I'd settle in the Live Free or Die state of New Hampshire. Really, it has the most going for it now and certainly the most potential to improve. There is only one major comprehensive report comparing freedom in the 50 states. That report, Freedom in the 50 States, claims that New Hampshire is the freest state in the nation. https://www.freedominthe50states.org/ "New Hampshire is overall the freest state in the Union, combining relatively high scores on both personal and economic freedom." There is only one major report that compares economic freedom in North America. That report, Economic Freedom of North America, claims that New Hampshire has the most economic freedom in the nation. https://www.fraserinstitute.org/studies/economic-freedom-of-north-america-2016 "New Hampshire leads U.S. in economic freedom two years running; New York still the least-free state" The future looks bright in New Hampshire. New Hampshire has one of the least bad governors in the nation, and is expected to expand on cannabis freedom, school choice, reduce corporate taxes, eliminate some regulations, and more over the next two years. Plus, back several years ago, the top liberty activists in the nation got together and voted on which state makes the most sense to encourage 20,000 liberty activists to move to, to create a society with liberty in their lifetime. New Hampshire won that vote by the top liberty activists. Since then, 20,000 liberty activists signed up, triggering the 5 year move period, and already, 1,000s of liberty activists have made the move to New Hampshire, with 1,000s more expected.

Cool. Some of the footage is from New Hampshire. On Thursday of the New Hampshire Liberty Forum, the documentary will be shown. I'm going to wait until then to watch it. From the preview I saw, it looked good :)

If it isn't against state law, a city may raise or lower the drinking or smoking age. As you pointed out, towns and cities, and even liberal and conservative states across the country, have raised the age for smoking. Statewide, this doesn't appear to be a liberal vs. conservative issue. However, on a city level, it likely is mostly a liberal issue, at least for smoking. For alcohol, on the local level, it seems to be mostly a conservative issue. There are still lots of dry places around the country, and they are mostly bastions of Conservativism.

It is definitely a good thing, a very good thing - for the small businesses located near the California state border in OR, NV, and AZ :D

The whole point of the EPA is to solve or reduce pollution problems that cross state lines. In this case, it actually created the problem, and refuses to solve it. It seems there is no longer any point in the EPA. Time to follow Ron Paul's advice!

This is great news for out-of-state small business owners. It should be named the OR-NV-AZ Small Business Promotion Bill.

It wouldn't make sense for the federal government to make it illegal since seat belt use isn't required in all states. #LiveFreeorDie :D

My understanding is that both industry leaders, Google and Samsung, already sold over 5 million of their various VR headsets. Google just released a new headset and Samsung is supposed to do so later this year. VR never caused any issues for my roommate or me with our headsets. The problem with Sony not being able to sell more, is that it is producing headsets at a slow rate. I'm loving the technology, and if it only doubles the 2016 sales this year, that's fine with me.

SB12 passed a NH Senate committee yesterday. Now it goes to the full NH Senate. The vote is expected to be around 14 to 10, with all 14 Republicans expected to vote for it. This bill is on a fast track because the NH Senate leadership, NH House leadership, and the Governor all strongly support it. As written, this is the best Constitutional Carry bill in the nation. If it becomes law, it will be very obvious that NH has the best firearm laws in the nation. While the NH Senate isn't expected to amend the bill, it is possible that the NH House might amend the bill. Feel free to contact your elected officials and ask them to support and pass SB12, the Constitutional Carry bill, as written. Look up your elected officials here. http://www.gencourt.state.nh.us/ A story about SB12. http://www.guns.com/2017/01/11/new-hampshire-constitutional-carry-legislation-makes-it-out-of-committee/

This is a very close game :D Not great defense, but that's what I expect in college football. It was nice to see AL finally fall behind, if only for a couple minutes.

How many students would this effect? Perhaps half the students in the system. That's 220,000 students. How much will it cost per student? I'll go with a conservative $60,000, assuming most of the students will not finish a traditional 4.5 year degree at a university. 220,000 x 60,000 = over 13 billion dollars. NY should easily be able to afford this if it doubles state income taxes and no businesses let any employees go or relocate to a different state. Sounds like a plan   :toady: BTW, NY is already the least free state in the nationl overall and specifically for economic freedom. This might lead to NY being the least free place in North America. https://www.freedominthe50states.org/overall/new-york

I guess they don't have independent contractors in France, or I'd think millions of workers would soon be told they had to become independent contractors to counter this new regulation.

I did fix the title :) He is one of the best known libertarians in the country. I guess you could say he was a libertarian/conservative or some combination of the above. He is libertarian on economic issues, and on many social issues such as: drugs, firearms, affirmative action, etc. https://www.theadvocates.org/libertarianism-101/libertarian-celebrities/thomas-sowell/ Call Dr. Sowell libertarian or conservative. What really matters is that he did so much, far more than any of us, to explain to millions of people over decades that libertarian policies are good policies ;)

This is sad news, as it was featured in many newspapers, providing a regular libertarian perspective to millions of readers. We don't know for sure if they have the law on their side with a slam dunk case. I agree that the state law should stand. However, state or federal judges might disagree. Until this or similar laws have gone to court multiple times, we don't know. It is great that these folks volunteered to be test cases, though. They are better men than I.

I was pleasantly surprised that of the 4 sponsors, 2 are Democrats! http://www.gencourt.state.nh.us/bill_status/bill_docket.aspx?lsr=35&sy=2017&sortoption=billnumber&txtsessionyear=2017&txtbillnumber=hb84 Docket of HB84 Bill Title: relative to carrying a loaded rifle, shotgun, or crossbow in a vehicle or boat. List of sponsors is out. It has more senators as co-sponsors than any other piece of legislation. That's an excellent sign. This should sail through the senate with all 14 Republicans supporting it. Sponsors: (Prime) Sen. Jeb Bradley, Sen. Chuck Morse, Sen. Sharon Carson, Sen. Andy Sanborn, Sen. John Reagan, Sen. Regina Birdsell, Sen. Kevin Avard, Sen. Bob Giuda, Sen. James Gray, Sen. Ruth Ward, Sen. Daniel Innis, House Majority Leader Richard Hinch, Rep. Howard Pearl, Rep. Daniel Itse, Rep. James Spillane, and Rep. Michael Harrington

Good point. The Exxon/Mobil guy is a Democrat, so I'm not sure the Republicans will support him. Still, I think enough Republicans might give him a chance for him to get it. If not him, Rand Paul wanted Senator Bob Corker, a somewhat moderate/liberal Republican from TN.
