Or, "What is hermeneutics?" Yes, the title is clickbait. I'm pretty shameless with the clickbait titles on topics like this... The following video is by a Roman Catholic (I'm not Roman Catholic), but it's pretty good. It gets the viewer started on debunking the popular usage of the term "literal". Atheists, skeptics and other critics of the faith like to use the shame-question, "You don't take the Bible literally, do you?" as a way to sow the seeds of doubt in people's minds. And while there is some definite criticism behind this question, the vast majority of people never pierce through to that actual criticism. Rather, they have a pure strawman conception of what it means to take the Bible "literally": Another way to say it is this: the Bible is true. All of it. Every single word. Other terms like "inerrant", "infallible", "literal", and so on, can lead to all kinds of confusing rabbit-trails. While those are important discussions, especially if you're thinking of going into seminary, etc. the fact is that almost all the words that people utter on these topics are a waste of breath. When I say, "I believe the Bible, it is God's Word", that simply means the Bible is true. There is no need to make it "extra" true by saying it's "literally" true. It's just true, in the ordinary sense that any true thing is true. It is true that the sky is blue. It is true that rocks are hard. It is true that water is wet. Perhaps you can even think of weird exceptions to these truths, or raise abstruse philosophical questions. But those aren't the kinds of things that we have in mind when we make simple, basic claims like "the sky is blue". And neither are these abstruse philosophical quandaries in view when we claim "the Bible is true (all of it, every word)". Rather, we just mean it in the simple, straightforward sense that the things it says are true, as such. And while there are passages in the Bible where subtle questions of philosophy are relevant, the vast bulk of the Bible just means what it says and even an 8th-grader can probably understand what it's saying, that is, the meaning of the vast bulk of the Bible is apparent on its face. It means what it says, and what it says is true. We don't need to strengthen that into saying it's "literally" true... it's just true, full-stop.

:shrugging: Every report I've seen coming out of the hard-left MSM which truly and un-fake-ably hates Donald Trump on many levels, is that a bullet struck his ear and injured him. You're the only one on this "shard of glass" goose-chase. I'm open to all evidence, but it is the minority report and you can't flip the script on that just by going into Angry Man Yells At Cloud mode...

While I have no doubt that the ominous "they" have many things planned, the reality is that nearly assassinating your opponent is how you guarantee that he will get elected. It doesn't matter who pulled the trigger, or why. An assassination-attempt like that is a "can't miss" situation. You have to hit the target because failing to hit the target guarantees that he will win. While I grant that the much-feared "Deep State" has "six ways from Sunday" (to quote Chucky Schumer) of manipulating the public, the reality is that they have flubbed the ball for real this time. COVID was already such a PR disaster for them that they could barely make the Trump-Biden race look like even odds, even with all their statistical manipulation tricks. But nearly assassinating Trump is the best gift you could possibly give him. The shooter wrapped the Oval Office in Christmas paper, tied it with a bow and handed it to Trump. That's why the D's are Yosemite Sam stomping-mad at Cheatle. Her job was to either make sure nothing like this could happen at all, or make sure Trump ended up on a cooling board. What actually happened is the worst-case scenario for them. Even with all their dirty-tricks, I think the best the Dems can hope for in 2024 is a Reagan-scale landslide. The only ones left standing right now are the absolute DC Beltway insiders, everybody else has seen the writing on the wall and jumped ship. The only ones left are the ones who can't leave because the only reason they don't go straight to Federal prison is because they have some powerful position.

Indeed. What I can inform you with absolutely certainty is that someone, somewhere, pulled the trigger on some kind of MK-Ultra-style "confusion nuke". I am absolutely convinced that what we are seeing in the headlines is just a side-effect of that weapon. "Play stupid games, win Clown World." :shrugging: Some people are just right no matter what... or, in other words, "You can't fix stupid."

Marxists are to the right of the Republican establishment by a long shot. If you teleported today's Republicans back to Stalin's USSR, they would have dragged him into Red Square, shot him for being too conservative, then installed real Marxism. A bunch of trained hamster-wheel runners who recite exactly the talking-points that their dog-trainers at the Federal Reserve trained them to bark. Mindless leftists, useless eaters and air-thieves. Mass-murdering psychopaths who would have made Pol Pot blush with shame at the scale of their murder and open blood-lust. There is no string of words that can be assembled in English too strong to denounce the evil of the post-911 Republican establishment. Omnicidal, Molech-worshiping, baby-burning psychopaths... for starters.

