You hit the nail on the head in post 1. There needs to be integrity in elected officials, and there just isnít any. They are almost all bought and paid for by unworldly money and it is clear that their allegiance is to their god, money. No integrity.

Itís stealing plain and simple- no grey area whatsoever. Hit hard here by that weak storm, but there are resources available to people who need them. Not anywhere near apocalypse levels here. These are thieves doing thieve things. Zombies change things obviously.

Flooding quickly receding here hanks to no inland flooding- the surges recede quickly with the tide and lack of a storm driving the winds here. Y’all down south hang in there it’s crazy how much rain is coming in those bands. Hopefully the the storm picks up speed and moves on in and out of the area. Power is already back on and Internet was restored around 10am.

Breathing easy now. I think the water reached its high point and the worst of the rain is passed. Receded as it was lapping at the door. Drinking coffee running the ac sitting on the porch. Neighborhood is mostly empty except for about 5 houses.

My house is going to flood. Sucky feeling watching the waters rise. Last hour has been rapidly deteriorating situation as far as water goes. Took a quick ride around the hood - last time I did that was around 3pm most the roads were still clear and passable. 30 minutes ago I realized the window to get out was closing and there is no chance that the house won’t flood- so I made the decision to bail. Thankfully we had a bail bag ready and we were out of the house in 5 minutes flat with 3 kids and a mentally breaking down wife. Took them to the hospital where she works they will be able to room with the other employees. I rushed back home .... any later I would have been swept off the road in 2 locations. Back home here I’m a defender and fighter. This is my house rain or shine. Might not can save everything but I’m going to work on getting what I can up off the floor and I’ll tough it out. Much easier by myself

Bout a foot to go :/ I’m a little on edge. The roads out of here are flooded. We have it good compared to alot of the town though. I’ve been rationing the generator- we can run the whole house including the AC but I run it for 2 hours at a time every 4 hours. I only have about 30 gal of gas.

Who is panicking? Actually I see that people are downplaying this storm. Ever since it stopped being a cat 4 it seems like the media has really lost interest and it’s actually hard to find information about the storm. The reality is that this storm is approaching 500-1000 year flood levels. People who have never had their homes approached by floods are stuck on their roofs. It’s a major major event. However despite that it’s rather calm here as we wait out these relentless rain bands. If anyone is interested you can check the radar- the first parts of eastern NC to feel effects have been under the same direction rain and winds and still expected to continue into the night. The estimates of 16-24” of rain are largely accurate. The storm surge was accurate. Who is panicking? It feels like people are downplaying what might be one of the more devastating landfalls to ever hit this coast- including hazel and Hugo.

They were proud of that stupid segment. Showed it every 15 minutes for about 24 hours straight. That and the party in the hurricane plane. Meanwhile the rivers are still rising as the wind and surge has been relentless. Wind and rain the strongest now than it has been since we first started feeling effects 24 hours ago. 2 more feet of water rising and it’s in my house at this point. Crossing my fingers. Good news is that I sold a crap ton of generators and supplies in the last week. Bad news is some business and holes I have unpaid work on are destroyed. Surf Wind and Fire roof collapsed. They owe money. Wonder how it plays out now.

I’m staying put. Shelter in place should be well supplied for at least a week before I need out, unless complete flooding occurs at my house. Tornados now

For the fact it’s already hitting us with the outer bands, they are not expecting landfall for another 36 hours.

Nobody out here is enforcing the evacuations. They are just clear that if you get stranded on your roof you are probably going to be waiting for a rescue for some time. I’m 50/50 on whether to leave my house. New Bern is going to eat the brunt of this because the wide Neuse River will be surging as the smaller Neuse and Trent rivers will have nowhere to empty into. The police department abandoned the police station. They are expecting water 9’ higher than normal. I could go cramp into the hospital with the wife and ride it out there, but I have a really hard time leaving my house and dog. If it starts to flood bad I’ll end up wishing I had left I bet. Can’t get to a final decision as i keep flip flopping like a Romney

It’s 150 miles from us- we are dead center of the coastal flooding area. Under a mandatory evacuation. Wasn’t going to but I’m getting nervous. Wife is working at the hospital tomorrow and I can take my family there and be cramped up in the hospital but at least safe. We had a 50 year flood a couple years back and it was just lapping the edge of my slab. This has plenty of potential to be worse.

We have fared well through recent flooding events but thereís a lot of people still recovering from the last major flood. Thereís going to be serious damage As much as I love to surf this isnít a good storm for surf. Ideally it stays off the coast and lets the swell hit from afar. Storm like this it just gets nasty fast.

Headed right for me. Cat 4 when it hits or very strong cat 3. I lived ocean front in Surf City when hurricane Bertha and Fran hit in 96. Bertha was a category 2 and packed a punch. Fran came as a mid cat 3 about 4 or 6 weeks later and rearranged the coast. Our house was one of very few left still standing. Iím a little more inland now, but concerning that the storm hits, then stalls for a couple days. Iíve heard it could dump 3í of rain. Itís been a wet summer already everything is already saturated.

Jeez thatís a massive cut. I get all bent out of shape if someone asks me to adjust a bill even $10-50. But my defense is that the bill is fair and just the first time. I specifically tell people there is no fluff in it.

Let's talk about credit cards...

This is simply. Not the case.

There are 2 examples from my own personal experience that maybe can make my point. For one, my wife and I like to go on vacations annually. One thing we do throughout the year is accumulate savings through unconventional means, one of which is rack up rebate points on our credit card. We use a credit card for most of our purchases,
