The swing states are all that matters. https://www.newsweek.com/donald-trump-poll-swing-states-joe-biden-1890829 Donald Trump is leading President Joe Biden in five of six swing states that could potentially decide who wins the 2024 election, according to a poll. An Echelon Insights survey of 2,401 registered voters, conducted for the conservative think tank The Heritage Foundation, shows that Trump is ahead of Biden in Arizona (51 percent to 45 percent), Georgia (52 percent to 42 percent), Michigan (51 percent to 45 percent), Nevada (51 percent to 44 percent) and Pennsylvania (49 percent to 45 percent). Biden is behind by 4 or more points in 5 of 6 swing states. That's a recipe for an electoral college landslide if this holds.

True. Kennedy's willingness to give Israel a blank check gives me pause and disqualifies him as a true "America Firster." Of course I can't think of a single person running this year I agree with on foreign policy except possibly Cornell West. (He's against aid to Israel and Ukraine.) But Dr. West loses me in his blind support of the Fauci COVID policy among other things. It's just refreshing to see SOMEBODY hitting Trump on these issues. I don't recall any of the GOP candidates calling him out of this crap. Nikki Haley certainly couldn't because she was part of the swamp.

FFS I don't "hate" you. It's called a disagreement...in America that's still allowed. I just don't think that plan would work. Maybe I'm wrong. YMMV And Carter still managed to pull off some bad stunts, like not backing out of the Panama Canal treaty which has now, 50 years later, allowed the Chinese to buy up critical infrastructure in the canal zone.

You've got DECADES of significant decreases in deaths with regards to VMT combined with a small blip of an increase and you're ignoring all other factors other than immigration such as distracted driving. https://martinhelms.com/blog/why-are-americas-roads-so-dangerous/#:~:text=From%202020%20to%202021%2C%20the,approximately%2016%2C500%20wrecks%20per%20day. Again, most of the people immigrating to America are coming from countries who drivers are as safe or safer than white American drivers. And you still haven't explained why you ignored black countries who have driving safety records as good as the best white countries.

A beautiful story to accompany a beautiful piece. The proper work at the proper time can pierce the soul and, to quote F. Murray Abraham: "these were compositions from a trained monkey. This was God, speaking directly to me, through those measured half notes." Do you know the story being told in this opera?

I do not expect to get better results or different results than 2016-2020. Right now I'll settle for no wars, some regulation relief, and transqueeers not running around naked on the White House lawn, and just another day to try and get my fellows citizens off their collective asses and do something. At this rate, if nothing changes, we'll all be silenced or in prison in another four years.

In 2012 there were 1.14 people killed per 100 million VMT. The estimated fatality rate for 2023 is 1.26. 1.14 is more than 1.26. Yes, it has fallen from 2022 rate, and I already noted that. Come back and call me an asshole in five years, if those trends continue.

There's no disputing that Kennedy is correct here. Trump did all those things and more, furthermore, for supposedly being this ace business man who knows how to build winning teams and appoint quality subordinates, he is one of the worst I have ever seen. That said, even though he may be attacking "from the right", Kennedy is no conservative, populist, or an "American Firster". I do not need a "leader", what I need is a representative, a mouthpiece. I know what needs to be done in my life and the life of my country.

That is where your error is. Just because there are more people, does not mean there are more drivers. In fact, licensed drivers have decreased at times, even as the population grows. There were a total of 228,195,802 licensed drivers in the US in 2020, a decrease of 0.21% or 483,917 licensed drivers from 2019. By 2023 estimated growth grew again, but only by 2 percent.

Using per capita is an inaccurate way of measuring fatalities or accidents. We have more people in the country, but more and more do not drive, especially young people. You measure them the same way you measure air traffic or rail fatalities, by miles traveled. But my source, wiki collecting NTSB data, directly contradicts yours. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motor_vehicle_fatality_rate_in_U.S._by_year

Interesting. I found this: https://www.medpagetoday.com/special-reports/exclusives/91423 In their letter to UCLA, Perez and Cesena strongly objected to the idea that such brain imaging -- capturing the neurological response of gender dysphoria -- could provide any scientific data that could "help" trans people in the future. "It is suggestive of a search for medical 'cure,' which can open the door for more gatekeeping and restrictive policies and practices in relation to access to gender-affirming care," the letter stated. Feusner and Savic-Berglund, however, explained that "by demonstrating that body-self incongruence was linked to brain structure and function, we aimed to help provide a biological basis and increase empathy for the life stories of transgender individuals. From the beginning, the aim was to help increase acceptance of transgender individuals."