I think that people sometimes draw the wrong lesson from "Satan cannot cast out Satan" -- it's not that Satan's kingdom is actually stable, which is an absurd concept, rather, it's that God will not drive it to final destruction until the end (thus, in the meantime, he will not be divided). So, there is coming a time when all the knives will come out and, to my mind, I suppose they will remain drawn for all of eternity in an infinite stabbing contest. For this reason, I am convinced that DC is the single best portrait we have on earth of the lake of fire... maybe the Vatican, too, I don't know enough about it, but DC for sure. Truly a den of serpents without any solidarity whatsoever. But they do seem to understand the basic calculus of physical violence and potential threats. I think the D's want the Secret Service to do what it is ordered by "the higher-ups" and I think they find any deviation from that highly unnerving. Also, they're probably just furious that the shooter missed. This could have all been covered up if the bullet had hit its mark. But now somebody has to fry, because the Deep State Toddler didn't get what Deep State Toddler want and now he's going to have a tantrum...

In addition, I think a lot of D's may be feeling a bit hot around the collar -- if a shooter can take a shot at Trump then, in principle, a shooter could take a shot at Biden, Harris or any other Secret Service protectee, which could even include the Speaker of the House during a NATSEC scenario. Congress are almost all a bunch of traitors, liars and bribe-takers who thrive on the political theater of squabbling with each other but when the rifle-scope is trained on them, they suddenly figure out how to become unified. Cheatle is done, I can't see her serving out the week, there are 535 lawmakers who want to see her head on a platter and with Biden dropping out, she no longer has any meaningful political cover. She's a sitting duck.

I think we will see her resignation in short order. She has no political cover. Yes, the Dems are grand-standing for gun-control but there is not a single "sympathetic voice" in the room. Biden was cover for her while he was holding on. Now, he's out. She is completely exposed to the elements and both parties are after her head. I will be shocked if she survives the week as director.

If it turns out you're right (that Trump isn't what he seems to be), I think you will have proved more than you yourself want to prove -- every indication is that the MOTB is the very next Agenda-item for the DS/network-of-evil (the literal children of the devil), and that this is going to become prophetic on a global scale. There are several prophetic items that have to fall into place first, but those could all drop literally overnight, nothing is stopping that from happening. In summary, if Trump turns out to be working for evil, I'm pretty sure that will just be because we have begun the Apocalypse-for-real. And nobody's going to be saying "nyah nyah told you so" once that clock starts ticking...

In the modern era, there is no need to "choose a translation", especially for word-study, etc. If you search a specific verse like John 3:16, BibleGateway has a button at the bottom of the page "See this verse in all English translations" and if you click it, you will instantly see every translation of John 3:16, in parallel. So much for "which translation?" Since most of us are not Greek/Hebrew scholars, we do have to be careful not to form baseless opinions regarding complex topics involving the original languages. For most passages, the meaning is so clear that even non-scholars can understand what is being said just using the Interlinear Hebrew and Interlinear Greek, and consulting the linked Strong's numbers. For people who care about what translation to use, I highly recommend to bookmark these resources. Be aware that the BibleHub Interlinear is based on an amalgam of sources, see here (scroll down), so there may be variants in the source manuscripts and you just need to keep that in mind (it would be nice if they had a tool that showed all variants side-by-side, but this is an invaluable resource anyway.) For people who are new to the Bible, I recommend a modern, neutral translation, such as ESV or NIV (there are other good options, I am just familiar with these two). For memorization, I actually recommend the KJV because the anachronistic language actually helps your brain retain things better... the "weirdness" to the modern ear of some of the language makes it that much more memorable. Plus, it really is a beautiful translation in terms of tone and diction. Some of the modern translations choose very a pedestrian tone and the original just isn't written in that tone, it is closer to the tone of the KJV (high tone, noble diction). "And Joseph said unto them, What deed is this that ye have done? wot ye not that such a man as I can certainly divine?" (Gen. 44:15) Next time you think of stealing a chalice, make sure to wot ye that its owner may be able to divine! If you want to use both a modern translation and the KJV together, a good choice is the NKJV because it tries to stick to the KJV's overall grammatical structure, as much as it can be salvaged in modern English.

Prior to the assassination-attempt, my forecast was Michelle. I'm switching my forecast to Kamala. She was installed as VP as a "throwaway identity" and, despite all the claims to the contrary, I think she's OK with that... I think she signed up to be more or less invisible, while padding her resume with the best political line-item you can have on your resume short of being actual POTUS. VP is actually a great job once it's over, because you remain "once removed from POTUS" for the rest of your life, but with 0.0001% of the political pressure and expectations. So, treading water until January is absolutely something Kamala can deliver. The Left went-for-broke with this assassination-attempt. The problem with a high-stakes move like that is that you can't miss. They missed. The entire Democrat 2024 campaign is absolutely DOA. Nothing will revive it.
