I was just thinking about Imagine versus Let it Be because it seems an inviting comparison. So I looked it up an found an intriguing article. McCartney's mother died of cancer in 1956. Paul was 14 years old. Here is an interesting passage from an article about the song: Is this song about the Virgin Mary? McCartney typically answers the question by assuring his fans that they can interpret the song however they would like. However, he is always careful to say that the literal genesis of the song was a particular event: During the final days of the Beatles, their business was in chaos caused by a bitter management dispute, and the four guys who had been close friends for years were coming unglued. One night, Paul’s mother Mary, who had passed away, appeared to him in a dream and comforted him, telling him to let go. That’s all. The article's author goes on to say: Now, be honest. Do you believe the song Let it Be is not manifestly about the Virgin Mary? The words tell us about the hour of darkness, a broken hearted world, an eternal light, and an eternal life giving wisdom. There is universality in McCartney’s longing for the answer to suffering. The Blessed Mother knows this more than anyone does.

Yeah, I agree with people here about calling the pigs unless its just for documentation. Awhile back, I wrote this long post here about my nut neighbor taking a shot at me. I'll have to dig it up, but the short story is I didn't call the pigs. My wife did, but the pigs were useless. Seems the guy's son was a pig on the same police force, so they gave me some cock & bull story. So, even from a practical point of view, calling pigs is a waste.

Wow, sorry to hear that, AF. RIP. As far as the religion thing, my mother went through something similar. She’s the only person in this world I could never figure out, but something changed her atheist (or agnostic?) beliefs in the last year of her life. She had started to get dementia, but embraced some bible verses I gave her. I was almost stunned to see that. She abruptly lost her life totally unrelated to her failing mental health, but I was happy to see her views on God and Jesus change. As far as John Lennon—yeah, that song Imagine sucks. It is odd though, because I like some songs with libtard themes. I look at words & such like this: 1. What does it say? 2. What does it mean? 3. What does it mean to me?

I thought about doing that until I saw the price to rent a small house. Like 2K a month for little 1,000 sq ft house. I'm paying 900 a month on my mortgage.

I just watched the first few minutes but that video hasn't aged well now that the Fed folded like a cheap tent and launched another round of QE.

If I could make money moving I'd be gone. I was already looking to move but going from a 3.5% rate to a 7% rate is a huge loss.

Holy crap! The fed printed 350billion this week!!! I figured it would go up by maybe 10 billion. They almost undid all the QT that they've been doing for the last year. The balance sheet might hit a new high next week. This is crazy. Get ready for all time high price inflation readings.

Yup, all good advice. Appreciate it. I need to work on my skills. I have a 22 single action revolver that I can barely remember how to shoot. I've never been in anything close to a situation like this and it's really weird. The cameras are a really good idea, if I can catch him on my property I can have him arrested. My biggest fear is he just snipes me. I'm hoping now that the banks are finally starting to collapse from the rate hikes that the fed lowers rates again, inflation be damned. That'll give me a chance to move. I'm just imagining a buyer asking about the neighborhood. "Oh yeah, the neighborhood's nice and peaceful!"

I moved into a house 3 years ago in a small town. There's a 9 foot fence separating my house from my neighbor so I almost never see him. I've talked to him a few times briefly, waved when I drive by and everything was always normal. So today I was riding my bike past his house and he was out worklng on his truck so I pulled up just to say hi. He asks me if I know what a partical beam destroyer is and I said yeah, from the movies. Then he points to a dead bush next to his house and some dead grass as if that was destroyed by this weapon. Then he starts looking at me and says I need to leave. At this point I'm totally freaked out and asking him what did I do? So he runs into his garage and comes out with a hammer and starts comming towards me saying he's going to kill me. As I was leaving I kept asking him what I did and he finally said I was from Louisville and spying on him. So I called the cops and told them the story and they talked to him. They came back and said he was obviously mentally ill. They said he said I was trying to microwave his grandchildren. The freakiest part is that he fenced in the corner of his front yard a few days ago and he told the cops that was to prevent me from spying on him. Anyway the cops said I'll be fine and if he comes on my property, just call them. I said that doesn't really sound right but I said ok and they left. After thinking about it I called the cops back and asked if I could have him arrested. The fact that he's fixated on me in a violent way is disturbing. They said there's nothing they can charge him with because I was on his property. I said isn't that still assault? And they said no because he didn't do anything. So basically the cops don't know the difference between assault and battery. I asked if some trick or treaters came to my door and I pointed a gun at them, would that be legal? And they said yes. So now I'm wondering what to do. I was thinking about moving before this anyway but with interest rates right now I'll get killed (pun intended). I'm hoping that if I just stay out of sight he'll forget about me. It won't be that hard since I have the 9 foot fence and he put that corner fence in but dang this is so weird. Any advice?

