That may be a great ruling principle for a golf club or a school, but in the real world, dealing with millions and billions of people, it is hopelessly and utterly inadequate. Some people keep snakes as pets, they may be gentle and kind and make a good pet. That doesn't mean I should pick up every rattlesnake I see and assume it's just a friendly snake.

To me he was always history’s personification of a total badass with unshakable resolve. It also helped that he was hilarious (often spontaneously), wrote some of the finest English I’ve had the pleasure of reading, had charisma capable of rallying a beleaguered nation, and somehow did it all while basically being a functioning alcoholic. His autobiography “My Early Life, Thoughts & Adventures,” is one of my favorite books; by the time he was 27 he had already lived what would be a dozen lives for normal people (did you know he was taken as a PoW during the Second Boer War but managed to escape thanks to some miraculous good luck … imagine how differently history might have evolved had he had his luck gone the opposite way). Embracing my habit of pursuing the most unpopular opinion possible on every possible topic, mark me down for believing Churchill’s due a reconsideration. Over the years I’ve learned more about him that I like much less. Specifically how he had the ability to help resolve a British empire-induced famine in India but chose not to, unapologetically used mass starvation as a weapon against German citizens, supported the use of chemical weapons, and was pretty clearly involved in the sinking of the Lusitania. He certainly wasn’t above facilitating the deaths of UK-aligned noncombatants if their deaths could be effectively exploited in a much larger conflict. And I don’t think this is the kind of “presentism” analysis progressives are so often using against slave-owning Founding Fathers. Because at the time Churchill wasn’t in the mainstream on any of these issues — he was always pulling Overton’s Window toward more death.

They sell apple snails and silkworm larvae and about every beef and pork organ you can think of. If they did sell dog or cat meat it wouldn't be a secret. TBH I don't see a lot of Haitians in there though, so there's probably not a market for it.

I also have to point out that the international market, the one where I have to go to get sesame oil and tamari and basa and rajma masala, the one that also sells me produce for less than the "white" grocers and of greater variety (they always have bok choy and okra), the one that carries 110oz cans of Goya products, the one with an actual seafood counter, the one that gives me a couple free cans of soda if I spend over $100, that grocer has like four guys constantly employed picking up every single cart and moving it to the front of the store. Wegmans charges me more money for less selection and is patronized by entitled yuppies who expect me to bring the cart back.

Deciding who you allow into your community is not "playing God".

To answer your question I think both are equally bad for differing reasons, but at the end of the day both continue to hollow out and gut the middle class, US independence and the nation's manufacturing base.

They amount to the same thing. The reason "this thread up here" is precisely because "the cat story became the immigration narrative for the past week".
