut of the pie so the government has a lot of power. For the average person the country is a filthy impoverished hell.

That's a little harsh with AEI. The are obviously catastrophically bad on foreign policy. They tend to have some good econ guys. Not everyone there is Bill Kristol. For example, I see Lew Rockwell/Tom Woods/Bob Murphy types link to Mark Perry, who would fit in at the Mises Institute. https://www.aei.org/scholar/mark-j-perry/ I really like Mark Perry's stuff. He has a lot of unique data that debunks liberal talking points.

I am glad I am not the only person who is confused. You have contract employees with no benefits who only get paid for driving who provide their own vehicles and don't work out of offices. Yet both Lyft and Uber puke money and there are real questions if they can survive long term. Also of note Uber has roughly the same total market value as Ford and GM combined, both of which make money. And as a completely random aside Tesla which has 1/8th the sales of Ford and loses money has the same market value as Ford.

Market probably a buy with a half position here at 282.5 and hold for small rally. Maybe sell first up close vs previous day. Add if Monday opens down big.

I am a Millennial and I've noticed how pervasive anti-Americanism is. You see so few people who believe in the American Dream. This generation really is different. I used to think that people would become more conservative once they paid taxes but I don't see that happening. I saw a poll showing how much farther left Millennials are at this stage in life vs previous generations. It seems like nihilism has really taken hold. Just a lot of people who want to live off the government with free college, free health care, Social Security, guaranteed minimum income and they want "hate speech" to be banned so they can't be offended. Voting at 16, felons voting, putting people in jail for misgendering or saying something bad about radical Islam are happening. And when MMT gains widespread acceptance, I shudder to think what will happen. The promise of endless free stuff with no bad consequences has never ended well for any country.

I doubt this story is anything major. But Trump isn't Warren Buffett or Charles Koch. He isn't a good decision maker and investor. He is primarily a salesman and a decent builder who inherited a a bunch of money and was able to use a ton of leverage to give the illusion of being more successful than he is. The flip side is Trump isn't the loser that his critics make him out to be. He is still pretty smart.

I am generally a permabull but probably neutral over the next 5 years now. The fact that unemployment is this low is fundamentally a huge negative for the market over the next few years. And usually the market goes into a bear market after the Fed stops tightening and pauses like it has now. I doubt this the ultimate top. But the fundamental picture is not strong for the market. Good stats. 1125234114653716483

Oh. You can be "white" in Ilhan Omar's American. But just realize you can't be one of those icky whites who denies their privilege or doesn't feel great shame about their role in slavery and killing Indians and stealing land from peaceful Mexicans. You can be white as long you are at protests demanding statues of Thomas Jefferson are taken down. Just realize white people have done very little in world history except commit genocide and oppress.

Ilhan Omar is the perfect example of why not to let Muslim refugees into the country. Islam and freedom don't mix. It is also a good reason to not give aid to these countries. No good deed goes unpunished. This idiot thought the good guys were the Somali terrorists and the bad guys were the Black Hawk Down guys bringing food and water to starving people. These people are all just disgusting racists. Everything is about privilege and power and good luck. I found a forum that I just started posting at a couple of weeks ago that isn't a specifically left wing forum. The people tend to be educated and I am scared. Pretty much every person on the left 2019 is off the rails. NOBODY on the left in 2019 believes in the founding ideals of this country. I don't even like Donald Trump but I am convinced his reelection is really important. The left will add Supreme Court justices. The left wants to take all guns. The left wants 16 year olds and felons voting. The left wants to spend multiples of the entire of the entire current debt on the Green New Deal. Free college. Free health care. Bans on hate speech More affirmative action. When America turns into Greece, they will find XYZ excuse for why it failed. I can only imagine if my web history is somehow known or saved by Google and it gets released in 20 years. Wrong think is going to be a crime.

Trump is easily the best golfer ever to be in the White House. Not that it is saying much but it isn't really close actually. I would guess Obama Clinton and Bush are all pretty similar. None of them are good.

I don't know. I obviously I don't think the government should do anything and people should have access to whatever they want. My gut feeling is there will be pressure to crack down on opiates and places that fill online pet prescriptions would be a pretty likely target.

In a free society most people shouldn't be allowed to vote. The Founders of this country limited voting to 25% of the population for good reason. The idea of letting prisoners vote and have a say in anything is beyond insane. If you steal or murder, your opinion no longer counts. I think it has an easy answer. Strong constitution and more voting restrictions. Leftists love to talk about the Preamble of the Constitution as a way to justify all sorts of welfare statism. Here is what the author of the Preamble, Gouverneur Morris, had to say about voting: "The time is not distant when this country will abound with mechanics and manufacturers who will receive their bread from their employers. Will such men be the secure and faithful guardians of liberty? Give the votes to people who have no property, and they will sell them to the rich who will be able to buy them."

I predict in the next 3-5 years the major people who will get zapped for selling opiods are people who sell pain relievers to pets PetMed literally has built there business on selling pet medication to humans. They even advertise on Google to drug addicts. http://aureliusvalue.com/research/petmed-exploiting-americas-opioid-epidemic/

Maybe. Just maybe. The Judge is giving his honest analysis based on the facts as he sees them and holding Trump to the same standard as he would have held Hillary Clinton. It isn't really Napolitano's job to be a Trump cheerleader.

I just Zillowed his house. It is 4000 sq ft. Though Zillow does say it is only 215k. I have never been a fan of Ron and Rand dressing like hobos. I would rather they dressed well and wore a nice watch and were proud of their life success. I don't understand this man of the people garbage. I liked Romney because of his success. He worked for it. He earned it. If he wants a car elevator. Good for him. One good thing about Carter was he completely discredited Keynesianism. He thought you controlled inflation through high taxes. So in a terrible economy with high inflation he wanted higher taxes and loose money, which is the exact wrong policy. I could imagine gas lines were fun too.

I had a salvage title car well into my 20s. When I traded it in, I think I got $100 for it. Literally. Any parent who lets their kid drive a new car is a bad parent and is teaching their kid a horrible lesson. And on a side note, I feel like 70-80% of the people I see on the road driving German cars have not reached a level of success commensurate with the car they are driving. Seems like a lot of people skip the whole working hard part and go straight to the consumption part.

    1. The recession ended March 2009! 2. Adjusting rates has nothing to do with whether monetary policy is loose or tight or goosing the stock market. If markets are forecasting rate cuts or if you use some other benchmark like NGDP that show the economy slowing, not cutting rates is tight policy and cutting rates is neutral policy. Saying conditions are different is nonsensical. If a rate cut is what is needed, it is what is needed. Realistically rates should change daily by a computer and they should change based on what markets are forecasting. the paradox of cutting rates when they are needed is that it will likely lead to fewer rate cuts in the future on more historically normal interest rates. Smart person's take who has been right about everything the last 11 years. https://www.econlib.org/cutting-rates-would-not-be-reversing-course/
