As I read and see and hear the rhetoric of those we may conversationally label as "the left", it becomes clearer with each passing day that America is nigh upon what may be its most critical nexus to date, one possible result standing to see the dismantling of the last hope for humanity to escape global, technologically-enabled servitude of a nature and completeness never before experienced. It is not my purpose here to make melodramatic noises or to exaggerate. I am merely stating that which I see with seemingly ever greater clarity. While it is always possible that the differences between the deeply fractured patches of the American quilt might peaceably reknit themselves without bloodshed or anyone being forced to lay down their rights at the feet of others, I cannot see that the likelihood of this as anything better than vanishingly small. This, then, leaves Americans with what appears to be a stark choice: lay down in capitulation to the demands of the "left", or stand intransigently for liberty. Perhaps the noises issuing from high school students across the land are just the latest passing fad du jour, soon to be replaced by the next once the venting has let off the excess pressure of the understandable emotions that result from such tragic events as a school shooting. Perhaps it is misperception, but something in this latest spate of wildly irrational responses, driven by emotionalism gone wholly amok seems different. Let us hope it is I who am mis-measuring the significance and determination of the calls and callers for more "gun control". But what if it is not?

Agree, it can not continue without a major correction. What it proves? In and of itself, not much. Its the overall trend of many stores from many different companies that needs to be observed. Im sure a lot of the stuff sold in Toys R Us is not made in the US. If the Tariff Trends continue, this could be bad for those overseas manufacturers, which could be good for us. Not sure on that either. Thing is, thats 33,000 jobs (according to the article) which is a good chunk of "new jobs created every month" that now have to be "created" to handle the people that lost their jobs. Not that they were great jobs to begin with, but they were jobs. That, in and of itself is something that the country can handle. But like I said, its the overall trend to watch, not just one chain. Lose 10 chain stores like Toys R Us, roughly equal in size, and thats 330,000 jobs that go bye bye. That is more jobs than the US "creates" every month. A major economic downturn wont hit only one chain, or a limited number of chains. It will hit EVERY business in the US. Again, watch the Trend. A severe major economic downturn or correction will hit hundreds and even thousands of businesses, and tens of thousands of individual stores. If we dont want to look at Toys R Us as the small sample, but bigger picture, try watching this related thread: The retail apocalypse has officially descended on America

Ink Cost to Consumer: $59.95 Ink Cost to Manufacture: $0.23 I think this is something we all already know about! At least on some level... So, lets hear some Libertarian solutions! Right to repair? 3rd Party Ink Cartridges at lower cost? Stop buying their garbage with a Boycott? How can we use a Free Market to have a solution that does not completely screw the customers over while not destroying ethical businesses and without govt interference?

We can't give the weak what they want, because all they want is more. They will take and take from the strong until the strong loads their asses with lead. The strong can be too forebearing, empowering the corrupt.

I've only seen the anime. Elysium or Oblivion, one of those movies, p. much stole it's premise and characters from it. Now James Cameron's making a Battle Angel movie.

SJWs, as a category, are defined, are are progressives. Therefore, you have a valid basis for your opinions. For you, Trump is sufficiently defined. I accept that, even if I think you may be premature, which is not to say you are wrong per sé. Apparently, I see possibilities others do not and am willing to hold off my conclusions until such time as things prove out for me. As I wrote before, I am slow to come to certain opinions. This one is of sufficient significance that I am willing to pay out a little more rope. As for Trump-as-progressive, his past stated positions certainly speak to that. People can change their views. Did Trump? Probably not. At this point it is of little practical importance. It may become far more so come the next election. Trump is almost certainly a one-term pony. The D-Phagues are going to be out in huge force, come 2020, I suspect... that is, if we have not settled things by the gun beforehand. It would appear that way, but media is difficult to trust. Time will tell - probably not that much more.

I about laughed when the reporter told Dr. Paul he was blocking the first woman to CIA head. I guess I just shook my head, because its past funny anymore. Rand let the press know, once again, that merit and worth, not gender or race, earn his confidence. Haspel is disgusting, Pompeo a lunatic... the drone fleet, WOD, every foreign policy will be touched by these two in some way.

Not sure. If all the tariffs that Trump is putting down causes these things to be made over here again, it could be a good thing. Honestly what worries me more than anything else is a flat out repeat of 2008 where its our jobs that are going away, and really still havent come back. Im sure Zippy will be in shortly to say otherwise as he always does. Overall, this does make me think there is a possibility that another economic downturn is right around the corner. One thing is for sure, if the economy does have a major downturn again (as happens every 7 years and we are overdue for our next), they will try to pin the entire thing on Trump. Not that I actually trust him to not have his own agenda either...

Nope. I don't base my judgments on lesser factors - at least not until the broader picture becomes clear. I am patient. Others are not. Or perhaps you all are just a whole lot smarter than I am - I admit that possibility. What I find disturbing in all of this is the blind hatred spewing from people here. In this, I am not seeing that much difference from the SJWs and other progressives. I certainly understand why they sentiments are there; I could go there too. What I don't understand is the absence of self-control and patience. Where is the strategic-analytic mindset that used to be in strong evidence here? Something is going on and it doesn't leave me with a sense of the warm and fuzzy. Perhaps it is me. I may be dead-wrong about all of this. Are you willing to concede the same about yourselves? ETA: Oh and BTW, what in hell does Trump have to do with Ill-Annoy's latest and most predictable move to quash basic human rights? Seems you hung a very sudden left onto Strawman Blvd. What have I missed?

The Trump support is very real. Don't listen to some of the idiots in here spreading nonsense and not knowing the dynamics of the game. Trump wins especially if high turnout or comes in a very close second in Iowa. He blows everyone out in NH and SC as of today.

Wish it were so but reality is reality.
