I really don't think people hated even Hitler as much, as much as they hated Trump.

January 19, 2021 Benito Mussolini said that "Fascism should more appropriately be called Corporatism because it is a merger of state and corporate power." When surveying modern events, along with events over the last century, is this not the major problem that we face today? http://www.ronpaullibertyreport.com/

Just so we're clear - I didn't say he was good. I said he was less bad, and I stand by that. Obama launched wars all over MENA, smuggled weapons to ISIS, etc. The Bush's go without saying. Clinton literally launched cruise missiles to deflect media attention to his blow jobs, etc. So, to recap, Trump was awful. But only slightly less awful than his predecessors.

He was different in the amount of vitriol that was directed his way. Probably not even Lincoln was hated as much in his time,, as much as Trump was.. Which had all kinds of second and third order effects. Not the least of which is the polarization of America, which I consider a huge step forward in terms of bringing about meaningful change (for better or worse)

No, I have a feeling that Trump will be their Trump card to play for the great collapse. It wasn’t socialism, it was Trump and our country being too white’s fault. We collapsed because we didn’t go full socialism sooner will be how it will spin.

Didn't start any new wars is a plus? Except he did expand and intensify the old wars, launching more drone strikes and dropping more bombs than before. So basically, instead of moving on to new and different killing fields he just killed more people within the already existing ones. Doesn't seem all that positive to me.

Unfortunately, most of his district (just to the West of me) mostly votes only partisan. He lost many supporters simply for breaking away from the Republicans. I wish people would wake up and research their candidates before voting, but unfortunately most will be bitching about a policy put out by the Ds and then be in full support defending that same policy if it is put out by an R. Evidence being Trump. I appreciate Amash tremendously and really hope that after he takes a couple years off of politics, that he considers running against Whitmer in 2 years. My Rep (Hookstra) is a neocon tool.

Elections are placebos. It does not matter how "fraud-proof" they are. A continent-spanning mass democracy of a third of a billion people is simply not tenable. On such a scale, the "will of the people" cannot be "represented" in any effective and non-dysfunctional way. As much as anything else, this is because "the people" are a heterogeneous mass that does not have any coherent "will" that can meaningfully be "represented."

Contrary to popular belief, the Gestapo was not the all-pervasive, omnipotent agency in German society. In Germany proper, many towns and cities had fewer than 50 official Gestapo personnel. For example, in 1939 Stettin and Frankfurt am Main only had a total of 41 Gestapo men combined. In Düsseldorf, the local Gestapo office of only 281 men were responsible for the entire Lower Rhine region, which comprised 4 million people. "V-men", as undercover Gestapo agents were known, were used to infiltrate Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) and Communist opposition groups, but this was more the exception, not the rule. The Gestapo office in Saarbrücken had 50 full-term informers in 1939. The District Office in Nuremberg, which had the responsibility for all of northern Bavaria, employed a total of 80–100 full-term informers between 1943 and 1945. The majority of Gestapo informers were not full-term informers working undercover, but were rather ordinary citizens who chose to denounce other people to the Gestapo. According to Canadian historian Robert Gellately's analysis of the local offices established, the Gestapo was—for the most part—made up of bureaucrats and clerical workers who depended upon denunciations by citizens for their information. Gellately argued that it was because of the widespread willingness of Germans to inform on each other to the Gestapo that Germany between 1933 and 1945 was a prime example of panopticism. The Gestapo—at times—was overwhelmed with denunciations and most of its time was spent sorting out the credible from the less credible denunciations. Many of the local offices were understaffed and overworked, struggling with the paper load caused by so many denunciations.

Does it matter? I've grown very fond of a quote from Gen. Chesty Puller, after finding himself surrounded at the Chosin Reservoir in Korea: "We have been searching for the enemy for some time now. He has finally revealed himself...and we are surrounded. That simplifies things. Attack in all directions."

Meh. Trump is a mercurially erratic narcissist, and whatever good or bad things he did, he did pretty much incidentally or by accident, not out of adherence to any substantive ideals or principles (good ones or bad ones), nor even out of a mere utilitarian desire to achieve some particular end (apart from the care and feeding of his own ego). The things he did that I consider "good" he seems to have done for the sake of what he (correctly or incorrectly) perceived would make him more popular (or less unpopular) outside the Cathedral. The things he did that I consider "bad" he seems to have done for the sake of what he (correctly or incorrectly) perceived would make him more popular (or less unpopular) within the Cathedral. It is likely that his self-regard blinded him to the futility of the latter endeavor - narcissism, after all, is always by its nature accompanied by some degree of naïveté.

Because I can't that's why. Congress threw two rocks at once, one at each crowd. Then Congress told both crowds, "We didn't do it! They did!" And just as Barnum said, they've been fooling some of the people all of the time ever since. You know better. Why don't you stop being part of that particular some of the people?

Democrats? Who the fuck are they? Do you mean Marxists, Bolsheviks and Jacobins? Leftist revolutionists have replaced class with race and identity. They realized that austerity for the New Soviet Man would not go far. They also realized that class warfare would not work in nation where even the dimmest wit and laziest clod could manage $500 cel phones and 72 inch LED TVs and enough for to make you physically ill. "You have nothing because 400 years of white devilry has taken it from you. Now is your time to take from them!"