LOL. Everyone knows all of those allegations are factual. Hell, William Barr is one of the worse swamp critters ever. The deficit did go through the roof. Trump attacked Thomas Massie for trying to hold things in check. Trump tweeted AGAINST Florida and Georgia opening as soon as they did. And on top of that there's the bumpfire stock ban by executive order, the pushing for an assault weapons ban in 2002 and 2018, and the push for "take the guns first and then have due process" red flag laws.

music director at the Catholic Church I went to removed all references to God as he and used gender neutral terms instead. Two priest did nothing about it. In the Orthodox Churches that I've gone to not just the priest and bishops would not have put up with that, but neither would the congregation. The reason the Orthodox is Orthodox world wide despite separation by land, language and nationalities is that the congregation wants to be Orthodox.

BTW, these are some generalities. I've been to some good Catholic Churches and luke warm Orthodox Churches but I've found Orthodoxy a lot more consistent but oddly, less rigid at the same time.

I found there is less of a tendency for people to ask favors in prayer and more to accept God's will and his mercies.

From my understanding, the roots of the schism go back to Augustine. He was a Latin speaking lawyer who didn’t read the Greek of the Desert Fathers. Luther and many other reformers were heavily influenced by his writings as well as Thomas Aquinas.

Also when refering to the teachings of The Church, Catholics tend to see them as coming from the Pope and Cardinals. The Orthodox see The Church as a consensus of everyone from the Fathers to all the Orthodox today led by the Holy Spirit of course. One thing that led me away from the RCC was the

2 Peter 1:1-11 is our view of Salvation. Yes we are predestined and were are also told to make every effort to confirm our election, so I see it as a mix of Calvinism and RCC. After the schism the Western Churches got hung up on different on bits and pieces of scripture and couldn’t focus on the whole of it. Hell’s Unicorn described Orthodoxy view on soteriology as “primitive.” I couldn’t argue with that. The icons are our family album. The Orthodox way of venerating them is no different than the way we greet each other at Church because we are made in His image. Sometimes I think Orthodox tend to argue too much like Catholics, IMO.

I found there is less of a tendency for people to ask favors in prayer and more to accept God's will and his mercies.

Here's a quick rundown: This is my understanding of the differences between RCs and EOCs. The EOC’s interpretations of scripture takes its roots from the Desert Fathers from the 1st few centuries. There is less of a legalistic and more mystical take. God is not narrowed down to judge, brother, creator etc. He is all that at once. John the Evangelist who reclined his head on Jesus’ chest at the Last Supper, fell to his face in awe and worship in his vision in the Book of Revelation.

Fasting and works are not to fulfil a penance, it is to be closer to God (Actually your questioning about fasting led me to Orthodoxy from the RCC) My understanding of salvation is that I am saved, and my works are to unite me with God-- more to bend my will towards God's.

Sola was the first to point out that he was definitely not an antinomianism. It's funny. It still took me a year to get that in my head. Erowe1 gave the best description of FA. I disagreed only on a technicality. That's when I dropped out of the arguments.

I was an atheist, then RC, and now EOC. The discussions here helped lead me to the EOC. My first intro to Faith Alone was fellow Marines who had sex with anything and said they were save by FA. That's how I argued it. I think what finally got to me was when some RCs were trying to say the good thief was saved by an act of faith because they didn't want to say he was saved by faith. It wasgrace through faith, and that would have saved me hundred of argumentative posts.

I'm Done

by Christian Liberty on 07-27-2013 at 06:53 PM
I'm so sick of seeing "Support our troops" or even worse "Fighting for our freedoms."

During a trip to Word of Life for a week of camp I saw a bumper sticker that said "God bless our troops, especially our snipers."

Usually, when trying to prove a point about war, I don't discuss the troops. I'll probably continue to do this. One teacher I had was open minded to listening to what I had to say about war, but had a father who had served in
