Sometimes you have to suspend liberty to promote it...

Who says that they'd never become citizens? So your big issue that I've seen across various threads is that we can't have open borders because ultimately they could vote. O boy we'd never control congress + the executive. And Rs accomplish so much in those times, so our chance to accomplish all we accomplish when we have that control would be jeopardized. So man, I feel like you get deep in these weird situationals and are not as bound to libertarian platforms because you feel you've got to get some sort of leg up partisan-wise....instead of looking at it as an idea or concept & filtering things through an ideology.

Which brings me back to the OP - the headline highlights how young latinos want "healthcare for all, immigration reform, and social justice issues." Well Hell, what's wrong with wanting immigration reform? doesn't everyone want that? I know we all have different versions of what we think works, but who in the hell thinks this works? Have you ever been through it???? Its effed a million times over. So yes, duh, libertarians like borders, but they like them open. And who says that just because they're open, that you can't have it secure? And who says that if folks travel/work in someplace, that somehow that demands immediate citizenship & enfranchisement & entitlements in that place?

lolwut? I'm talking about THE concept of Liberty & how, in a libertarian worldview, the concept isn't just for people who live in the US, but that all people have a right to be free. Does that make sense? I'm not saying its the US's job to make sure of that. I'm just saying it's ironic how we (as US citizens) can cry like babies (and rightly so) when our freedoms are infringed, but then want to put all these huge governmental barriers in place that infringe upon another man's liberties like travel, trade, and labor. That's Nationalism. But again, in regards to the OP, its an issue with the welfare state. I get it. I'm with you. But I just can't see how all of this all of the time in every thread turns into an immigration issue, and so many are not taking a libertarian stance on that.

Actually, what is the political struggle that we witness? It is the instinctive struggle of all people toward liberty. And what is this liberty, whose very name makes the heart beat faster and shakes the world? Is it not the union of all liberties — liberty of conscience, of education, of association, of the press, of travel, of labor, of trade? In short, is not liberty the freedom of every person to make full use of his faculties, so long as he does not harm other persons while doing so? - Frederic Bastiat The Law The irony of gadsden flag waving folks fighting against drug legalization and such is the same irony in which yall exclude the concept of liberty to those outside the U.S.

And if people didn't immigrate to the US, all of our social assistance programs would A-OK then, right? We're talking less than 20% of the population, only about 40% will vote, and about 33% of that vote usually goes republican (the party that hasn't given us any huge government programs much less expanded them). So this is really just an issue against welfare - YES!!!! We're all on the same page So why is this getting blamed on immigration - isn't that what most of us view as a LIBERTY, not to mention economically beneficial?..........and hasn't net immigration been at zero and trending negative for a few years now? So are we really blaming our social programs being drained on that????? Didn't republicans just have the executive + congress for 2 years? Congrats to them for CONTINUING to make immigration the scapegoat, while CONTINUING to do nothing about this welfare state that we're all supposedly so worked up over....

Yes Kokesh was, but Arizona is so shitty they don't list Libertarian party candidates on the actual ballot so it's write-in only.

McSally was a terrible candidate. Gov. Ducey won easily, but Mcsally loses? So... many thousands of people in AZ voted for Ducey (R) then went down-ballot and voted Sinema (D)? One thing is certain... the transplants from California and New York are metastasizing and spreading.... Texas, Arizona may never elect another republican.

So that's what this is about? The US government, operating through the BOE, is trying to reclaim assets for Conoco and for Exxon? I'm for property rights, whether that be gold or a refinery. I also dont believe its a bank's business what I do with my fking money, how much I make per year, and how I make it. Just my opinions on property and banks.

Honestly it's probably some of both. I was making inferences from all the people I know first hand.... Likely different in the aggregate. I was just saying there's lots of potential with the Hispanic vote.

You can be Hispanic and not first or second generation. Doesn't take long for our public schooling, tv shows, universities, and all the Republican Party's friendliness to program folks

A lot of Latinos here have left communist or socialist countries. A lot more have seen the beginnings of socialism gain a foothold in their countries. Most first or second generation Latino immigrants aren't just conservative, but extremely conservative..... So let's make sure to push them away and run them off I was at a service this morning in a Latino baptist church (mostly Mexicans) and even the preacher said several things in favor of Trump from his pulpit. (This is not to say that I shared his sentiment... only it shows that even to the people that have been turned into the hot topic, there's more important things to them than immigration.)

Fk... Why dont they take some of their "moving violation" traffic citations (fines > $500) and use that? Just a single traffic ticket can send a poor household into a tailspin. I really dont think SF has a tax revenue problem...

Demographics are unstoppable. It didn't happen this cycle, but it will. Californians and New Yorkers are moving to red states in droves. Arizona is about to elect a pink-tutu wearing code pink resistance activist protester over McSally, the first female combat pilot. Arizona will be blue. Texas will be blue. With FLorida passing the 'felons can vote' measure... florida will be blue. Within 10 years, it's all toast.

This whole idea that a bunch of ignorant racist rednecks lost and are sulking is what the civil war has been reduced to. So now when msm pushes this narrative they're painting it with the same brush strokes. I also don't like it being conjured up so flippantly with no idea as to just what hardships and tragedy a civil war would actually mean. I'd hate a civil war and I'd hate anyone who got me or anyone I loved in it.

I'm so sick of hearing this. Has anyone noticed how the media's been pumping this almost overtly for at least a year? F a civil war. Are they trying to stir up some self-fulfilling prophesy? At least choose another term other than Civil War

I have no idea what will happen. I'm confident the reps will expand the senate. Not so confident that they can hold the house, although that would be epic. I'd love to see the riots and political assassinations that would result from the left collectively exploding if that were to happen. We will see.

    Cool.

Humility is a virtue, and I embrace anyone that strives for it, no matter which path they take.

    Actions speak louder than words.

Watch my feet, not my mouth.

That's why I love Ron Paul!!!!!

And Lord knows I'm far from perfect, too!

Well... like I say - It's not meant to be a quote

I like the Old Testament for the history of that part of the world, particularly the history of the Jews.

I like the New Testament for the teachings of Jesus. Don't care much for the teachings of Paul.

I think we (the West) can learn a lot from the spirituality of India regarding killing, vegetarianism, and karma.

I consider myself 'spiritual', rather than 'religious'.

My favorite church in town is a Hare Krishna temple

nah... I don't think so ("don't kill" vs "don't murder")

I like the King James Version "don't kill". He assembled the greatest biblical scholars in Europe at the time - arguably the most intensely researched translation in history.

Plus, 'murder' implies (by definition) that we shouldn't kill humans, while 'kill' implies we shouldn't kill anything - if we don't have to. I feel the same way. Bad karma.
