Apparently, North Dakota's education establishment thinks North Dakotans and their legislators are stupid, gullible, or both. But in fairness, they are not alone — state and federal officials all over America have been trying to dupe those they misrule into believing the toxic “Common Core” scheme was history. It's not. In fact, it is as firmly entrenched as ever. Facing a grassroots uprising over the dumbed-down national “education” standards pushed on to states by bribes and bullying from the Obama administration, North Dakota Department of Public Instruction (DPI) and their cohorts simply decided to re-brand the scheme. Now, instead of “Common Core,” the state has adopted “new” “North Dakota” standards. Unfortunately, though, they are essentially indistinguishable. More at:

“Non-Binary” has become an acceptable gender identification in the state of California. On October 15, California Governor Jerry Brown signed SB 179, the Gender Recognition Act, into law, paving the way for a third gender choice on state driver's licenses, and simplifying the process for residents to legally change their genders and names on state documents. The term “non-binary” has become the label of choice for a broad range of individuals who refuse to identify as either male or female, and increasingly government entities across the U.S. are studying the possibility of employing the term, or one like it, to refer to individuals at odds with normal gender labels. Both Oregon and the District of Columbia now offer the gender-neutral choice of “X” on their driver's licenses and identification cards, and New York state is also considering a third-gender option. Rick Zbur of Equality California applauded the new law, saying that it puts his state at the “forefront of ensuring the dignity and safety of its transgender, non-binary, and gender-non-conforming residents.” He added that “when your ID doesn’t match your gender identity or expression, it can expose you to potentially dangerous situations. SB 179 eliminates unnecessary obstacles from the process of getting state-issued identification documents for thousands of Californians.” But Jonathan Keller of the conservative California Family Council (CFC) said the measure is fraught with problems that conflict with a properly functioning society. “We believe government documents need to reflect biological facts for identification and medical purposes,” he said in a statement before passage of the bill. “Secondly, the bill advances a falsehood — that being male or female, or no gender at all is a choice each person must make, not a fact to celebrate and accept. Laws like this will simply erase any meaningful gender definitions — if being male or female is completely divorced from biological facts.” Following Governor Brown's signing of the bill into law, CFC took to Facebook to lament the measure's passage. “The state of California no longer believes in the dictionary definition of a man or a woman, which says sex is determined by certain physical characteristics,” the group said in a Facebook post. “Now in California any man can declare himself a woman, and any woman can use the word 'man' for self-identification, no questions asked, no physical proof required.” The pro-family group predicted that “this will not be the end of our journey into irrationality. It is just the beginning. Just watch what happens now that state leaders have established that feelings are more reliable than physical facts when determining what is real and what is true. God help us.” More at:

Leave it to the Zippy to spread false information. As if that would make it OK even were it true. However Zippy's assertion is just more disinformation. It is completely false. (A link to the full text of the actual bill is below.) Zippy's link to the article is not good as a subscription is required, so have to rely on zippy's quote. Zippy quotes that "only two foreign companies are affected". That may be true, but the statute does not limit itself to only "foreign companies." The statute applies to all companies, partnerships, sole-proprietorships, LLCs, associations, organizations, etc. The comptroller may have only identified two foreign companies so far as boycotters, and thus forbidden them from any state contracts, but every company anywhere in the world is forbidden from any Texas state contracts unless they certify they don't and won't participate in the boycott. It is an ominous chilling effect and a serious affront to free speech and thought. Further, even what Zippy does quote provides serious reason for concern,"Senate sponsor Brandon Creighton, R-Conroe, said he is confident the law will act as a deterrent going forward. 'We are not only talking about businesses today, but also tomorrow,' he said in a statement. 'Should any think about changing strategies to boycott Israel, maybe they will think twice.'”

