I already had a yard sign stolen today. I was just thinking that I wanted to get an early start on that to boost name recognition, but if people are going to steal my signs then I might have to wait until 30-60 days before the election to put out yard signs.

Iíve found that a lot of the social conservatives that Iíve talked to in my area are very open minded when I advocate a non interventionist foreign policy. I donít believe theyíre neocons or warmongers. Itís actually been my experience that the non religious conservatives tend to be more pro war.

Thanks. I'll look into that issue and the Utah bill. But mostly I'm trying to focus on local issues that I believe people in my district care a lot about.

I have a picture with me and two of my young nephews on the palm cards that I'm going to start handing out. So thousands of people will at least see that picture.

Yeah, there are 32 states that exempt food groceries from being taxed, and an additional five or six states that have no sales tax at all. Repealing the sales tax on food in Kansas is a very realistic proposal.

My name is Brett Fairchild. Today I filed to run for state representative. I'll be running in a rural district in Kansas. I'm running on a platform of opposing tax increases, repealing the state sales tax on food groceries, ending civil asset forfeiture and no knock warrants, legalizing industrial hemp and medical marijuana, opposing all restrictions on gun ownership, supporting a free market healthcare system, reforming our state's licensing laws, reducing the size of the state workforce and reducing welfare/entitlement spending. I'm running in a Republican primary against a Republican I would describe as being a liberal Republican. I've known him my entire life and even consider him to be a friend, but I just have strong disagreements with him politically. He's part of a group of so called "moderate Republicans" in the Kansas house. In reality, they vote with the Democrats about 80-90% of the time. These so called "moderate Republicans" make up about half of the Republicans in the house of representatives. This legislative session they voted for the largest tax increase in state history, voted for massive spending increases, voted to keep Common Core, voted against defunding Planned Parenthood, voted to expand gun free zones, voted to expand Medicaid, voted to restore teacher tenure, etc. My opponent raised a large amount of money in his last campaign, and he defeated his previous opponent by a large amount. Therefore, I'm going to need to come up with ways to raise money to run a competitive campaign. I'd appreciate any support you guys could give me. Even if you can only afford to donate a small amount, a lot of people donating a small amount of money can go a long way. I know this isn't the right forum for this, but I'm just posting his here so that more people can see it initially. If the mods could just leave this post in this sub forum for a day or two before moving it, I'd appreciate it. This is my campaign website for anyone who wants to look at it.

I would have to do more research on #1 to know what that means. At first glance #2 seems like the proposal that would be the most likely to be advanced in a state legislature.

What could a state legislator propose that would stop this sort of thing from happening? I'm going to be running for the state legislature in Kansas starting tomorrow. I'd appreciate any suggestions on what reforms the legislature should make to stop these types of events from happening.

About Coolidge/Dawes '24
Biography:
From my Wordpress profile:

The nameís Phil. Iím an awkward, anti-social, 18-year-old boy from Wisconsin who will never quite understand why people act the way they do. Why? Well, thing is Ė Iíve never quite been able to answer that one myself. But I have a theory, perhaps, of why fitting in with the rest of my peers has been (and always will be) impossible. In a Calvin Coolidge sort of way, I live in a time and place Ė an era, if you will Ė to which I donít belong. And quite honestly, I donít want to belong. The world around me is a dark and scary place. Everyday, I put up with the cruel, malicious voices that chatter, blather, and prattle all around me; the disturbing images that flash across the television screen, promoting violence, hedonism, sexual promiscuity, derision, cruelty, and Ė not only bad values Ė but a lack of them; the rampant drug use, the self-indulgent pop divas, the strippers, the nudists, the militant vulgarians, and the wholesale destruction of family values; the hitch-and-dispose-of attitude toward marriage, the disrespect for the sanctity of human life, the cultural Marxism imparted on children in government schools, and the worship of Social Democracy as God on Earth.

I think I belong in the year 1924. Or perhaps in an era long before the Roaring Twenties. But I donít belong here. And I donít belong in this body. If I could take my family, my partner, my pets, and a few close friends to a different era Ė or a different world Ė I would. But as long as Iím forced to live here, in 2011, with a creepo as president and a bunch of megalomaniacs as my ďleaders,Ē Iíll take what I can get. This blog is an outlet for me to vent about the insidiousness encompassing modern society. And with the last bit of hope I have in seeing some of the more positive elements of the Old Culture rediscovered and employed against the toxic vices of modernity, Iíll be happy to join the disgruntled Moral Minority in fighting the powers that be.

Let the Culture Wars begin.
