Less than 48 hours after columnist (and soon to be book author) E. Jean Carroll accused (in a New York Magazine article) Donald Trump of raping her in a dressing room in high-end department store, Bergdorf Goodman, in the 1990's, CNN had gleefully invited the accuser on to discuss the details of this horrific act from her past. Things did not go according to plan for CNN... and we suspect for Ms. Carroll's book sales. While President Trump has vehemently denied the rape took place, a sensitive Anderson Cooper welcomed the woman on to his CNN show... then things went 'full awkward'. Cooper asked Carroll, "you don't feel like a victim?" after she suggested that was the case, and things went downhill fast.

I'm in favor of giving a pension to those who fought against a military invasion or attack on the US.

“rudimentary tools” Pliars. If men weren't such, well, men, I'm sure these poor women would never have done such a thing. I have to wonder how much of this kind of thing happens these days that never see's the light of day.

Seems like, if everybody boycotted the self check systems, the store would hire more humans to do the job, and then raise the prices on everything in the store to make up the difference. As I remember, there was a time when you could go to the fuel station and get a discount if you didn't use the full service pumps. Maybe they need to just give folks a discount for using the self check machines.

In a free society, they would learn a skill. It's very cheap to learn skills at community colleges, community centers, etc. Kind of like how literally everyone who works has to retool their skill sets during paradigm shifts that are inevitable as time goes on.

This^^ The only things that can be meaningfully automated are unskilled labor. The demand for *skilled* labor is infinite and always will be-including repairing the machines that do automated tasks.

Indeed! Now that you mention it-the way modern science strongly tends to divorce the scientific method from philosophy and religion would be baffling to Aristotle and other physicists and scientists of the classical world.

Due to their love of protest, this is simply a broken clock is correct twice a day. Tomorrow, they will forget this and protest to end hate speech, the Second Amendment, or promote the sacred right for bums to deficate on a business owner's doorstep.

Interesting thread. I can see why modern physicists would take offense to this-but they unfortunately have a strong tendency to use prescriptivism, whereas the classical physicists rightly endeavored to be descriptive of the universe and thus came to proper theories and laws of physics.

Its conditioning. It teaches people to expect no human contact when buying anything. Which only pushes people online, where robots do most of the work, and hides the ugly truth of how unstable those jobs that are hidden from the public treat their employees. For example, Amazons AI that fires employees for "working too slow" despite not having a human perfect system. They are absolute crap jobs, but, they are jobs. They want people dependent on the State in order to promote the religion of Statism. "Govt will save us all." In a world where robots have stolen everyones jobs because they do them better, humans lose their dignity, value, and sense of worth to their society. They end up only able to define themselves by the garbage they buy and how poorly they treat each other. Yet another Dystopian Nightmare being brought to us and delivered by drones.

Its become pretty obvious that the elected "leaders" no longer reflect the will of the people. Or maybe they do. They all seem highly willing to trade everyone elses Rights and Liberty in exchange for Temporary Security. So what happens when the exact opposite happens? When people arent arrested just by what they say, but by what they DONT say? What happens if people are being arrested for not hating Trump enough? All these facial recognition cameras are gonna enable just that world, and everything else we cant yet even imagine. Mark my words, this will end badly beyond anyones wildest nightmares.

A few months ago, we were forced to endure a long, miserable, national conversation where a bunch of people pretended that the pro-Israel lobby group AIPAC had no influence on American politics. A new Intercept story sheds some light on just how untrue that is. More specifically, the Intercept reports about House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer’s longstanding pressure campaign to get freshmen Democrats on board with a regular congressional trip to Israel organized by his office and sponsored by AIPAC. This has been apparently going on for at least a decade, as one-term Congresswoman Mary Jo Kilroy reported that she was told that “everyone is going except for you” when she first got to Congress in 2009. “I would say that I was ‘strongly encouraged’ to take the AIPAC trip,” Kilroy told the Intercept. It gets worse. Per the Intercept (emphasis mine) Hoyer, according to former members of Congress who have resisted the pressure to join AIPAC’s delegation, uses his power over the House floor agenda to coerce participation. A member who refuses an invitation can find it difficult to have their bills brought to the floor for a vote. “His senior staff lock down cooperating members by getting their bills to the floor and punishing non-cooperators,” said one former representative who rejected the invitation. “I was tortured for a decade because I refused to go on that trip and went with J Street instead.”

I know. He went crazy (literally) on me a year ago. As for the the drunk accusation that I mentioned-- that was for people in generaI. I have more respect for someone who posts something crazy and admits to being drunk vs someone claiming to be a teetotaler. A day of drunkenness is better than a lifetime of crazy.

I got cut off in the rep message. When I ask someone if they are drunk, I am giving them the benefit of the doubt that the craziness they post is temporary they aren't insane.

That doesn't surprise me a bit. After all Matt has always been allowed to be here and they censored free speech in 2012 under the guise of appealing to Republicans.
