Going down the EBT high balance rabbit hole I found this story that doesn't seem to be related to immigraiton: https://web.archive.org/web/20210125011903/https://www.bostonherald.com/2013/05/30/next-scandal-platinum-ebt-cards/ Next scandal: Platinum EBT cards RECORDS REQUEST: A receipt showing a hefty EBT card balance, right, has sparked a records request from the state. Above is the keeper of public records in the state, Secretary of State William Galvin.

As Anti Federalist pointed out, during the Trump years the number of immigrants from Ukraine were less than 10,000. Now it's over 217,000. The difference is not the amount of welfare. The difference is (drumroll please) U.S. foreign policy which destabilized their country! If the welfare state was reduced to nothing, people would still be streaming into the U.S. because of how the U.S. has for over 100 years destablizied Haiti, for the past few decades destablized Venezuela, and for the past few years destablized Ukraine. So until we stop screwing over other people countries it's not going to slow the mass migration numbers. That said, there SHOULD be limits on welfare especially for migrants and people SHOULD investigate if the stories are true. From what I can find so far refugees are granted cash assistance both that the federal and the state level, but I can't find how anyone would end up with $30,000 on an EBT card. https://www.acf.hhs.gov/sites/default/files/documents/orr/orr_asylee_fact_sheet.pdf https://www.dshs.wa.gov/esa/community-services-offices/refugee-cash-assistance#:~:text=To%20be%20eligible%20for%20the,would%20no%20longer%20receive%20RCA. So...why aren't Trump and J.D. Vance talking about ^that? Why isn't anybody talking about that?

So....I read the whole thing. It's got headers so its easy to find the part talking about the welfare state. Here it is: The welfare state and liberty What about the old right-wing canard that you can’t have open borders with a welfare state? It’s wrongheaded. Of course, you can have both. Sure, it might mean the payment of higher taxes, but is that any reason to abandon one’s principles and, in the process, inflict harm on all the people who are not coming to get on welfare? Moreover, keep in mind that both right-wingers and left-wingers favor a welfare state. So they’re saying that advocates of liberty should join them in their support of immigration socialism until the right-wing, left-wing welfare state is dismantled, which might be never. Instead of destroying the freedom that comes with open borders, how about devoting our efforts to dismantling the right-wing, left-wing welfare state? In the meantime, if right-wingers and left-wingers choose to give welfare to foreigners, let’s not be duped into joining them in their wrongdoing. Let’s just continue trying to end their wrongdoing. And make no mistake about it: open borders is not just about bringing an end to death, suffering, rapes, kidnappings, deportations, a Berlin Wall, and a massive police state. Most important, open borders is about liberty. As Thomas Jefferson pointed out in the Declaration of Independence, everyone — not just Americans — has been endowed by nature and God with such fundamental rights as life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. That’s precisely what most people are doing when they cross political borders — they are trying to sustain their life with labor, entering into mutually agreeable arrangements with others, and pursuing happiness in their own way.

Great idea! He's proposed it before as I recall. And.....it's not going to pass. But he's doing a good job positioning himself to run in 2028. He still hasn't endorsed Trump. I see Rand Paul commercial on YouTube as much as I see Trump and Kamala Harris. And he's proposing something that has about as much chance of passing as he has of winning the presidency. In fact I'd say he has a better chance of winning the presidency than he does getting this through congress as a sitting senator.

It's easy to find videos of cell phone batteries exploding like the one I posted earlier in this thread. But everyone I've seen 1) had large flames coming out and 2) had more explosive force. From the reports of what recently happened people were losing limbs from this attack and none of the explosions I've seen from this attack were accompanied by flames.

Pay to defend themselves? That's not what happened. They were given $391 million to buy weapons by Trump and they used that money to buy the weapons from American companies. https://www.defensenews.com/congress/2019/09/25/what-you-need-to-know-about-the-us-aid-package-to-ukraine-that-trump-delayed/ So no. Ukraine wasn't "paying to defend itself." Trump delayed the money because he wanted Biden's corruption investigated. I agree with that delay. Biden delayed the money as a favor to Burisma, a company paying his son $80,000 a month, and that needed to be investigated. But nowhere was it in the cards that Ukraine would "pay to defend itself." I'm not sure how you came up with that nonsense.

