Yeah, tax holiday. It is every year before hurricane season on supplies. There are other tax holidays for school supplies and some other ones I can't recall right now.

I already explained the reason behind this. It was a compromise that DeSantis signed. The alternative was worse for both Florida residents and businesses.

It's not wrong. You were technically breaking the existing law by not paying taxes on online purchases. That tax was imposed long ago.

It's only on online purchases. I actually don't mind. I can avoid driving to the store which is a pain in Florida traffic especially in the winter high season. I can buy things from amazon etc at a lower total cost than at a local store with free shipping even now paying the sales tax. It's not a big deal.

You were legally obligated to pay them before. The state chose not to prosecute you for not paying. What DeSantis signed just had businesses collect them rather than you pay the state directly. It actually benefits the residents of Florida as a whole because this was enacted as an alternative to new taxes on Florida businesses. It raised revenue from out of state sources with laws that were already on the books but not enforced. If it had gone the other way and Florida business lost revenue to new taxes, a lot of people here would have been out of work. It was a fair compromise.

I actually don't like the law, but I'm not Ugandan and it's not my place to judge. Why does the US have to constantly impose values and morality on other conutnries.? You think we would have learned by now. Sanctions are a joke, the US has no real trade with Uganda.

It's a made up crisis about made up numbers. Don't fall for it. If the government has the ability to create endless new currency, a borrowing limit is meaningless. Taxes are just arbitrary numbers that increase with currency supply. Once you wrap your head around that it all makes sense.

Higher taxes are meaningless when the dollar has endless supply.

I'm sympathetic to gays. I don't have a problem with the pride merchandise. I just don't think it was appropriate to to have it right in your face as soon as you walk in the door. They have it in the back now and it looks like they removed the Sataninst stuff. That seems about right to me.

The Target here had it at the front as soon as you came in the door. Now there is less of it and they moved it to the back of the store. Apparently this is a thing in the south. As I said in the other recent thread about this. Sat phones are outdated and pointless in this day and age. Every superpower has sattellite killer weapons. The first step in a modern total global conflict would be to take out the enemy's communication sattellites. Then probably an airburst nuke to generate an EMP to take down any remaining communications and the power grid.

This war is a proxy war, not a global conflict. Don't expect a direct conflict with Russia. Sat phones are pointless in this age. Every superpower has the capability to take down the opposing superpowers satellites and that would be a first step to interrupt communications along with air busting a nuke for an EMP.
