Exactly. Health care is in the running for the most regulated industry. Banking might take first place with health care a close second. I remember reading an op-ed from some idiot that wanted socialized health care and at the end the writer wrote "We've tried free market health care and it didn't work". Harry Browne used to say "The government breaks your leg and then offers you a crutch and says "what would you do without us?""

What would be an example of something a private company does that should be punished by the government? Not including things that are already a violation of natural law like murder.

I think so, that's a more extreme example since there's not really a private market for military weapons.

In my opinion it's 100% the fault of government. "Blaming" the insurance companies makes it sound like you want the government to punish them as part of the solution. If you agree with me that 100% of the solution is to get government out of health care then we agree and are just arguing about semantics.

I feel like the whole gun violation, tax cheating thing is misdirection. Meanwhile Joe and Hunter Biden were taking bribes from a Ukrainian energy company. The same country that Biden is sending billions of dollars to and risking world war 3.

It would actually be the right thing to do. But no one wants to trade short term pain for long term gain.

I don't think Trump wants us to be poor, he's just economically ignorant. If TheTexan got his way and we banned all trade how long do you think it would be before he reversed his decision? I'd give it 2 days.

I think cutting spending is by far the most important thing. We are on the path to hyperinflation if we don't cut spending. Normally I'd say there's a 0% chance that spending gets cut, but I'm giving it a slightly higher chance this time. Trump is a lame duck president and he's got some people around him that seem to know how critical spending cuts are. This is fascinating to me. On the one hand history will tell you they're more likely to go on a spending orgy, but on the other hand I don't think I've ever heard so many people talking about spending cuts. When do they do the budget? I feel like it happens early in the year so we won't have to wait long to get an answer to this.

For the people that think Trump is going to cut spending, what changed since the last time he was president? I think there's a very slight chance he may cut spending based on the fact that he has people around him that are warning him about the debt. But only a slight chance. Maybe 1%. And remember that for the cuts to be real, spending has to actually go down during the next 4 years. No "reductions in the rate of increase" or "future cuts".
