Sanctuary Cities and the Rule of Law by Judge Andrew Napolitano Earlier this week, the Trump Department of Justice told the mayor of Chicago that it would cease funding grants to the Chicago Police Department that had been approved in the Obama administration because Chicago city officials were not cooperating with federal immigration officials. The DOJ contended that Chicago officials were contributing to lawlessness by refusing to inform the feds of the whereabouts of undocumented foreign-born people, thereby creating what the feds derisively call a "sanctuary city," and Chicago officials have argued that their police officers and clerical folks are not obligated to work for the feds.

Are We Really Free? Written by John Larabell April 04, 2019 The Free Society, by Laurence M. Vance: Orlando, Vance Publications, 2018, 468 pages, paperback. Americans often boast that they live in a free country. Our national anthem says we live in the “land of the free,” and another popular patriotic song contains the line, “at least I know I’m free.” But how free are we really? According to conservative Christian libertarian writer Laurence M. Vance in his latest book, The Free Society, Americans live in a “relatively free” society. As Vance notes in the summary of the book on the back cover,

April 11, 2019 The Israeli team SpaceIL will attempt to land the country's first moon lander, called Beresheet, on the Sea of Serenity on the moon and you can watch it live today, courtesy of a SpaceIL webcast. The webcast will begin at 2:45 p.m. EDT (1845 GMT), with Beresheet's landing expected for some time between 3 and 4 p.m. EDT (1900-2000 GMT). Beresheet is a $100 million privately developed lander originally developed by SpaceIL to compete in the $30 million Google Lunar X Prize, an international contest that ended in 2018 with no winners. SpaceIL teamed up with Israel Aerospace Industries to continue the project, leading to today's landing attempt. SpaceIL is controlling Beresheet from a control center in Yehud, Israel. The spaceraft launched in February on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket and has been steadily raising its orbit to reach the moon. Last week, Beresheet successfully entered orbit around the moon.

PAF says: legislation REPUGNANT to the Bill of Rights = "may I please? If so, thank you. If not, oh shucks." Those folks better forget about stupid "legislation" and have a major 2nd A outdoor gun show instead.

By Daisy Luther The Organic Prepper April 11, 2019 A new gun control bill introduced in the Oregon State Legislature added 45 pages of draconian amendments the night before the vote. SB978 passed the Judiciary Committee yesterday and now heads to the Oregon Senate. It’s a good thing that some parts of this state have vowed to be 2A sanctuaries because Oregonians are going to need them. If the gun owners – and even pepper spray owners – in other parts of the state hope to defend themselves, they could be facing a vast new array of felony charges. The battle for the right to bear arms is rapidly spreading across the country. In February, the House of Representatives passed two sweeping national bills. New Mexico has passed 6 outrageous new laws that sheriffs are refusing to enforce, and sheriffs in Washington state are also rebelling. On the other stand, two states have introduced invasive laws requiring would-be gun owners to hand over access to years of personal social media.

I’m standing outside and some do-gooder says “hey, can’t you read, there’s a sign over there that says no smoking”. So I take a drag and say “thanks for the info”. There’s a few biker bars I go to that allow smoking inside, fortunately they got great wings.

Including some on this board. Which is why we need to endorse the site mission and change the tone in this country. Welfare is bad, freedom to travel freely, right to private property and retaining and not disrupting companies which employ people are good.

Anything other than the Constitution are nothing but ordinances and statutes. For too long people have referred to them as laws which they aren’t. Under Natural Rights, why would I give a flip about good “laws” or bad ones? Unless I was stupid enough to voluntarily forfeit my rights to some politician by way of registration and/or “permit”. The only way it affects me is my money is stolen I mean taxed to buy toilet paper and pens.

Peduto and members of that council ran and hid during the gun rally. They think signing a piece of paper trumps the Law of the Land and we will comply lol Guns and gun owners should be like immigrants - “undocumented”.

No, I t’s just a tremendous lack of understanding. As I have said previously, liberty comes from within, which can’t be force-fed, and Natural Rights which are outlined in the Bill of Rights that can’t be legislated by way of bills, statutes or ordinances. Well, unless one voluntarily gives them up to politicians with a piece of paper and an ink pen.

Once the term "democratic" comes into play all bets are off. I also want to point out that we will never achieve a free market system. Even the slightest compromise with the greatest of intention completely destroys any chance of a true "free market" system. Such as Eminent Domain, because read my signature. Before we can ever achieve any form of freedom, free enterprise included, private property rights must be regarded higher than any other right, with the 2nd A to defend it. Until then, wishful think/blog all you want, all bets are off.