Bollocks. The proven story of the kid who died from the bus accident was enough to get the story national attention. And whatever Trump said in the debate would get national attention. So if the only thing Trump had talked about was the bad Haitian driving and the school bus accident that still would have been getting coverage and you know it. At least you should. We had national coverage and a whole thread about the Venezuelan gang "taking over" and appartment building. And while that story turned out to be a bit exagerated, it was based in truth. Nobody was able to say "The Venezuelan gang in the video turned out to be just a regular American street gang." You just proved my point. Immigration has been a hot button issue all year. There have been national stories about immigration proven by official sources all year. The Springfiled Ohio story was already a national story because of the 11 year old killed in the bus accident. Trump could have talked about that during the debate and J.D. Vance could have talked aboiut it on the morning news shows without looking dishonest. But nope. J.D. Vance doubled down on a disproven video. It was a stupid tactic, but you're such a cultist you can't bring yourself to admit it.

dannno ^that is an example of the sources I use. So unless you think a Republican Trump supporter is somehow "left-wing propaganda", you owe me an apology. But you can keep the apology that I know I won't be getting from you anyway. Watch this video all the way through before responding. At the beginning of it he takes the exact same position I do on the cat eating which is, so far, there's no actual substatiated evidence that's been brought forward for that. But then he goes through all of the actual real problems that have occured from industry deciding to specifically reach out to migrants to come work in new or revitalized factories rather than offer the jobs to locals who've now become drug addicted and unreliabile. He talks about the accident issues and the costs of language translation and everything else. It's not "left wing" to stick with the facts.

Sounds like your projecting your own feelings into others a tiny bit. Or maybe you and PAF have different definitions of "hatred." Moses at times had utter contempt for the children of Israel but then asked to die the second death when God decided to call Moses' bluff when Moses' muttered "God damn them" under his breath one to many times and God threatened to wipe them Hebrews out and start over with Moses. I doubt anybody here wants most of our fellow humans to die, even the ones who get on our last nerves by clinging to stupidity with every ounce and fiber of their beings as if, like Terrance Howard, they can make 1 times 1 = 2 if they just argue for it passionately enough. It's like this stupid ass cat eating story which there has yet to be any shred of actual evidence put forward in this long ass thread to back it up. I'm not talking about video of a barbeque somewhere of someone eating something. I'm not talking video of people saying "So and so told me that they saw their cat being eaten by a Haitian" (heresay). I'm talking direct, first hand evidence. And if you challenge people on that they get defensive and make accusations of the type belonging to someone who litterally drank the kool-aid. People are so far gone down their rabbit holes that they can no longer see the light. And that's liberals too. In fact they are the worst. "J.D. Vance admitted he created the story." No he didn't. His dumb ass mispoke. (Or maybe he's trying to sabotague Trump who knows). But that's one extreme. Thats what actual leftists are saying. Then the adlte brained on the right are like "There was a police report that a neighbor ate a cat and that neighbor must have been Hatian even though I don't have the actual police report to prove it." And you know what? Sometimes things are obviously true and you don't have the evidence to prove it. And.....that's okay. Twenty three years ago two planes knocked down three buildings. One of those buildings had previously surviving a bombing by an FBI informant. Do I have the evidence to prove that another FBI informant got it right on 9/11? No I do not. Do I have evidence to suggest that it happened? Absolutely! My acceptance of the limitations of the evidence that doesn't make me a "leftist" or someone who believes the mainstream media that I no longer even watch. But some addle brained people, who are sooooo caught up in their echo chamber that they can't fathom how other people still demand facts would think so. Anyhow, the first time I heard the word "statist" was on this forum and it was used as a perjorative. I think I first saw angelatc (still in self imposed exile) use the term. You may or may not have used the term. But I've long been under the impression that most people here don't like the state...at least it is until they do. My own view is the state is a means to an end. It's a temporary s1 Samuel 8:4-7 4 So all the elders of Israel gathered together and came to Samuel at Ramah. 5 They said to him, “You are old, and your sons do not follow your ways; now appoint a king to lead us, such as all the other nations have.” 6 But when they said, “Give us a king to lead us,” this displeased Samuel; so he prayed to the Lord. 7 And the Lord told him: “Listen to all that the people are saying to you; it is not you they have rejected, but they have rejected me as their king. Judges 21:25 In those days Israel had no king; everyone did as they saw fit. Isn't it funny that the same Bible that on the one hand makes it sound like Israel was in chaos for lack of a king also says that wanting a king was rejection of God? Yes there should be order, but what should be the source of that order? Is this leftist right in the video below? Is libertarianism really a lie? Do you really need a town mayor and city council and paid police force for people to decide that they need bear proof garbage cans and maybe it's okay to shoot the bears if they actually come...

