Why are you acting like you're preaching to the choir? Read his posts again. Accusing people of being trolls and having gall? Check. Blathering about one party rule, as if we haven't had it for decades? Check. Advocating for more federal control, thus giving cover to the very people who are pushing this deplorable new federal bill? Check. A complete failure to address valid questions, or even to treat the people who ask them as human beings? Check. Trying to distract from that fact by stirring shit? Check. If there's a problem with the way my state is counting my vote, the last thing I want is to force the people of my state to outvote New York City in order to fix it. The very concept is stupid. We'll identify the problem and fix it. Having the entire population of California impose rules on us could not possibly help us do that. To suggest otherwise is "a complete failure to comprehend what is happening."

Are you talking about TheTexan? Because everyone else is bashing both major parties equally. Or are you merely trying to distract people from the fact that your "the feds have a duty to jack with state voting systems" argument is constitutionally wrong, without principle, and the source of these problems?

Then why talk about leftarded behavior and ignore rightarded behavior? Is that rational? Do you know how we got in this mess? We got in this mess because nearly half the voters support every federal power grab. That's a different half every administration. But the partisan idiots on both sides can absolutely be relied upon to support federal power grabs while "their team" benefits. That is how we got in this mess.

Bullshytt. The Republicans party has pulled just as much rightarded crap over the decades. Power corrupts. We can never, ever trust Washington, D.C. to use a power only once, or only for good. Never. And we sure as $#!+ can't trust the party of Lincoln, Taft, Hoover, Nixon and the Bush Crime Syndicate Family.

Why? What are you picking on Sonny Tufts for? One of the very "the feds should exercise dictatorial power over everyone and everything when the Republicans have the majority, but when the Demoncrats® do, that's the only time the Tenth Amendment counts!" fascist trolls you started this thread about jumped up and reiterated his support for the very position you decry. So Sonny Tufts asked what the Republicans should have done. What could they do that wouldn't set a precedent so broad and dangerous that this power grabbing federal law would have been entirely unnecessary? I'd be interested to see the answer (if I didn't already know the Shyll never even tries to answer hard questions, and will ignore this one). And you should be too.

Ahh, I think I see what you're trying to say. Yes, the monetary inflation has already happened and it will be the eventual cause of the price inflation. They artificially raised M by printing and lowered V with lockdowns. But they can't keep V lowered forever with that kind of increase in M. And yes, the media will blame the price inflation on "covid hangover" or some such nonsense. But I'm wondering if the Fed will be able to use interest rates to try to slow it down? And how high will those rates have to get to do that?? They've been keeping them artificially lowered for years now. If that dam bursts, and they can't contain the price inflation with interest rates, what other tools do they have?? That scenario is the death spiral and it could happen quickly. I think they'd have to pull another world-wide freeze of some sort and the nations of the world would have to accept whatever we do. Everything is tied into the reserve currency and we still have the bombs.

Right, we're talking about price inflation here. Not monetary inflation. I'm not sure I get your post?? And, I'm not sure I'd call this relatively static: https://fred.stlouisfed.org/series/M2V

I'm not sure I've seen this question answered here, yet. First a brief economics lesson for the uninitiated. Economist, Irving Fisher developed a monetarist version Quantity Theory of Money which is readily used. I don't think it was meant to be a "precise" theory; it's meant to be simple but I think it generally holds. The calculation looks like this: M*V=P*T (Money supply X Velocity of money = Price level X volume of Transactions in the economy. What this shows is that when the money supply increases but the velocity stays low, you don't get price inflation. But if both money supply and velocity are high, price inflation is guaranteed. Austrians would argue that the reason you're not seeing the inflation in prices is because it's hitting certain sectors and not others. This time mainly the stock market. I believe both things are true. We know that the economists at the Fed are well versed in monetarist theory. At any rate back to the question at hand... I think we know the expected path the economy is going to take. With these trillions of new dollars printed, and the lockdowns to eventually fade (some places quicker than others), the velocity of money is going to pick up. So we're going to start seeing price inflation in the other sectors. And the government and Fed are salivating for that inflation. Who wouldn't want to pay off '20/'21 debt with cheaper '22 dollars? And it allows them to raise the interest rates to give them more levers in the future. So the question becomes, can they control the Velocity by adjusting the interest rate? Left unbridled, a "return to normal" is going to speed inflation (and if a new minimum wage law gets passed in the next 2 years, watch out!) They know an unbridled inflation rate would be distasteful to the American people, so they hope to raise it fast enough to give them their levers and debt service reductions, but slow enough to keep the people from dragging them through the street by their tongues. Preferably, the sweet spot is having the public just mad enough to ask for more increases in benefits due to the rising cost of living, but not mad enough to do that other thing. So, do you think the interest rate rises will be enough for them to maintain that sweet spot? Or will it get away from them like it did in the 70's?

