By Patrick J. Buchanan August 21, 2019 Friday, President Donald Trump met in New Jersey with his national security advisers and envoy Zalmay Khalilzad, who is negotiating with the Taliban to bring about peace, and a U.S. withdrawal from America’s longest war. U.S. troops have been fighting in Afghanistan since 2001, in a war that has cost 2,400 American lives. Following the meeting, Trump tweeted, “Many on the opposite sides of this 19 year war, and us, are looking to make a deal — if possible!”

Fantastic book, btw, I still look it over from time to time. The only book I have not read yet is Swords into Plowshares, I have been meaning to pick up a copy.

August 21, 2019 • Robert P. Murphy A recent article in the Guardian trumpeted the findings of a new study published in Science that found massive tree planting would be — by far — the cheapest and most effective approach to mitigating climate change. Ironically, the new thinking shows the pitfalls of political approaches to combating so-called “negative externalities.” The good news about tree planting disrupts the familiar narrative about carbon taxes that even professional economists have been feeding the public for years. The whole episode is an example of what Ronald Coase warned about, in his classic 1960 article showing the danger in the traditional approach of using taxes to fix alleged market failures. Ronald Coase vs. A. C. Pigou on “Externalities” Coase’s “The Problem of Social Cost” is one of the most frequently cited economics articles of all time, but it can be difficult for a newcomer to absorb its lessons. In this revolutionary piece, Coase challenged the standard approach to externalities that had been developed by economist A. C. Pigou.

08/21/2019 • Chris Calton When Paul Hayes was arrested in Kentucky for writing a fraudulent check, he faced his third felony charge. At the time, Kentucky had a law in effect known as the Habitual Criminal Act, which imposed a life sentence for any third-time felony conviction. The prosecutor in the case, however, was at liberty to decide whether or not to charge Hayes under the Habitual Criminal Act. He offered Hayes a deal: either plead guilty and accept a five-year sentence, or go to trial and risk life in prison. Hayes rolled the dice on a jury trial and lost. But he appealed on the grounds that the wide disparity between the plea deal and the threatened sentence for a jury trial violated his rights to due process. The case went to the Supreme Court, where Hayes lost again. The disparity in charges between plea bargains and trials were irrelevant; as long as the facts fit the case, prosecutors can pursue whatever charges they like. Bordenkircher v. Hayes, as the case is known, reveals a great deal about our criminal justice system. Most importantly, it demonstrates how the legal system enables and encourages unhealthy prosecutorial practices. Incarceration rates have skyrocketed since the 1970s, and that trend has continued even as rates of violent and property crimes have fallen substantially.1 The drug war explains the rise in arrests for non-violent crime, of course, but even drug laws fail to explain prosecutorial trends.

By Llewellyn H. Rockwell, Jr. August 20, 2019 Writes Atilla Sulker: “Happy 78th birthday to my dear friend and mentor, Dr. Walter Block! I first began emailing Dr. Block in June of 2018, and met him for the first time at the Mises Institute, in Auburn, Alabama, last year. Since then, Dr. Block has been an inspiration to me, both in the realm of scholarship, and the broad brushstroke of life. His desire to not only stretch, but completely redraw the boundaries instantly caught my attention. Dr. Block comes up with ideas that may seem “crazy” at the superficial level, but upon further examination, they are borderline genius. His methodology in creating ideas is something that I have adopted myself- come up with the craziest ideas, then logically distill them until you have something of substance. Dr. Block continues to produce prolific amounts of literature all the time, all very fascinating to read. Check out his massive archives here!” https://www.lewrockwell.com/political-theatre/happy-a-birthday-dr-walter-block/

By David Stockman August 21, 2019 You would never know that the GOP won the last presidential election based on what emanates from the vocal chords of the Trumpian inner circle and the keyboard of its top banana. This stuff is just plain politicized economics, statist pretense and Keynesian hogwash. The Donald’s keyboard is bad enough. Still, after a lifetime as a leveraged real estate speculator who apparently skipped Econ 101, why would he know any better? But chief trade advisor, Peter Navarro, who supposedly has credentials, showed this weekend exactly what flavor of statist economics now reigns in the White House: “I can tell you with certainty… we’re going to have a strong economy through 2020 and beyond with a bull market,” he told ABC News in an interview on Sunday morning. “The Fed will be lowering rates. The ECB will be engaging in monetary stimulus. China will be engaging in fiscal stimulus.”