No I'm not. I can pull up numerous posts you have made, expressing your contempt and hatred towards most of the people of this country, for their support of what you see as a tyrannical status quo. I hear ya brother, and I happen to agree for the most part. But also, as an anarchist, you do not believe in nor support the concept of a nation. Correct me if I'm wrong, but you want to see the entire structure and concept, both as a real thing and an abstract idea, burned to the ground.

Great! Please post the actual police report and while you're at it send it to J.D. Vance. No authentication of the where the video was from or what was actually being BBQ'd but anyway. Also Africa is not Haiti and Dayton is not Springfield. Do you have a problem with reading comprehension? Serious question. You're responding to a post by me where I pointed out that there were confirmed reports (as in actual arrests) of people eating cats but they turned out to be Americans.

So....just to be clear there were two confirmed cases reported in this thread of people eating pets in or near Springfield Ohio. One was a black woman (not Hatian) in Canton and the other was a white man (again not Hatian) in Springfield. From your story the word "Haitian" is missing. Maybe this lady's neighbor was Haitian? I dunno.

music director at the Catholic Church I went to removed all references to God as he and used gender neutral terms instead. Two priest did nothing about it. In the Orthodox Churches that I've gone to not just the priest and bishops would not have put up with that, but neither would the congregation. The reason the Orthodox is Orthodox world wide despite separation by land, language and nationalities is that the congregation wants to be Orthodox.

BTW, these are some generalities. I've been to some good Catholic Churches and luke warm Orthodox Churches but I've found Orthodoxy a lot more consistent but oddly, less rigid at the same time.

I found there is less of a tendency for people to ask favors in prayer and more to accept God's will and his mercies.

From my understanding, the roots of the schism go back to Augustine. He was a Latin speaking lawyer who didn’t read the Greek of the Desert Fathers. Luther and many other reformers were heavily influenced by his writings as well as Thomas Aquinas.

Also when refering to the teachings of The Church, Catholics tend to see them as coming from the Pope and Cardinals. The Orthodox see The Church as a consensus of everyone from the Fathers to all the Orthodox today led by the Holy Spirit of course. One thing that led me away from the RCC was the

2 Peter 1:1-11 is our view of Salvation. Yes we are predestined and were are also told to make every effort to confirm our election, so I see it as a mix of Calvinism and RCC. After the schism the Western Churches got hung up on different on bits and pieces of scripture and couldn’t focus on the whole of it. Hell’s Unicorn described Orthodoxy view on soteriology as “primitive.” I couldn’t argue with that. The icons are our family album. The Orthodox way of venerating them is no different than the way we greet each other at Church because we are made in His image. Sometimes I think Orthodox tend to argue too much like Catholics, IMO.

I found there is less of a tendency for people to ask favors in prayer and more to accept God's will and his mercies.

Here's a quick rundown: This is my understanding of the differences between RCs and EOCs. The EOC’s interpretations of scripture takes its roots from the Desert Fathers from the 1st few centuries. There is less of a legalistic and more mystical take. God is not narrowed down to judge, brother, creator etc. He is all that at once. John the Evangelist who reclined his head on Jesus’ chest at the Last Supper, fell to his face in awe and worship in his vision in the Book of Revelation.

Fasting and works are not to fulfil a penance, it is to be closer to God (Actually your questioning about fasting led me to Orthodoxy from the RCC) My understanding of salvation is that I am saved, and my works are to unite me with God-- more to bend my will towards God's.

Sola was the first to point out that he was definitely not an antinomianism. It's funny. It still took me a year to get that in my head. Erowe1 gave the best description of FA. I disagreed only on a technicality. That's when I dropped out of the arguments.

I was an atheist, then RC, and now EOC. The discussions here helped lead me to the EOC. My first intro to Faith Alone was fellow Marines who had sex with anything and said they were save by FA. That's how I argued it. I think what finally got to me was when some RCs were trying to say the good thief was saved by an act of faith because they didn't want to say he was saved by faith. It wasgrace through faith, and that would have saved me hundred of argumentative posts.

I'm Done

I'm so sick of seeing "Support our troops" or even worse "Fighting for our freedoms."

During a trip to Word of Life for a week of camp I saw a bumper sticker that said "God bless our troops, especially our snipers."

Usually, when trying to prove a point about war, I don't discuss the troops. I'll probably continue to do this. One teacher I had was open minded to listening to what I had to say about war, but had a father who had served in
