Sounds like the propaganda you were taught to ensure libertarian beliefs are an extreme minority politically in this country. In the real world you have to make sacrifices, alliances, make in roads so you do not lose more of your rights and move us closer in the right direction. Sometimes that means supporting candidates that will erode less of our rights since what is the alternative? I believe the establishment elites and Socialists have made significant in-roads to ensure libertarians are not and are never a factor politically in this country. They do it through this brainwashing of claiming to be libertarians and then telling people like you to stick to your guns 100% and sit home if you have to at election time. Voter suppression with the intended consequence to move the country further to the left each cycle.

Bill Kristol,David Frum, Max Boot & some other Neocons left the Republican Party because of Trump opposition to the Iraq war. The are the same people who said Pat Buchanan & Ron Paul should leave the Republican Party. I'm thankful to Trump for this alone!

most of our supporters were totally fucking nuts So I'm nuts for supporting ron Paul? No you are nuts for supporting communist Bernie sanders. If you think that selfishness and cruelty are fantastic personal traits, you might be a libertarian. This is a leftist talking point. There are a lot of libertarians in the Tea Party, but there are also a lot of repugnant, religious nuts and intolerant racists. “Birthers” found a comfy home among 9-11 conspiracy people and other crackpots.

CNN)The Nevada caucus is wide open, with Bernie Sanders best positioned to take advantage of a fragmented field and the deep passion of his base. This is setting off rounds of hand-wringing as establishment types in the state and nationally (again) misjudge the mood of an angry electorate.Nevada is a critical benchmark, a diverse and blueing state that has often embraced unconventional politics and people. I've seen many sides of Nevada's political swings, as a delegate to the 2008 GOP state convention for presidential candidate Ron Paul, and eight years later when I caucused for Bernie Sanders in 2016. Edwin Lyngar It might sound odd to support a libertarian like Paul and then go for Bernie just a decade later, but it's much easier than it seems. True libertarians are supportive of LGBTQ rights, drug legalization, criminal justice reform, reproductive rights and a host of progressive social issues. The anti-government side of the libertarian wing is more problematic, and I spent much of my youth bleating about "freedom" while holding rabidly anti-government views, a common stance for naïve white kids. I didn't realize then that government is the only tool available to level the playing field, and by succumbing to the decades-long GOP crusade to vilify our own government and institutions, we end up powerless against business interests, polluters and hucksters determined to loot the country. I grew up in a working-class family in rural Nevada. My father made a living in mining, and we embraced the libertarian ethic of freedom, littering and an overinflated identity of real America. Despite hating the government, I joined the US Coast Guard, earning GI Bill money to pay for college, before making Reno my home. got another job where many anti-government zealots go, right back into government, at the state wildlife department. Government at every level enabled my middle-class existence, but I might have never seen the hypocrisy of government bashing — a central feature of Trumpism — had Nevada not been brought to its knees in the Great Recession.

I would have never voted for a war criminal like George W Bush but I voted for Trump. Trump has a good instinct on Foreign Policy. OK they are Partisan Republicans who like both Trump & Bush but many Trump supporters hate George W Bush. Does this sound like George W Bush? He sounds more like Ron Paul

The Dems want a moderate and strong candidate to beat Trump. I think Mike has got this. Biden is imploding and Sanders will not be able to come up with numbers like he did in NH. Buttigege had his best numbers and in future races will not have the delegates since the Dems know a gay man will not be able to beat Trump in the general. What chaos happens at the convention is another story but I still think Bloomberg will come out on top. Out of all the Dem candidates Bloomberg is Trump's greatest threat. But overall Trump is Trump's greatest threat to Trump getting re-elected. If Trump in a head to head race with Bloomberg, starts caving on gun control because Bloomberg is big on gun control and/or going after social security (cuts/raising the age), cutting Medicare (vowed not to during his campaign) he could lose. Trump cannot afford to demoralize his base before November to a point a percentage stays home. He will need every vote. Trump has the economy going for him for now. But a second threat to Trump which would not be his fault will be how our economy is effected by an economic down-turn in China due to the Coronavirus.

Probably, but I wonder is he that kind of guy that is fine with just endorsing and retiring. Last time around maybe he was looking ahead to running again in 4 years and did not want to completely burn bridges with his party. But now, age wise, he is out of time. I guess we will find out soon enough whether he goes quietly, wants something big in return or turns on his party by taking he supporters with him for a 3rd party run.

Clearly with the money he is spending wants to President and outside of internet forums people do not think Hillary would off him. Likely the same with him. She is an opportunist that will take whatever she can get.

Bloomberg is the strongest candidate they have and I think has the best chance of winning the nomination. Trump would have a tough time beating him in the general with Hillary on the ticket. It could still turn out to be a contested convention with Bloomberg or Clinton coming out on top, more likely a Bloomberg/Clinton deal. No doubt Bernie will get screwed again by the DNC and the far left will likely riot at the convention.

I thought I put up both sides in that last post. I do not see how Seniors getting screwed in the process makes it more palatable despite the positives listed. I am not even going outside libertarian beliefs. I am posting libertarian vs libertarian views on this topic. Have we become that afraid of discussing both sides of the truth here?

Current System - Government involvement in peoples lives to determine threshold for benefits. - Distributed exclusively to those in need and denied to everyone else. Creates animosity between citizens receiving and those not receiving benefits. - Requires big government apparatus to administer, monitor and review citizens lives to be sure they meet the threshold. - Tax dollars taken from citizens not returned to citizens UBI - No government intrusion in citizens personal lives.

But that is not happening. There is no movement on private alternative and reducing the welfare state. Eliminating all social programs in favor of UBI might not be the best solution but at least it is a start.

These questions about who supports it and who does not are listed in the first fucking post. Do I support it? http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?543749-The-Libertarian-Case-for-a-Basic-Income&p=6921553&viewfull=1#post6921553 Again, trying reading the thread before replying.

This is not a troll. If you even bothered to read the first post in this thread, I provided examples of libertarians on both sides of the UBI discussion. The first article comes from libertarian.org. The links I posted are mostly from libertarians sites and libertarians that support or do not support the UBI. Just like your friend above you did not bother to read the first post. I already replied to this exact same post already in this thread.

We are so far from living in a free society so why not do what we can to reduce the governments role and size now? It is a ridiculous far fetched fantasy year after year that libertarians have in believing the US will suddenly become a libertarian like society overnight, while doing nothing to take small steps to get there. While this goes on government gets bigger and intrudes on our lives. So what is the point of the libertarian movement? A set a values to marvel at like a book on a shelf with no effort to strategically get us to that utopia? Is it like some Star Trek future fantasy that people resign themselves to that is a impossible dream maybe hundreds of years from now? Are libertarians just people that have resigned themselves to be 1% that bitches and moans in forums about government rather than taking small steps to get us there? I suspect nothing will change and in 20 years we will be having the same discussion in this forum. Except we will probably have to have a license to post here and are posts will be included as part of our social credit score. That is where we are headed if libertarians continue down the same road they have in the past.