After months of planning and cogitating over how to address the failing public pension systems in their state, which are somewhere between $40 and $80 billion under water, Governor Matt Bevin and the leaders of the General Assembly’s Republican majorities released their plan earlier today and it appears to be nothing more than the same old "kick the can down the road" approach to "pension reform" that has perpetuated the pension ponzi in this country for decades while doing absolutely nothing to address the actual crisis. Here is a summary of the 'plan' courtesy of the Courier-Journal...notice that aside from putting new teachers into a "401(k)-style" defined contribution plan, the Republican proposal does pretty much nothing else except demand that more taxpayer dollars be diverted to service failing pension plans. Here are highlights of the multi-point proposal: There is no increase in the full retirement age for current workers

Only transactions taxed by that state would be affected, not all states tax everything, and any higher prices would be offset by the federal tax elimination, no taxes would be hidden and the local more easily influenced government would be held responsible.

The Intercept Exposes Texas Thought Control Policy: To Get Hurricane Rebuilding Contracts, Texas Contractors Must Pledge Not to Boycott Israel If You’re a Texan looking to rebuild in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, you’d better not boycott Israel. … If you’re confused why the two things are related, look to a bill that Texas’s Republican Gov. Greg Abbott signed into law in July. House Bill 89 prohibits the state from entering into contract with a business unless it “does not boycott Israel; and will not boycott Israel during the term of the contract.” The law applies even to businesses that would refuse to buy products made in illegal Israeli settlements on Palestinian land — as it defines Israel as both Israel proper and “Israeli-controlled territory.” … check out a sample application :

Researchers warn that large parts of biomedical science could be invalid due to a cascading history of flawed data in a systemic failure going back decades. A new investigation reveals more than 30,000 published scientific studies could be compromised by their use of misidentified cell lines, owing to so-called immortal cells contaminating other research cultures in the lab. The problem is as serious as it is simple: researchers studying lung cancer publish a new paper, only it turns out the tissue they were actually using in the lab were liver cells. Or what they thought were human cells were mice cells, or vice versa, or something else entirely. If you think that sounds bad, you're right, as it means the findings of each piece of affected research may be flawed, and could even be completely unreliable. "Most scientists don't intentionally publish findings on the wrong cells," explains one of the researchers, Serge Horbach from Radboud University in the Netherlands. "It's an honest mistake. The more concerning problem is that the research data is potentially invalid and impossible to reproduce." Horback and fellow researcher Willem Halffman wanted to know how extensive the phenomenon of misidentified cell lines really was, so they searched for evidence of what they call "contaminated" scientific literature. Using the research database Web of Science, they looked for scientific articles based on any of the known misidentified cell lines as listed by the International Cell Line Authentication Committee's (ICLAC) Register of Misidentified Cell Lines. There are currently 451 cell lines on this list, and they're not what you think they are – having been contaminated by other kinds of cells at some point in scientific history. Worse still, they've been unwittingly used in published laboratory research going as far back as the 1950s. "After an extensive literary study, we believe this involves some 33,000 publications," Halffman explains.

Spain Unleashes Historic Power to End Catalan Independence Push Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy will deploy the Spanish government’s most wide-ranging constitutional powers for the first time in the country’s history as he seeks to land a decisive blow on the Catalan separatist movement. Spanish stocks and bonds dropped as Rajoy’s government said it will move forward with the process of suspending the powers of the Catalan administration after regional President Carles Puigdemont refused to shelve his claim to independence. Carles Puigdemont Photographer: Angel Garcia/Bloomberg Spain’s government issued a statement on Thursday morning invoking Article 155 of the Constitution “to restore the legality” of the semi-autonomous region.

"The vegetarian movement ought to fill with gladness the souls of those who have at heart the realization of God's kingdom upon earth, not because vegetarianism itself is such an important step towards the realization of this kingdom (all real steps are equally important or unimportant), but because it serves as a criterion by which we know that the pursuit of moral perfection on the part of man is genuine and sincere.

For if a man aspires towards a righteous life, his first act of abstinence is from injury to animals."
