I meant, if he should manage to win the primary, then screw the party and everyone who fought him. Tell people the truth, burning down the GOP in the process. If he only gets a few votes, it doesn't set "the swamp" on fire. It does nothing, except inspire a few future leaders. But that is better than nothing: continued cooption, dying slow.

Once again, you're not listening. Let me bold and underline my point to avoid any possible miscommunication: Rand should run. He will not win. He should run to make a point. Let Atlas shrug. The base won't support him. They'll support retard, or Pence, or some other bolshevik. ...but, a few non-morons out there might be enlightened or at least encouraged by the endeavor.

You're not listening. The goal, for a classical liberal these days, can't be winning elections. That's preposterous. I just want somebody to make a statement.

He's an extremely popular figure among Trump supporters. Why this is so should be no mystery; watch him some time. He, like BillO and various other whores on FOX slobber on Donald. ...but teh Deep State's fighting him

No, they'd spend all of their energy trying to get on the ballot. Rand's a sitting US Senator, whose owed a favor or two from Turtleface. He should run and, once the primary's won (no problem), tell them all to go fuck themselves and get real. Go Ron.

Since the departure of relentless Trump promoter/Paul trasher Bill O'Reilly, SnowBall is the most prominent Trump shill in the mainstream media. He does nothing but stir up anti-immigrant and related nationalist sentiments; this is what he is paid large sums to do. If you are pleased with the shift of the GOP toward nationalism, you really ought to send him a fruit basket.

I'm not seeing any evidence that the GOP has the liberal inclinations you claim. I don't follow. What does the GOP base, the Trump wing in particular, being absolutely useless have to do with whether or not Rand should run? As I said some posts up, Rand won't win, but someone must make a stand and put something in the books for future generations to contemplate.

So afraid of "demoncrats" as to not care whether it is the aforementioned non-persons or "their" party which massively grows government. That's it, of course. The number of shits which the average GOPer gives about policy is exactly 0 (zero). Their enthusiasm is limited to beating the "demoncrats" (which means continuing the same policies, under different leadership).

Since that travesty, Trump's approval ratings have increased, and the generic Congressional ballot has closed toward GOPers. That would suggest that, at best, Trump's base doesn't care at all about these issues. ...which is also obviously true, if one goes out beyond the Facebook version of reality and talks to people.

Ah, I see we got demoted to the Rand Forum (which, these days, is a kind of exile, isn't it?). It's important to make sure there's plenty of room for asinine pro-Trump conspiracy theories in US Politics, amiright?

You believe that most Trump voters share your ideals...? If you mean wanting to restrict immigration, yep, that's true. But as far as making government smaller, no, lol, they don't share those values.

That's questionable reasoning, but, if we're to take that route, the median is a monarchy with a parliament of some sort (not popularly elected).

Hogwash, the drug is: 1. Moral-hazard-creating and subsequently bust-creating (and "fixing") cheap money policy by the central bank 2. $4 trillion budgets devoted overwhelmingly to popular and corporate welfare (including DoD spending). 3. $3 trillion in pure dead-weight loss from regulatory compliance. Our problems aren't in China; they're in Washington D.C. (or, everywhere Boobus gets to vote).

Not yet (it can't happen here, of course...), but the naivete that you're displaying in thinking that you can somehow co-opt or redirect the energy of the Trumpenproletariat toward liberal goals is very reminiscent of the attitudes displayed by the German upper classes before the deluge (some of whom financed the NSDAP for fear of communists ). Same with the Russian aristocracy. They almost literally (in some cases literally) dug their own graves - all based on an absurdly inflated opinion of the man on the street (who, to their chagrin, was less inclined to thank than rob and hang them).

Allowing everybody to vote is a bad idea? Huh, ... Now, whoever could have predicted that this would become a problem (...I mean, except every literate person who ever lived prior to ~1789 AD)?

I'll wager that there's a neglected but shiny granite wall somewhere in Berlin or Rome which lists the names of people with similar ideas.

Back when China was in the stone age (i.e. communism, excessive state control of the economy), what did our government spend? What was our debt? What was the regulatory burden? ...how's it now thirty years later? Without major and politically impossible reforms, the standard of living of Americans would/will dramatically decline without cheap imports.

No, if that, it would be better that he not run at all. For my part, the sole purpose of Rand running would be to kill Trumpism, lock it in a concrete box, and dump in an outhouse where it belongs. So long as the narrative is dominated by Hannity and related clowns spewing nationalist propaganda, nothing will or can improve. If the liberty movement isn't capable of winning elections anymore, so be it, then our last good service to humanity should be to end this abomination. Force people to call a spade a spade.

No, I'm saying that the protectionist is committing suicide. Or, perhaps more on point, cutting off his nose to spite his face. There is no question that Chinese peasants will be poorer as a result of these higher taxes, but so will American peasants. It would be nice if politicians weren't demagogues, playing to popular ignorance, and tried rather to do what was best for the people.
