btw; Here's a searchable directory of Greek Orthodox churches in the US-http://www.goarch.org/en/parishes/ Call or ask a priest at a parish near you about anything you want to know about Orthdoxy. Priests are normally open to making appointments for inquirers. Orthodox churches normally also have bible study classes for Catechumen and people generally. You can attend these for lectures and ask questions. (also see your local phone book if you can't find a parish near you on the above site or perhaps call any parish and they may be able to help you find one near you)

Apostolic succession is what distinguishes a Church from a building where worship takes place. Another example-The Church takes seriously what Christ said about Eucharist to the apostles-that it is the literal body and blood of Christ. To heterodox, it is just a symbol. This is why the Orthodox and Catholics have closed communion-unlike any of the thousands of protestant churches where anyone can get some unleavened bread and grape juice.

Why do you keep saying it's "non-Christian"? You do realize that's bullshit, don't you? Orthodoxy is the oldest and best-documented Apostolic Church in existence. I thought you were just trolling when you said that nonsense on the forums. You are truly deluded, kiddo. Do you know that your "church" is just a Worship Community with many of the trappings of a Church? If you want to prove it to yourself, go ask your minister to show you an apostolic lineage chart. A real church's priest will have a lineage chart going from the apostles down to himself ~2 millenia later. A worship community's minister will typically have a doctorate and a few other degrees at best.

Amazon's reviewers have done some nice reviews of the aforementioned book you can read: http://www.amazon.com/Orthodoxy-Hete...DateDescending

Actually, I do deeply believe the Gospels. I just don't believe in The Gospel According to FreedomFanatic, which is all you have offered in the forums. Aside from direct quotes from scripture, you have no truly Christian things to say (that I've seen). "Orthodoxy And Heterodoxy" is not long. Only 183 pages, plus appendices (prited version). It would also be wise of you to attend a bible study class at your local orthodox church or bring your questions to a priest. ~hugs~

  7. I think you mentioned it when I was threatening to leave here....but I never got around to reading it. I promise I will though! I just looked at it and it looks like you've got a lot there...you've been busy!

A "Church Of Christ"-it's a name commonly used by Baptists. What makes you think your Church gets the Gospel right? By your own standard? Why would you believe your mind-not only fallible but far removed from the apostolic tradition. You know, if you really are serious about the Baptist doctrine, you regard baptism and "The Lord's Supper" as "ordinances" commanded by Christ but not contributing to salvation. This is not biblical. I really don't see much to the Baptist denomination that actually is biblical. Fortunately, many people converting to Orthodoxy at this point in history come from the Radical Reformation (like Baptists). I have hope for you yet, and will pray for you. ~hugs~

I went to a Baptist Church-Mulberry Church of Christ (and was baptized there) in my very early teens. It was only in recent years after much reading and contemplation that I realized that the Baptists are wrong on a great number of things. Most important, the Baptists lack the sound theology, faith, and reason of the ancient, Apostolic church. The Baptists also lack "Fullness Of Faith"-a term coined several centuries back, IIRC. Damick goes into good detail about what the Baptists got right and wrong in "Orthodoxy and Heterodoxy: Exploring Belief Systems Through the Lens of the Anchient Christian Faith". That book has almost 2 pages describing common ground between our faiths in addition to 2 explaining its history and why it falls short (the book is neither an apologia nor a "weapon"-just a description of perspective).

This may be of interest to you: http://orthodoxinfo.com/ The Orthodox Christian information center has info about pretty much anything related to Orthodoxy you can imagine.

I'm Done

by Christian Liberty on 07-27-2013 at 06:53 PM
I'm so sick of seeing "Support our troops" or even worse "Fighting for our freedoms."

During a trip to Word of Life for a week of camp I saw a bumper sticker that said "God bless our troops, especially our snipers."

Usually, when trying to prove a point about war, I don't discuss the troops. I'll probably continue to do this. One teacher I had was open minded to listening to what I had to say about war, but had a father who had served in