Vickie Graves explained at the time that her son was “not on drugs and did not have a weapon” Can somebody please explain to me the true purpose of the 2nd Amendment? Every article states "did not have a weapon", as if that is somehow proper and encouraged. I would love to see an article published where LEO abuses their "authority" by violating our Bill of Rights, only to be put immediately down by the person being abused, or a patriotic by-stander such as husband, wife, other, who witnesses the abuse and offers to assist in upholding the Law of the Land. I figure, what would anybody have to lose if they are going to be murdered anyway? You can't learn to defend yourself 6 feet under.

Your Property Is Not Your Own By Laurence M. Vance April 9, 2019 You can shout all you want about appealing your case to the Supreme Court. Sometimes the Court will hear your case, but most of the time it won’t. Jack Phillips, the owner of Masterpiece Cakeshop in Colorado, was accused by Colorado’s Civil Rights Commission in 2013 of discriminating against a homosexual couple because he refused to bake them a cake for their wedding. An administrative law judge issued a lengthy written order finding in favor of the couple, which was affirmed by the Commission. The decision was appealed to the Colorado Court of Appeals, which affirmed the Commission’s decision in 2015. A petition for a writ of certiorari was filed with the Supreme Court in 2016, and was granted in 2017. The Court, in the case of Masterpiece Cakeshop, Ltd. v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission (2018), in a 7-2 vote, ruled in favor of Mr. Phillips because “the Commission’s actions here violated the Free Exercise Clause.”

Trump’s Signing of Huge Wilderness Bill Continues Bipartisan Clinton-Bush-Obama War on the West To the surprise of many, President Trump has signed the nation’s largest wilderness preservation legislation in a decade. In a move that has elated enviro-activists and is certain to dumbfound and anger many of his stalwart supporters, the president signed a massive package of public lands legislation that had rolled together more than 100 individual bills that were pet projects of a bipartisan array of more than 50 U.S. Senate and House members. Among the big ticket items in the mammoth bill — and sure to be the most controversial — is the designation of 375,000 new acres of wilderness across Utah, California, New Mexico, and Oregon. Moreover, the newly enacted legislation provides a grab bag of goodies for just about everyone, with new and expanded national parks, scenic areas, wild and scenic rivers, scenic trails, historical sites, heritage areas, monuments, battlefields, and much more in Georgia, Tennessee, Missouri, Arizona, Mississippi, Alaska, New York, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, South Dakota, South Carolina, and other states. The bill passed the Senate on February 12 by a vote of 92 to 8 and the House of Representatives on February 26 by a vote of 363 to 62. It was signed by President Trump without comment on March 12. Originally titled the National Resources Management Act, the bipartisan bill (S. 47) was renamed the John D. Dingell Jr. Conservation, Management and Recreation Act in honor of Rep. Dingell (D-Mich.), who died in February at the age of 92. He is the longest-serving member of Congress in American history, serving as representative of Michigan’s 12th, 15th, or 16th districts from 1955-2015. A liberal-left Democrat, Dingell earned only a cumulative 22 percent constitutional rating on The New American’s Freedom Index. The bill, which prohibits logging, mining, drilling, road construction, and other activities on hundreds of thousands of acres of newly designated “public lands,” conflicts sharply with the pledges by Candidate Trump to reverse the trend of the Clinton-Bush-Obama legacies of federal land grabs, locking up our natural resources, and restricting human access to public lands.

“The likely impact of the USMCA on the U.S. cattle industry will be substantial, and will be substantially negative,” predicted Bill Bullard of the R-CALF USA. R-CALF USA filed its final submission to the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) this week, in an effort to ensure that the ITC’s report to President Trump and Congress will accurately describe the likely impacts of USMCA on the American cattle industry. The report of the ITC is required under a 2015 law, assessing the likely impact of the USMCA on the U.S. economy in general, and on specific sectors of the economy in particular. While Trump campaigned vigorously against NAFTA during his successful 2016 presidential run, R-CALF contends that “the USMCA adopts the same provisions in the original North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) regarding cattle and beef trade.” And those NAFTA provisions were “disastrous to independent cattle producers because they empowered multinational beef packers to indiscriminately displace domestic cattle and beef production with cheaper, undifferentiated imports of both cattle and beef,” R-CALF argued. “This has substantially weakened the U.S. live cattle supply chain and infrastructure, which has substantially reduced competition for the industry and is contributing to the hollowing out of America’s rural communities.” Rather than just make general statements, R-CALF cited very specific ways that the NAFTA agreement has harmed the U.S. cattle industry, noting that these provisions are continued under the proposed USMCA. “Twenty percent of all U.S. beef cattle operations exited the industry from 1994 to 2012,” the group said, citing the latest available census data.
