The Plastic Straw Police are not Feds. And I haven't heard of any state governments shutting down. I don't know why they would. Sympathy pains? Domino effect?

Except that he doesn't generally "sell out" for personal gain. I know it's a small distinction for Teh Collinz, but he tends give his "payment" back to the greater liberty.

I don't think he's retarded, but I do think he's a despicable snake. He's doing his job for Fox to keep their viewers confused, but proud of it. He probably deserves a raise.

Poll needs more options... Depends on what he gets for his vote. My take is that Rand's votes are often for sale if the price meets what he deems to be higher value for liberty. In Rand's mind, a short term AG assignment may be worth some key votes or a presidential push on some other piece of legislation. Rand's definitely on our team, but sometimes he plays the game differently than we'd like.

You're wrong, though these days you're only wrong about a teensy tiny fraction of things. The motor fuels tax does not apply to fuel sold to railroads. So if you were to pick up an item from a distributor with a siding while on your bicycle...

I think they add that to the price of a beer. $9.00 for 12 ounces has to go somewhere.

Republicans are fighting for a multi-billion dollar boondoggle that can be defeated by any old aircraft--or a few determined people with ten dollar shovels. Democrats are fighting for a couple of brown-baby-bombing wars that benefit only oil companies and pharmaceutical companies. If what is morally right entered into the equation, you wouldn't have pro-boondoggle "conservatives" and pro-imperialist corporate welfare wars "liberals". People stand for nothing (both Team Red and Team Blue certainly mean nothing today) and they're falling for anything and everything. Morally right? If the public gave what's morally right a moment's consideration, we would indeed all be much, much better off. But they don't. Or, rather, those who do get banned from Facebook and are never heard from again.

Of course. But you impose it on everyone. And you make it mandatory that every vehicle reports every mile you drive, every place you go, and as a happy "unintended" consequence, everyone you associate with. And how do you make people happy to be spied on? You tell them the only alternative is for their TV and their toaster to pay road taxes.

So, the question becomes... Do you impose a "electric tax" on drivers of electric vehicles?? You know, because they are using the service of roads and causing the same wear and tear but are avoiding the user fees?

And when did this nearly perfect system begin getting perverted? The moment the federal motor fuel tax began. While it was strictly done at the state level it was misused and abused much less, and never abused nationwide.

That's really the key point in this discussion. Funny how entitled assholes always think someone else should be footing the bill for them. And when they get fed by someone else, they complain about the quality.

Well, yes, that looked like what you were saying. Of course, no matter how badly he screws his supporters by not keeping his promises, you spammed for him and now you own him, right? So when push comes to shove, you will always revert to your same old cliches, right? 1. Come to website of candidate one doesn't support. 2. Start spamming candidate one does support. 3. Abuse anyone who explains why we gathered here to support a better candidate.

Meh... so what? Those people will load up on to another platform, which will go bad, and so on and so forth. What is needed is a true P2P messenger sort of deal such that nobody is able to delete or censor other users, save in those channels over which they have control such as their personal pages and groups they've established. We have the technology. We could make it happen. Perhaps I should start this.... call it... I dunno... facenode.com? No... facenode.org. That's the ticket!

Sure it is--if they're fascists. Of course, you can claim no one warned you they're fascists--until someone does. At the very least a person can refrain from abusing the people who tell them their favorite fascist is a fascist, instead of doubling down and removing any hope that anyone will ever take one seriously again.

Gee, a law that spends money without any human input, being sold as a cut because it only automatically spends at the old rate for four months. And no provision whatsoever for finding the money it spends? And Mike Lee is pushing this? I am disappointed by that. The Constitution calls for money to be appropriated from us and apportioned only by representatives that we can vote out every two years. It makes no provision for our money being snatched and spent by an automatic provision of some law even after we vote the bums that passed it out. It isn't a matter of, does it cut enough of our taxes appropriated and apportioned without representation. It's a matter of...

But then you don't get to scream and cry and have wet meltdowns for the tool the fake news says isn't a tool, and call those who see he's a tool all kinds of nasty names, before finding out he's a tool and you just got suckered into screwing us all. Don't you know how the world works? Why would we demand to be allowed to be self-reliant when we can spend every fourth year slandering people who tell us the truth about the fascist who is kissing our asses? Freedom's all right, I guess, but not as much fun as abusing the people who tell me my favorite fascist really is a fascist. Of course, two years later we all look like total asses and we're still not free. But somehow that's always forgotten again when election year rolls around again and we get to abuse each other for pointing out that the fake news is lying to us again. Talk freedom all you want. In 2020 kahless will still have a new favorite fascist, and will still abuse you for telling the truth.

My mind must be gone because I almost cannot imagine working for $90K, having long ago done 5x that. It is a weird thing to be around large sums such as the hundreds of millions of other people's dollars I have managed on client projects. You become inured to the enormity of such sums such that a $100K salary seems not quite meager, but definitely nothing about which to write home. The mind is a very strange place.

You could be correct, but so far as my scan indicates, there appears to be insufficient data in the article to draw a reliable conclusion. The article is written in typically poor form, whether intentionally or otherwise, leaving readers to draw tacit inferences and even conclusions based on very fuzzy innuendo.

My personal story (pt2)

by CaptUSA on 02-24-2016 at 09:57 AM
Among my many interests was electricity and I decided that I wanted to change how the industry operates. Understanding the free market as I did, I was pissed that the coolest discovery in the history of mankind was being regulated to death by the government. I wanted to change that.

I found a job as a part-time temporary meter reader. My girlfriend went ballistic that I was quitting a salaried job for a part-time temp job, but I had complete confidence in what I was doing. Meter

My personal story (pt 1)

by CaptUSA on 02-24-2016 at 09:55 AM
I’ve never used this blog feature before, but since people have wondered (and asked) about my personal story, I figured it was best to do it in here rather than the forums.

It may come across as anecdotal, but I assure you that this same type free market story is working itself out all over the country and the globe. Even in the face or increasing government interference.

I was born in Western PA the third of four boys. When I was still a baby, the second child died
