I think it was at the last Fed meeting at Jackson Hole I saw this interview with a guy from India. The interviewer asked him something like: "Why can't you just lower rates (in India) to promote growth?" He replied: "We're not like you, we have to worry about inflation." It's like we're in this fantasy world where the laws of economics have been suspended. But it can't last forever.

Good point. Also Scandinavian countries can't borrow and print so it's either raise taxes on everyone or get rid of the government service.

The other forum I visit is great. You can block people, which means they can't quote you. They can't reply to your threads. This drives them totally crazy because their pay is affected. If a normal person is blocked, he'll whine about it for 5 minutes but then move on. If a paid troll is blocked, he whines incessantly. I've driven off 2 paid people this way. A few others barely bother to post.

He might as well be. It's like we curse and kick the robot, and the robot just stands there. I'm on another forum, which is also infested with paid trolls. The difference is that I stick it to them the way paid trolls stick it to RPF. The assholes on the other forum are reeling and befuddled. I've been called everything from a shill to a mentally ill bum posting from the library. And I love it because the shills on the other forum have been totally exposed. There is little to no moderation, so I can say whatever I want. I totally mock them, but they continue to post there. They think it's that important to have their message out. If anyone wants to have some real fun, then let me know. :frog::D I have an idea of who pays them.

Anybody ever notice Zip's technique of trying to put everyone here on the defensive? He asks the concise questions; we furiously type out a long answer. And I think people do a good job of refuting him, and even putting him on the defensive. Both liberty people and the enemy, Zip, both expend a lot of energy. Sometimes you get exhausted, but there is one difference. Zip goes home at the end of his posting with a paycheck. You don't.

I am disappointed. Your trolling has taken a dramatic nosedive in quality. And to think you were once a good nemesis. :(

That is outstanding. + rep times a million. I would love to meet your dad. I say never, EVER take a plea deal. NEVER GROVEL. My record in criminal court cases is 1 win and 1 loss. The lawyer I met with told me to "plea" and do "community service." Yeah, right. I ended up defending myself, but still lost. The judge knew I was not guilty, but he was a coward. The pigs lied through their teeth. If only I had video evidence I would have been cleared. I was simply fined with probation. I ended up stealing the money back, but won't tell you how I did that. I have to convince myself the financial gain was better than burning down the courthouse. :frog:

What I can't figure out is how those guys get elected promising high taxes for everyone. Over here the trick to getting elected is to steal from the few to buy votes from the many.

The problem is that Bernie only wants the socialist parts of "scandinavian style socialism" and none of the free market ones. For example those countries tend to have a flatter tax system and low corporate tax rates.

I'm wondering if that debt number includes their assets. If you owe 10 trillion but someone else owes you 11 trillion, you're not really in debt. China holds a lot of foreign debt and their citizens have very little private debt from what I've heard. I'm not saying China doesn't have problems but compared to us I think their debt situation is tiny.

    Madison320 replied to a thread Gold @ $1,528 in Economy & Markets
It's eventually going a lot higher than that based on the amount of money that's been printed. Gold and most other prices have a lot of catching up to do.

There's 4.2 trillion (and rapidly rising) reasons why gold is going a lot higher.

They should never have done QE at all and they should've let rates find their free market level. Which would have been much higher than 0%. And they never should've borrowed trillions of dollars every year. As with most members here I don't think the government should print, borrow and ZIRP to boost the economy in the short run (at the expense of a much bigger crash in the future). Since your only argument that Obama didn't influence the Fed is that rates were not 0% but a tiny hair above 0%, I rest my case.

The recession ended by 2011. Obama didn't need QE2, QE3 and ZIRP for his last 5 or 6 years. Obama had the Fed under his thumb. Trump can only dream of having the kind of influence that Obama had.

You are blinded by your loyalty to the democratic party. The only difference between Obama and Trump is that Obama OWNED the Federal Reserve. They kept rates at zero for his entire 8 year reign and printed 3.5 trillion!!! Compare that to Trump, as soon as Trump got elected they started raising rates and reducing QE.

Why are you ignoring my simple question? Will you get in trouble if you answer it? Asking for the third time: Your statement: "Trump wants negative interest rates and heuge QE so he can look amazing just in time for the election." So do you agree this is true after 2011?
