Why I ask? I like to have an intelligent discussion and sometimes it needs some fuel. I'm perfectly happy in taking positions I do not (fully) agree with in order to have someone else develop better arguments. It's about knowledge, and knowledge is power, as you may well know. Well said. Police should try to de-escalate whenever possible but the opposite seems true in many cases. I've personally been in a situation before, not bad at all compared to this, where I was the de-escalating factor but a cop was trying to find reasons. A friend of mine was arrested heavy handed by a cop for doing exactly nothing... Only because he got the phone number of a random bystander that helped him he got off and received damages.