Unfortunately, this is bleeding over into private schools as well. The institutions are definitely pushing it hard, but we gotta remember that these institutions are run by people. And right now, the people have lost their damned minds. Even the ones who sense something is wrong with all this are afraid to speak up for fear of being labeled as a racist. When, in fact, those pushing these types of things couldn't be more racist! This goes back to "intellectual" pursuits vs. real world concrete pursuits. We've fooled generations of people into thinking they can pursue intellectualism lazily. So you get people attracted to the fields like education, journalism, law, politics, or the arts, without the empirical academic rigor that those fields should entail. And they're safe because unlike real-world pursuits, if they produce shoddy products, they pay no price for being wrong. Whereas, if you or I mess up, your employer or customer will know pretty quickly. What's worse, is that they're ALL lazy now and don't even realize it. Something like 95% of people in those fields, not only think in a similar way, but they think they're right and you're too stupid to understand how smart they are!

Don't forget to add that this meme has been "fact-checked" and deemed to be misleading. https://leadstories.com/hoax-alert/2021/03/fact-check-dr-seuss-enterprises-did-not-cancel-publication-of-the-cat-in-the-hat.html Never mind that this fact check is for a different meme of similar content - they still applied it to this meme. Never mind that the fact check misses the entire point of the meme. Never mind that the fact check doesn't mention that WAP was named NPR's song of the year in a flattering piece about how in spite of the bad in 2020, it gave us some really great music! Never mind that neither the pulling of Dr. Seuss books, nor the promotion of WAP was based on demand. (Those books still sell and WAP wasn't even in the top 20 songs sold or streamed in 2020) Another thing I'm seeing is that there's a perception is that this is the free market in action. A company decided to stop selling their books out of their moral concern; they weren't "forced" to stop selling them. And WAP was a hit song because people like it.

Why NOT unleash one? Turmoil is the politicians game - always has been. Do note how it's always one thing after another, how we are never left in peace now. Does anyone here think this is mere coincidence, or some new necessity of reality? My suspicions come closer toconfirmation by the day: Theye are sowing endless strife and minor chaos in pursuit of the goal of wearing us down - wearying us so that when they finally make THE move, we will no longer care. It is a combination of acclimation to insanity and wearing us out so that we no longer have in us any fight. Consider the starfish. Not particularly strong when compared with a clam, but they are able to apply their meager pressures for extended periods. They latch on to a clam and put just a small pressure upon them. The mightier clam, wel... clams up as the saying goes, and in a couple of hours is exhausted, becomes incapable of further resistance, and succumbs.

Really?? And how do you know that? Is there a minimum effort that goes along with that? Are employees required by law to provide at least $20 of value each hour to their employer? Don't you think it's rather arrogant to think that you know better than each individual worker and employer what their value is worth to each other? And don't you think it's heartless to prevent those who are unable to provide $20 of value per hour, either through lack of skills or knowledge, the ability to at least make something while gaining those skills and knowledge?

Arkansas expires at the end of the month... Asa Hutchinson (R)?? Indiana expires at the end of the month - Gov Holcomb (R)?? Iowa quietly dropped their mandate on Feb 7th Montana's order expired on Feb 12th NH is set to expire this month - Sununu (R)??? ND expired Jan 18th Utah is set to expire on March 25th - Gov Cox (R)?

Think about how irrational that is. Should Captain Hook be removed from Peter Pan because it portrays handicapped people as evil? Hannibal Lecter was a middle-aged white guy - shall we consider it a commentary that middle-aged white guys are cannibals?? Emperor Palpatine was a decrepit old politician - does that mean all decrepit old politicians are the embodiment of the dark side?? Eh, maybe that last one is a bad example. The point is that "characters" by their very definition are distinctive to an individual.

My personal story (pt2)

by CaptUSA on 02-24-2016 at 09:57 AM
Among my many interests was electricity and I decided that I wanted to change how the industry operates. Understanding the free market as I did, I was pissed that the coolest discovery in the history of mankind was being regulated to death by the government. I wanted to change that.

I found a job as a part-time temporary meter reader. My girlfriend went ballistic that I was quitting a salaried job for a part-time temp job, but I had complete confidence in what I was doing. Meter

My personal story (pt 1)

by CaptUSA on 02-24-2016 at 09:55 AM
I’ve never used this blog feature before, but since people have wondered (and asked) about my personal story, I figured it was best to do it in here rather than the forums.

It may come across as anecdotal, but I assure you that this same type free market story is working itself out all over the country and the globe. Even in the face or increasing government interference.

I was born in Western PA the third of four boys. When I was still a baby, the second child died
