When neo-nazis in Springfield complain about Haitians, I'm fully aware that they're just latching on to a convenient topic to garner support.

The people involved being Haitian refugees is an essential point if the topic is Haitian refugees. Shifting the discussion to some unrelated incidents where nobody involved was Haitian or a refugee completely invalidates the anti-Haitian, anti-refugee argument.

Is "the whole point of interest the motivations and circumstances behind it?" No. It is reported as a fact, the primary theme is that he's black, and the implication is that the man's blackness is the cause of the shooting. Nobody's asking what happened in his life that led to this. 2. White guy shoots white kids in a school.

He needs a cause for the shooting that is essential to the person's identity.

You think that this is somehow a conspiracy against white people when it's actually the complete opposite. Black kid gets killed by a stray bullet from a drive-by shooting, that gets at most a mention on the local evening news. White kid gets killed by a stray bullet in a school shooting, this gets weeks of press.