It looks like a couple more banks are in trouble. I figured the bailout would stop that and shift the problem back to inflation, but maybe not?

I think they stopped the bank failures for now but the problem is they did it by creating inflation. My guess is the fed is not going to cut rates but they are going to be doing stealth QE now that the banks can trade in their low yielding paper for high yielding paper. This way they can claim they are still fighting inflation since most people focus on the rates not on the balance sheet. It'll be interesting to watch the balance sheet although they're in so much trouble now that I'm worried they might start faking the balance sheet numbers. Especially when we get close to hitting milestones like 10 trillion on the balance sheet.

It's a myth that recession stops inflation. It's true that people spend less during a recession but they also produce less stuff. And governments tend to run much bigger deficits therefore print more money in recession. Look at countries that have had high to hyper-inflation. Their economies are always screwed up.

Ok, so you agree that if the fed doesn't reduce its balance sheet prices have a long way to go up, right? You keep skipping the part where you were calling on the fed to print 6 trillion in early 2020. That's when it was too late. So what do you think is going to happen with prices (specifically housing, energy, food) over the next few years? Assuming they use the current methodology I think the CPI will be well north of 10% and commodities like copper, wheat, oil will all be at record highs.

Yeah, but by then it was too late. I'm talking about a year earlier when covid hit and you were calling for 6 trillion in QE. Your theory is that M2 just magically goes up for no apparent reason. Do you think inflation is under control now and not going to be a problem for the next few years? Edit: I went and looked up the cpi numbers. The cpi started rising a couple months BEFORE you predicted it to rise!!! You need a new crystal ball. https://www.bls.gov/charts/consumer-price-index/consumer-price-index-by-category-line-chart.htm

That's true but on the other hand there's pressure for the banks to offer higher yields so eventually they will go full retard or they'll go under. Outlawing fractional reserve banking makes no sense to me, why not let the customers decide? As long as the bank is not lying about its position. You were wrong about QE not causing inflation and you're going to be wrong about the price inflation being temporary. As soon as the Fed does a hard pivot commodities are going to make all time highs and price inflation will as well.

Of course if you're a responsible bank you're pissed off. You were a sucker for doing the right thing. Lesson learned. Time to go all in on crypto and the cathy woods fund. It's interesting how quickly they did a 180 on that bailout isn't it? Sunday morning, no bailout. Sunday evening, total bailout. This will probably buy them some time, but it insures the next crisis will be much worse. Might as well get it over with and just nationalize the banks.

Well I just saw a youtube video on cnn that somehow the US govt is going to make all depositors whole and they'll have the money available monday morning. And the funniest part is the government claims (and cnn doesn't question it) that it will not come at tax payer expense!!!! I can't believe you don't see the massive moral hazard of guaranteeing all bank deposits. This might be good for crypto though. If you're a bank why not gamble on the riskiest assets? Might as well stop at the horse track on your way to buying crypto. It's going to be an interesting week. I'm curious to see the fed's balance sheet although as bold as they're getting with their lies I'm wondering if we can even trust that.

That makes sense but is that the only reason? I can't believe higher rates aren't causing losses. Edit: I've watched several videos and articles and none of them mention crypto as a cause of SVB losing money. They're all mentioning higher rates causing banks' assets to crash as the major cause.

Yeah but those record profits aren't adjusted for inflation, and they don't take into consideration the losses they've had in the past. I get a 3% raise every year but it doesn't feel like I'm making "record profits".