I crossed the Canadian border with the flu and a few Canadians caught it from me. I am sure glad they didn’t consider me life below maggot and threaten to kill Americans on sight. Who knows what strain I had, I didn’t get vaccinated from the medical industrial complex, certainly not when Romney I mean Obamacare went into effect.

Yes. For starters, Trump is a life-long shill for Eminent Domain, which Ron Paul clearly is not: Snip: It is not only Libertarians who value Private Property and Contracts Rights, but also always part of the Republican Platform... until Neocon entered the mix.

I am a volunteerist, just like this guy, who explains everything in detail where Ron and Walter Block have not taken the time to do so. I am pretty confident that any change in policy that Ron and Walter would advocate would encompass what is contained in the video. It is an extremely tough pill for people filled with nothing but hate, but so is standing for each and every Bill of Right among those who do not care about them. I do pick my battles very wisely, which is why I stay out of trouble and still effective at the same time. Libertarian is a philosophy, Agorist is the practical approach to applying Libertarianism on a day to day basis.

“Permits” do not ensure that people burn safely - personal responsibility does that. “Permits” do not pay the damage if smoke enters your next door neighbors house - you/insurance does that. If the “permit” is to only burn logs on Saturday but the bonfire for the kids birthday is on Sunday, why did my relative deserve to be fined by the government when no damage has occurred? Do you support gun permits, perhaps for open carry, since the fire-arm is exposed? Do you support the NRA, or the GOA? Great video, btw. When I told Ron about the burn permit thing, he got a pretty good chuckle out of it. Not that I was asking permission, because I wasn’t ;-)

What I find very disappointing and completely repulsive is the fact that many of us agree on most issues, but one single issue where I disagree, and advocate Private Property Rights and alternative fiscally responsible solutions, has a handful of members spew complete and utter hatred and Negative Reps every post that I make. Is that what Ron Paul, or you for that matter would promote, in order to achieve peace through prosperity, and bringing people together?

Hmm, quite the dilemma, isn’t it. I guess restrictionism, which many here advocate and Ron Paul objects to, is the logical way to go then. I see your point, and finally beginning to come around. I am therefore also becoming a war advocate, because that sleazy democrat Dennis Kucinich is opposed to it. Does anybody on this revamped RPF support Free Market principles anymore? Since around 2012, give/take, this place did a complete 180, evident by many of the originals no longer participate anymore. Rod Serling, are you lurking?

Prof. Ben Powell addresses most, if not all issues regarding immigration that have been raised on RonPaulForums. If you are in fact an advocate of Freedom, Liberty and Fiscal Responsibility, Ben Powell knocks it out of the park. Prof. Ben Powell debunks the following three popular myths about immigration: 1) Immigrants are a net drag on our economy 2) Immigrants steal our jobs 3) Immigrants depress our wages Additionally, Professor Ben Powell examines how immigration is related to Foreign Aid, Prosperity, Property Rights, Crime, Welfare, Voting, Citizenship, and more.

Ron Paul Institute August 20, 2019 written by jacob g. hornberger Democratic Congresswomen Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib are calling on the US Congress to reevaluate US foreign aid to the Israeli government. Their reason? Israel’s prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, denied entry into Israel for the two of them, owing to their public support of the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions movement, a global protest against the Israeli government’s longtime mistreatment of Palestinians. Omar stated:

I have not purchased a “burning permit” for years. Some of my neighbors don’t anymore either. It is amazing how that is no longer enforced like they used to be. Perhaps they have become afraid they will lose votes. Do you think Ron would object to that? http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?538265-Being-Precise-About-The-Meaning-of-Liberty

RonPaulLibertyReport August 20, 2019 by Chris Rossini We live in an age where many individuals are becoming increasingly hostile to truth, facts and reality. The meaning of words are often twisted and language is routinely corrupted. Many believe that by taking thought, they can add one cubit to their stature. If they think it --- and it feels good to think it --- then regardless of the truth, it becomes their law.

No person or property has been harmed during exercising my freedom - no donations requested/required. And here you are referencing somebody who advocates “shoot to kill” on sight - on RonPaulForums to boot. Though I hope AF is only expressing frustration and not a course of action.

The man who produces while others dispose of his product, is a slave.”
