Lol - you must be buying into the rhetoric instead of the actions. Seems to me that government grows and liberty recedes regardless of which party is in power. In fact, the two parties seem to work in incredibly efficient unison to acquire and use as much power as possible. So, which leg do you hate worse? The left one or the right one? (Hint: if you choose one leg over the other, you missed the point.)

Sorry to interject, here, but the problem with money in politics is NOT that people (or corporations) are buying politicians; it's that politicians have something to sell. If they didn't have the power to influence the market at all, it wouldn't matter who "had our best interests" in mind. Carry on.

It's the political hot potato: to be passed to whatever party is in power>to ensure the other party gets good fundraising>to ensure they get the hot potato next>to ensure the cycle continues. Brilliant plan... if you're a psychopath... ...or a politician.

Seems to me, Rand is the only one working "Positively" towards anything. The rest of them are just playing with their version of negatives. Oh well, looks like Trump and the GOP are going to own the disaster, now. How fun.

"Conservatives" used to be vehemently against such things. But I guess that only applied to talk radio. Just goes to show that there are very few people who have principles. They all just want a government to work in their favor.

Government skoolz are not for education. They're babysitting indoctrination centers. Repeat at the end of the week what they tell you at the beginning of the week and you get A's. you don't have to learn anything to get through, so why would you? You'd have to make your own incentive, because their incentive is to get more money from taxpayers. That's it.

Yep. And the way to achieve those goals, agendas, and ambitions is to gain more power for the government in which they operate. Tools of the beast.

The goal of every government is to grow. It has no amibitions beyond that. What will the dog do when it finally catches the car? Probably use it to chase the next car.

Oh for crying out loud... Speech?! Really?! You're refusal to exchange with someone is now making a statement?! Listen, I guess I like the outcome of the ruling, but the justification is beyond ridiculous. It's a freedom of association thing. It takes two to voluntarily make an exchange and if either party doesn't want to, the exchange doesn't happen. We don't need to bring freedom of speech into this.

I generally prefer meat with no seasoning other than salt and a little char/smoke. Red meat at least. Chickens are just bland. But bacon?! Come on... don't tell me bacon needs seasoning.

I've found that a positive outlook will prevent the Luddite. Luddites look at technology as a curse. But if you look at technology as a tool... A tool for good or evil... You will most likely change your frame of reference. It's a tool that must be protected from evil and used for good. Luddites want to prevent the tool because of the harm it may do. But if you see the possibilities in liberty, technology becomes a beacon of hope.

So, I once did a stint with fruitarianism. No taking of life whatsoever. Eating only what nature provided as a means of reproduction. (Some plants create fruit to attract other animals to help spread their seed.) It was as pure from a philosophical point as I could get. I'm glad I did it because it provided me some enlightenment I wouldn't have gotten otherwise, but it wasn't sustainable. I discovered that life consumes other life. It's natural. We are no more "taught" to eat animals than a baby lion is "taught" to eat a gazelle. Human beings are omnivores by nature. I've come to terms with it. And it's not an immoral thing (if done properly).

I'm with ya. Not on the whole no meat thing, but with the douchery. The truth is, I suppose you have to expect a backlash if you're going to preach to people that what they're doing is wrong. Especially, since human beings are, as a species, omnivores. I think it's great you've chosen to stand on one leg your whole life because of your principles. It takes amazing will power and mental fortitude. I've tried a few times, but always come back to eating animals. I just can't fight my nature like that forever. I don't think anyone in here likes factory farms though. In fact, from a purely utilitarian standpoint, if we want our food to be treated ethically, it makes more sense to encourage the ethically-based market than to take ourselves out of it entirely.

I mean, isn't it effectively repealed already? Right now, it's just a little government-mandated song and dance every once and awhile. Gotta love Trump - he's just telling the people what government is doing anyway! Making it plainly obvious! What a guy! (seriously, though. removal of the debt ceiling, regardless of how pointless the "ceiling" is, will just allow the government to spend without anyone questioning. it may be the final nail to pop the bubble.)

So do dumbasses. Both parties encourage it. Listen, the point of my comment is that you can't get more liberty by restricting liberty. It doesn't matter who is voting, they all vote to take away your liberty and mine. We don't need to be part of it. DACA or no DACA, it doesn't matter. The real problem with immigration is the restrictions on our liberty. The welfare state and the drug war. I understand the impulse to say, "well, we can't correct one government-created problem, so we need more government to fix it", but that NEVER works.

You realize that applies to almost everyone, right? Not just immigrants. And since people covered by DACA don't get voting rights, you're really talking about their children. Like I said in my previous post, if we're going to start deporting people because of how their descendants may vote in the future, you would have had to stop that parade generations ago! Because most of the country has no problems using government to get things they want. You're no more likely to convince someone in the "native" population to stop giving government power than you are of convincing the child of a DACA immigrant. Even less so if you've been bad-mouthing their families for years. I don't need to know the question; liberty is always the answer. It just takes faith. And trust in your beliefs. I can't tell you how many so-called "free-market" people turn to socialism as soon as a hurricane strikes. In times of strife, that is when liberty is needed the MOST!

erowe1, are you seriously taking the position that cops are "innocent until proven guilty"? Or are you just messing with people here to see if they are parroting what they've been told without thinking about it?

Mind you, I'm not talking about the not-so-subtle "Let's lynch 'em" attitude. I tend to think that's a bad idea, even if I philosophize in weird directions sometimes (its part of my efforts to stay sane while surrounded by statists IRL, give me a break). But, there is a difference between saying "we shouldn't condone harming X for Y or Z reasons" and saying "X is actually innocent."

Note, also by "innocent" I don't even mean morally sinless, I just mean per the NAP. I'd honestly be shocked if there is a single cop who's been on the force for more than a week who isn't an NAP violator. Do you disagree?

Thanks for the sermon. Good stuff. I passed it on to my parents. My dad's a pastor so I'd love to see him converted to the view of Romans 13 that you take or a similar one.

Just out of curiosity, how well received was that message in your church?

Thanks. One of my brothers in Christ who I respect and love told me that a Christian man should spend more time with his brothers than people in the world. I was spending so much time on the forums with these unbelievers, and when he said that, I was extremely convicted. There is nothing like spending time with brothers who build you up in the Lord and sharpen you.
