Critical Education Theory Series, Part 19: Paulo Freire and the Critical Theft of Education The New Discourses Podcast with James Lindsay, Episode 88 (09 August 2022) This episode of the New Discourses Podcast continues a long miniseries exploring Paulo Freire’s landmark 1985 book The Politics of Education: Culture, Power, and Liberation, and it is embedded in the broader Critical Education Theory series. In the previous part, James Lindsay presented the ideas in the eighth chapter of that book, in which Freire describes “The Process of Political Literacy” and outlines a sweeping program for education as a means to remake Man himself. The previous parts of this series, covering the earlier chapters of the book can be found here, here, here, here,] here, here, and here . In this episode, James takes up the ninth chapter of The Politics of Education, wherein Freire describes what he calls “Humanistic Education,” as that term is meant by Karl Marx Building on the themes of the previous two chapters (education for conscientization and education as a process of political literacy ), this chapter clarifies how Paulo Freire enabled the theft of education from all potential learners for the purposes of Marxism. It’s an incredible crime against humanity. Join him to understand how Freire enabled the theft of education from our society and our children. https://odysee.com/@newdiscourses:9/paulo-freire-and-the-critical-theft-of:0 paulo-freire-and-the-critical-theft-of/0e136fc3d849eb14d96b6e8b775ef7acfb226758

Critical Education Theory Series, Part 18: Critical Education Violates the First Amendment The New Discourses Podcast with James Lindsay, Episode 87 (01 August 2022) Critical Pedagogy in our public schools unambiguously violates the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment. The reason is simple. As Critical Pedagogues themselves say, it has ambitions that can only be framed in religious terms, describes a fundamental concept of man and the world, and gives rise to duties of conscience. According to well-established First Amendment law in the United States, that violates the Establishment Clause. The argument is simple. The conception of man and the world it forwards is not the self-evident base of liberal society, which is by definition secular in this way; it is otherwise. It is the Hegelian-Marxist conception of a world that is transformed into its intended utopian state (literally, “the Kingdom of God on Earth”) by the morally obligated and willful activity of man undertaken with a specific belief, intention, and set of practices. It is a world that demands to be transformed into its ideal state by specific means in accordance with specific beliefs about its organization and operation with “conscientized” man as its intentional transformer. Join host James Lindsay for this episode of the New Discourses Podcast where he makes the argument, neat as neat. https://odysee.com/@newdiscourses:9/critical-education-violates-the-first:0 critical-education-violates-the-first/01242723c201418771440466655b512b7066a0f1

Also in the show, Tucker Goodrich calls in to talk about the real cause of diabetes and sensitivity to insulin. Is there any sign that DC's strong-arm tactics are paying off? What do we make of the resurgence of Ron Paul's ideas among conservatives of all stripes? Did Nancy Pelosi serve American interests in her visit to Taiwan? Joining David Gornoski to answer these questions and more is Daniel McAdams from the Ron Paul Liberty Report.

So, because he wants revenge Trump is automatically the right guy to lead us all to liberty? THIS peurile bullshit is the current level of political strategy and discourse in this country? A few more years of this blowhard in the spotlight and otherwise intelligent people will be beating their chests, grunting and flinging feces at each other. And some people actually believe that Trump has advanced the cause of liberty in some way? SMGDH

Turns out that treating your audience, your customers, you know, the people who PAY you and enable you to live the comfortable lifestyle that you do live, with some modicum of dignity and respect works much better to attract them than does, insulting or berating them and trying to shove a political agenda down their throats against their will. Who would have thought?

Considered purely from the standpoint of practical "Machiavellian" politics, they ought to "weaponize the department" against their opponents. But they won't, for whatever reasons. The Democrats and the left have no such compunctions, however. This is why the Republicans at the federal level are worse than useless - if anything, they are actually an outright liability.

If the department is full of people with a certain political leaning, it would be highly stupid of the GOP not to conduct decent hearings and actually change something. Unless of course the GOP is there just to promote the welfare of others than 'the people'.

There appears to be some movement. Three of the four coalition parties (the required majority to rule) are now saying; maybe we should tone down a bit. Waiting is for the 4th coalition party, the one with the extreme views that really does not like the farmers (D66). They probably will not agree. Since the other parties would like to be re-elected, it's the opportune moment to save their face. The cabinet (government) is down to 41 seats in the polls, out of 150. They need 76 for a majority. Dumping their coalition partner now (this means new elections), might gain them back some seats. For everyone that did not believe me that non-violent protests and persistence can't work, they definitely can and will; this shows it. However, in many cases the majority of the support drops away when promises are made... The protestors do not follow through until it's fully settled, that's what is going wrong. Not just here.

Oh, absolutely. Trump has been nothing but bad for the cause of liberty (overall, his few good deeds notwithstanding). But the man still has rights just like any one of us. As far as “weaponizing” the FBI goes, while they do seem to be getting more flagrant and “in your face’ about it, the FBI has ALWAYS been used as a political weapon and it serves nobody who is in power’s interests to do anything substantive about that. So, most likely, nothing substantive will be done.

Hey old friend. Your inbox is full or else I'd have sent this there.

This election has me at the point of no hope for the future of this nation. And I occasionally remember the good people from RPFs and all the time we had exchanging ideas and creating our own little online community.

I read a bit of your latest comments about holding the line so maybe we can gather a counter-force. Whelp. Time is up. I'm a bit sad the forum is not as active as in days gone by, but things change.

Thank God Ron is still alive to be a voice of reason in a sea of dystopian technocrats.

Swiss gun ownership: one of the perks of maintaining a healthy, national identity, while remaining cosmopolitan, liberal, and rather open. Legal immigration there is actually well regulated and up in the past 30 years, according to some articles. Its a shame our national ethos is immature or nonexistant by comparrison.

HAHA! I just saw your post in another thread (I was catching up on forum drama) about Mr A putting me on a leash. I don't think he would do that to me if he could. Even though he complains about my oversharing sometimes (not on the forum but IRL. I'm not good at filtering), he knows I'm a good girl and despite my outward personality, I'm a surprisingly solid and committed person underneath. We've been together since I was 23 (24 years/married 20), he knows everything - even stuff he'd rather not know.
