I didn't expect them to, either, but I didn't expect them both to lose. The Saints were clearly and obviously screwed. The funny thing is the two bad calls in the Chiefs' favor before the bad call against them. I can't imagine why I would possibly bother to watch the Stupor Bowl. I've already seen everything the year's two best teams are going to do.

If they are defective, yes. But, of course, the FRN's defects don't hurt the government, only the civilians. So it never gets recalled, and we aren't allowed to sue. No matter how much middle class wages erode and savings evaporate.

Half a century later and they still seem to be screwing teams that were in the AFL. That's a ridiculously long time to hold a grudge. And despite instant replay, they still manage to pull it off. I hate the NFL.

Well, you see, if they didn’t call something there, that could have ended the game with the wrong team winning.

The game has rules. If it didn't, somebody would buy a trebuchet and never miss another field goal. That'd be real slick, but if nobody ever kicks the pigskin again, is it still football?

Well, this sucks. But, you know, the Rams did not lead even one second of the last game. So there may be hope for my Chiefs.

I get it. I wasn't speaking for anyone else, either. :) I just see technology as something that comes regardless of what anyone does, so I try to not to blame the technology, but the people who misuse it. And then I try to see the good that people who don't misuse it get.

Oh sure... they are tracked when they need to be. They have the data; it's just a matter of whether or not they choose to use it. Make a big enough stink and they will choose it. Agreed on everything else in your post. (BTW, I'm not a technologist or a futurist - I just choose to focus on the positive side... Maybe a stupid "optimist"?)

(Sorry for the late bump. Was just talking about this tonight.) The way I see it, in this day in age, they monitor cash just as easily as a card. Every bill is numbered and recorded each time it passes through a bank. It's not hard to know which cash went to which person in between. At least on your higher denominations. People take that money out of one bank, give to a business, who then puts it right back in another bank. Sure, the ones and fives might get recirculated a few times before they hit the bank, but with fewer people using cash?? It just means the money doesn't flow as fast between people. So it's more likely to return the bank these days. They got computers crunching data a lot harder than this. If anyone is trying to hide from the evil eye, this is probably not a very effective way to do so. They've gotcha either way.

And if I confirm that you've done a 180 degree about face on this topic, will you also say I don't know what I'm talking about? I know that suits your urge to be abrasive, which is one area where you've been consistent through your blatant effort to torpedo the Blue Republican initiative (which actually worked pretty well in Iowa) and your effort to sell everyone a class (which taught you certain Gospel Truths which you now deny) and your adolescent R rated comments about one or two of Ron Paul's granddaughters. But I can dig up proof your positions have indeed shifted with the wind if I have to. Maybe you should simmer down and stop insulting people, eh?

The oil companies rule the world. They already killed King Coal, but the recent insanity of declaring carbon dioxide (which forests adore) to be a pollutant proves the oil cartel won't be content until it dances on the coal industry's grave. But as much havoc as the oil/plastic industry has wreaked on American lives and the American ecology and economy, that's nothing compared to what the wars they bribed Washington to start have done to the economy, ecology and lives of the Middle East.

Poll needs more options... Depends on what he gets for his vote. My take is that Rand's votes are often for sale if the price meets what he deems to be higher value for liberty. In Rand's mind, a short term AG assignment may be worth some key votes or a presidential push on some other piece of legislation. Rand's definitely on our team, but sometimes he plays the game differently than we'd like.

You're wrong, though these days you're only wrong about a teensy tiny fraction of things. The motor fuels tax does not apply to fuel sold to railroads. So if you were to pick up an item from a distributor with a siding while on your bicycle...

Republicans are fighting for a multi-billion dollar boondoggle that can be defeated by any old aircraft--or a few determined people with ten dollar shovels. Democrats are fighting for a couple of brown-baby-bombing wars that benefit only oil companies and pharmaceutical companies. If what is morally right entered into the equation, you wouldn't have pro-boondoggle "conservatives" and pro-imperialist corporate welfare wars "liberals". People stand for nothing (both Team Red and Team Blue certainly mean nothing today) and they're falling for anything and everything. Morally right? If the public gave what's morally right a moment's consideration, we would indeed all be much, much better off. But they don't. Or, rather, those who do get banned from Facebook and are never heard from again.

Of course. But you impose it on everyone. And you make it mandatory that every vehicle reports every mile you drive, every place you go, and as a happy "unintended" consequence, everyone you associate with. And how do you make people happy to be spied on? You tell them the only alternative is for their TV and their toaster to pay road taxes.

My personal story (pt2)

by CaptUSA on 02-24-2016 at 09:57 AM
Among my many interests was electricity and I decided that I wanted to change how the industry operates. Understanding the free market as I did, I was pissed that the coolest discovery in the history of mankind was being regulated to death by the government. I wanted to change that.

I found a job as a part-time temporary meter reader. My girlfriend went ballistic that I was quitting a salaried job for a part-time temp job, but I had complete confidence in what I was doing. Meter

My personal story (pt 1)

by CaptUSA on 02-24-2016 at 09:55 AM
I’ve never used this blog feature before, but since people have wondered (and asked) about my personal story, I figured it was best to do it in here rather than the forums.

It may come across as anecdotal, but I assure you that this same type free market story is working itself out all over the country and the globe. Even in the face or increasing government interference.

I was born in Western PA the third of four boys. When I was still a baby, the second child died
