If that was Rand's plan, it was a bad plan. But oh well, it's done now. We'll see what happens.

Cozying up with your opponent in order to win over their supporters is tricky business (ask Ted Cruz). I was opposed to Rand doing that in summer 2016, from day one. But, if the goal is only to not alienate Trumpkins too much, while maintaining enough independence to later turn on and attack Trump or his chosen successor in 2020/2024 resp., fine. And, until this morning, when I saw the Pompeo article, Rand still had enough room to maneuver to pool that off. He had played the "I'm defending Trump's policies against Trump" game pretty well. But now he looks like Trump's bitch. He looks like just another whore GOPer who licks the GOPer President's boots. He looks like somebody who will never piss off Trumpkins, but also can't with a straight face ever criticize Trump, or run against him/his people. I think he fucked up big time.

Yes, I'll still support Rand. But I have to tell you nikcers, this took something out of it for me. I joined RPF primarily to support Rand's 2016 run (that's the 3.0 in revolution 3.0 - the third Paul run). Rand just stepped on his dick and it's a serious problem IMO.

I don't see any concessions, except lies from a liar. A principled "Nay" would have been better, with respect to rallying for future purposes what remaining doves (nevermind libertarians) there are.

Disagree Rand's previous maneuverings had a clear logic to them; this is senseless: unforced error. I don't believe he's lost his principles, but I am wondering if he's lost his mind, or nerve. Extremely disappointing

I meant, if he should manage to win the primary, then screw the party and everyone who fought him. Tell people the truth, burning down the GOP in the process. If he only gets a few votes, it doesn't set "the swamp" on fire. It does nothing, except inspire a few future leaders. But that is better than nothing: continued cooption, dying slow.

Once again, you're not listening. Let me bold and underline my point to avoid any possible miscommunication: Rand should run. He will not win. He should run to make a point. Let Atlas shrug. The base won't support him. They'll support retard, or Pence, or some other bolshevik. ...but, a few non-morons out there might be enlightened or at least encouraged by the endeavor.

You're not listening. The goal, for a classical liberal these days, can't be winning elections. That's preposterous. I just want somebody to make a statement.

No, they'd spend all of their energy trying to get on the ballot. Rand's a sitting US Senator, whose owed a favor or two from Turtleface. He should run and, once the primary's won (no problem), tell them all to go fuck themselves and get real. Go Ron.

Since the departure of relentless Trump promoter/Paul trasher Bill O'Reilly, SnowBall is the most prominent Trump shill in the mainstream media. He does nothing but stir up anti-immigrant and related nationalist sentiments; this is what he is paid large sums to do. If you are pleased with the shift of the GOP toward nationalism, you really ought to send him a fruit basket.

I'm not seeing any evidence that the GOP has the liberal inclinations you claim. I don't follow. What does the GOP base, the Trump wing in particular, being absolutely useless have to do with whether or not Rand should run? As I said some posts up, Rand won't win, but someone must make a stand and put something in the books for future generations to contemplate.

So afraid of "demoncrats" as to not care whether it is the aforementioned non-persons or "their" party which massively grows government. That's it, of course. The number of shits which the average GOPer gives about policy is exactly 0 (zero). Their enthusiasm is limited to beating the "demoncrats" (which means continuing the same policies, under different leadership).

Since that travesty, Trump's approval ratings have increased, and the generic Congressional ballot has closed toward GOPers. That would suggest that, at best, Trump's base doesn't care at all about these issues. ...which is also obviously true, if one goes out beyond the Facebook version of reality and talks to people.

You believe that most Trump voters share your ideals...? If you mean wanting to restrict immigration, yep, that's true. But as far as making government smaller, no, lol, they don't share those values.

That's questionable reasoning, but, if we're to take that route, the median is a monarchy with a parliament of some sort (not popularly elected).

Hogwash, the drug is: 1. Moral-hazard-creating and subsequently bust-creating (and "fixing") cheap money policy by the central bank 2. $4 trillion budgets devoted overwhelmingly to popular and corporate welfare (including DoD spending). 3. $3 trillion in pure dead-weight loss from regulatory compliance. Our problems aren't in China; they're in Washington D.C. (or, everywhere Boobus gets to vote).
